I wouldn't mind killing some stuff to be honest. Either some of the oozes in the place we were last or the frozen drow in the medusa area.
For new people - there's a room with a bunch of drow in it - exactly the same way that we already encountered. We killed a few of them (like 6 maybe?), but then another 6 became active and we backed out of there. It's been bothering me since then because either there may be something interesting in that room or if we somehow get rid of the swirling dust then they may actually become active. And it would be really bad to have a dozen drow fighters on our back (or the back of the strike force).
I agree with killing stuff- maybe something worth finding . I’d love to check out the drow. Not set up well for oozes except by sacrificing crossbow bolts.
Drow are better than oozes - Skameros just splits oozes in to more oozes unless we can find him a big hammer instead - but even then it'll take damage from the oozes. He's already got one greataxe at -2 because of this.
I’m at a bit of a loss for what to do with Orubis.
It sounds like there’s not a good outcome possible at this point. We just learned: - if we feed the slimes, they go berserk and will kill the town unless the PK gets them back under control - this means, if we kill the PK, the slimes will go berserk and eat the town
It might be that the hive mind is facilitated by the King. So if it goes away then oozes will be oozes - mindless and without direction.
Looking at the map then the town is not directly in the path of the oozes. And so far the walls and seals have held between PK and the town.
Actually - looking at the same map - one another avenue of action might be to clear out more of the area north of oozes - the same area we were just at. There's green slimes and shit as well there. It would make it easier for the distraction force to hold long enough for the strike force to take down the Pudding King. A week is a long time to make a lot of strategic hits with distractions and magic and whatnot.
We can throw like a ration or a corpse or something one way and then pick off a bunch of straggling oozes as well, etc. Rodolfo has some pretty good area damage as well.
I've heard you all loud and clear that you feel like there are no good solutions or options or things to do in your current situation. I still don't want to slap the story on rails though. The option remains to just fast forward to the battle and we can move the story along. But I don't want to remove any opportunity to have you all try to do 'something' to improve the situation at the final battle, or to gather more knowledge.
I have made sure that your outing(s) have had worthy results:
1) You have discovered that besides the oozes (Yellow Ochre, Black Pudding, Gelatinous Cube, Grey Ooze, etc..) there are also 'environmental hazard' slimes all over the ceiling of the caverns the oozes are occupying. These slimes are known to drop onto the heads of passersby beneath them, but all of them seem dormant at the moment.
2) You have discovered a creature that feeds on the oozes,
3) You have discovered you have an ally among the oozes,
4) You know that triggering one ooze will chain reaction trigger all of the other oozes stuck waiting for the Kings orders,
5) You have discovered that the oozes are being starved, but are promised the opportunity to feast on 'a groom'.
So far, you've obtained information. You can also do things to improve the assault based on what is being planned and what you've learned, which I will feedback into the retelling of the assault by the survivors (if there are any).
You also know that your job will be to keep Ogremoch's Bane busy during the assault, if not outright defeat or get rid of it.
I know the story has felt slow or directionless lately, but I don't want to tell you all what to do.
(I’m good- If people don’t want oozes let’s go find these drow! I think the party is maybe feeling a little underpowered for dealing with millions of oozes, either another level or some magic items if we can find before the big battle might help!)
In my case, acid splash means when Beegred hits, he is taking almost as much damage as he is dishing out. That's why I'm pushing so hard for Skameros to get a magic weapon. With his reach keeping him out of splash range, having a weapon that doesn't melt in his hands will be needed for any prolonged battles.
Beating up some Drow sounds fine to me. Always some bitterness from being enslaved.

So we returned to the gnomes, reported our findings, and we can head back out for the drow after a long rest. Thurnir has prepared the spell magic weapon, but probably will use it on himself. he’s for going to find the drow.
The Drow were turned to stone by the Medusa that was living in the area that we took out - Ogermach's Bane seems to 'animate' a batch of these stone drow at a time to attack us when we entered the room - there is nothing left of their gear, magical or otherwise.
LOL. Ok, so we still have two options on the table. Oozes up north, or petrified drow/Ogremoch's Bane in the Rockblight.
Btw, since ArgentTheWise hit the nail right on the head, I will confirm his post. Drow soldiers were petrified by the Medusa and Ogremoch's Bane animates those for his own use.
A quick post. Your options, as far as I can see are:
Of course, you can all come up with things to do that are not in that list.

I’m good with clearing some oozes to the north, or going to fight the drow mentioned. Lead on- thurnir will go where you want. :)
So, catching up on your planning here. I see two options mentioned:
Thurnir seems good to go either way. What do the others choose?
Toss a coin? :)

Oh! I never thought of it from that angle - that it's just animating every stone creature. That makes so much sense yet never occurred to me.
Lets go clear out some oozes and slimes then from the distraction area. up north.

Let’s go for the petrified drow. Unless the gnomes have some magic weapons we can buy/ borrow? :)
Sure, we can do drow too. We have multiple days awailable for us and clearing out the drow will not take a lot of time.
Post out in the main thread. Do you continue into the chamber with the petrified drow?
