It sounds like you're all retreating, so I will go with that.
Well... we were going to hesitate up that passage (and outside the statue cave) long enough to find out if the statues were intent on following our party, or if their purpose seemed to be keeping others out of the statue cave.
I assume it was the later (statues guarding their cave)?

I will update the main thread Saturday. I want to take the time to make sure I don't forget any details. I'm going to have to go back in the thread(s) to see what attitude the gnomes had towards your party, and what was requested and promised.
Yeah I have a feeling that we were told something along the lines of "do this or don't come back".
We do have an option of a safe long rest with Tiny Hut though. Rodolfo can always do it - it's a ritual spell. So we can go back to the Medusa lair and take a proper long rest. The Hut can also be placed in a way that would completely block the entrance to the lair.
Thinking about it - it might actually be safer to take the long rest here instead of with the gnomes - we were already robbed.
I'm happy with Winenose's suggestion. Like you said, the long rest doesn't have to be with the rock gnomes.

The bed and furniture in that chamber would be rotted to the point that even minor handling would cause it all to crumble. But that has no bearing to the outcome of you all getting your long rest safely in the grotto. So, have at it.
Beegred can level up and the rest can get your long rests. Let me know what you decide to do once you're all rested.
Or anything else otherwise in that room that looked very out of place?
Beegred will mention the swirling wind that appeared before the statues moved, although he (and I) doesn't know what it means.

Beegred took a good look on his first foray and may have noticed that the statues differed in the same way that individuals differ. The dress looked uniform, like an organized army. Their postures and rank and file positions also allude to this.

Since his background is "soldier", makes sense that he would notice things like that. But probably not in enough detail to tell if it was an artist being creative with their sculptures, or a medusa adding to her gallery of statues.

During battle you destroyed 6 of them. At some point, I even narrated that when pieces of statue broke, you were able to see layers of flesh, organs and bones inside the broken pieces. So in general you are all aware these were once living breathing drow, and the medusa turned them all to stone.
I forgot what our mission was :-) so I looked at some old posts. I don't think having the party in another area is a good idea, if I'm reading things correctly.
(Posting in main thread to explain this.)
EDIT: I'm okay with trying to stealth ahead, to get the gem on the menhir, but the party should be 6 or 12 seconds behind him, not waiting for the halfling to return.

For the magic dagger, Beegred can certainly use it when making off-hand attacks.
But since he already has the +2 short sword, I didn't want to hog the magic weapons if someone else had a use for it.
If you think it is unlikely that Rodolfo will ever use the dagger, I will gladly have Beegred take it.

In that case, narrate your setup in the Medusa's lair and feel free to take a long rest.

By the way - were the petrified drow identical or was there anything else super obviously weird there aside from it being what it was?
Or anything else otherwise in that room that looked very out of place?

What happened to Skameros? Is he unconscious or ? I don't understand.
He went to sleep for the long rest :) didn't realize y'all moved on

Oh.. :D
I was like "oh shit there was some curse involved that took effect the next day"...
But - my suggestion is that Beegred try to place the thing to the place and the rest of us wait in the larger open area.
By "the larger open area", you mean up the stairs?
You're in area 20 (Medusa's Grotto). The statues are in area 21. You fought the Medusa in area 19. The Menhir is in area 22.
Do you mean you stay in area 19, while Beegred goes down to area 22 to insert the gem?
