Oh I imagined Skameros having her in a bugbear hug - the combination of that and his weight acting to keep her still. As for one handed weapons, I don't think so but he can bite :)
Also this has turned out better than I originally had expected given how I usually roll - which is why I figured the inspiration would be needed.
Is she's globbed and Beegred can keep the bag on does Skameros need to still grapple? He could pick his greataxe back up and wail away on her?
Skameros's grapple is kind of moot, given the glob.
Beegred also makes a good point about knowing where to attack, and doing so blind will end up in a straight roll. Same for the Medusa. She would have disadvantage to attack, but since you're effectively blind by keeping your eyes shut, her attacks will also be straight rolls.
If you choose to look at the Medusa to get advantage on your attack rolls, then you are relying on Beegred to maintain the grapple for the bag.
You can also double up grapple on the bag, so she would have to beat the higher of your two rolls. But you'd have to do whatever damage you want to do with one free hand only.
I'm fine with whatever Skameros decides to do, but I like the idea of doubling up on keeping that bag on her head.
And the biting / kidney punches, of course.

I've never been comfortable with the grappling mechanics, so I'm asking here in case I'm thinking about it wrong.
(My understanding:) After "winning" the initial contested roll, the victim gets the "grappled" condition. The condition persists until the victim wins a contested action to remove the grapple... The next round, the attacker does not have to do anything to keep the grapple going, other than stay in proximity and have a free hand. That gives them the option to use other Actions, like attack with a 1-handed weapon or to punch/bite/elbow.
For this particular situation, both Skameros and Beegred won their grapple checks versus the medusa. When she is trying to break the condition, it is all-or-nothing. If she beats both Skameros and Beegred on her turn, she removes all grapples. If she loses to at least one of them, she is still double-grappled (so to speak). Skameros and Beegred can use attack Actions without breaking the grapple, and the medusa is free to attack while being grappled.
Are both those paragraphs correct?

I'm not sure if I'm being RAW here: if the Medusa breaks one grapple but not both, then there is only one grapple remaining. Whoever lost the contested grappling save/check is no longer grappling.
There is no limitation on what you can do while you maintain a grapple, besides needing a free hand to do the grappling. Or moving, if you try to move, that has some restrictions. But it doesn't apply here, as the Medusa is globbed.
The Medusa is free to attack, and doesn't suffer any disadvantage from the grappled condition. It is being blinded by the bag that is creating her disadvantages.
If you have multiple attacks, grappling uses one of those attacks (to initiate the grapple). If you have extra attack, you can grapple and attack, or grapple multiple times.
If a whole round goes and it's your turn, and you are still grappling, you don't have to use any of your attack actions to maintain a grapple. You have full use of your action/attack, as long as whatever you are doing can be done with one arm/hand.
I didn't even think about it, but I guess I allowed you to maintain the grapple, but change what you are grappling at the cost of an action. If that's OK with you, we can keep moving on.
yeah I don't think one 5 point punch in the long run will make a difference if we manage to win
I do wonder what Rodolfo and Narstin are thinking when they are watching Skameros running his hands all over the medusa's body instead of fighting.

Ah ok but because I switched to helping with the bag that was my attack action - so next round assuming she's still bagged - I can bite her

Rodolfo is super nervous, teetering between two of his personality traits:
* if you do things, do them right
* if the going gets tough, get out alive

@Rodolfo: Beegred and Skameros are getting tired holding this bag on the Medusa's head.
Particularly amusing imagery since Beegred would have to be hanging in the air to accomplish the task...
Apologies, posted.
No problem. Trying times... I lost track of the thread too.
