Need 3 Survival successes to navigate the webs (make progress on the upward climb) before arriving at a 'story' encounter. Each time a survival attempt is made, the group makes Stealth or Survival checks versus an encounter DC of 18.
So far your party has succeeded on one Survival check (4622) and failed on one encounter check (4623).
Is everyone finished with their short rest and ready to proceed with the climbing? Are you going to keep the 'marching order', having Skameros climb with Spider Climb (requires spell slot from Rodolfo) to find attachment points for a rope so the others can follow?
Do I understand correctly that the "grease" will also help somewhat with traveling? Or .. rather.. should we encounter something then the encounter would have different movement mechanics?
You can use the grease for travelling. You would need to apply to every party member that doesn't have something like Spider Climb, so up to 6 applications. Using the grease will replaces the Survival check with a party DC 10 DEX Saving throw to see if you all make any progress.
If you do use the grease in this way, and I do happen to roll an encounter, then you all go into the encounter with the grease applied.
The grease eliminates the difficult terrain penalty of moving on the webs. But it does introduce the chance of falling due to slipping if you fail on a DC 10 DEX Saving throw. This save has to be made for every movement during combat. A fail on the saving throw means you become prone and restrained by the webs as your body (not hands or feet) land on a strand of web. Removing the restrained condition requires an action from yourself or an ally, and standing takes half your movement as usual.

Replacing the Survival check with a low DC DEX check sounds good, but a DEX save for every move in combat?
Grease sounds terrible for melee fighters. If Beegred had more arrows that might not be so bad, but he is running low.
Since Beegred is Lucky and has DEX save proficiency, not so bad (fail 10%). But Skameros is going to fail 1/3 of the time, on average.

I don't know if you noticed, but every time the kuo-toa or derro moved during the last battle, they rolled a dex save.
There's no free lunch in The Silken Path. Webs are meant to trap and hold prey, not act as ropes and bridges. Subverting their nature causes other complications.
I have mispoken. Just to be clear... Spider Climb works to remove the difficult terrain condition imposed by the webs. Spider Climb would ALSO allow Skameros to climb the actual wall.
Grease would only work to remove the difficult terrain condition of the web, in exchange for a DC 10 DEX Saving Throw.
I was writing the next progress check and stopped because I feel I should ask: Now that you have access to the grease to navigate the webs, which do you prefer to determine if you make any progress:
A group DC 10 DEX Saving throw since you're applying the grease? If someone has spider climb, that person automatically succeeds on this.
Skameros (or another character) takes point and rolls a Survival check?
Speaking out loud - we do all have at least +2 Dex saves (two people have +6 and +7) so law of averages says we should be ok with a group dex save - assuming it's adding all the saves up and dividing by the number of characters and hope we beat 10)
And I don't really mind burning a spell slot for Spider Climb on Skameros to REALLY tip the scales in our favor on that one. Consider it done (marked off the spell slot).
Refreshing my memory on the mechanics:

Finished rest . Yes agree with idea of having Skameros lead with rope and spider climb, and grease idea

Ok, grease on everyone AND spider climb (on Skameros) it is. Marked off the spell slot. Or shloud Skameros go with just the spell?
Grease and spider climb is overkill. Spider Climb would allow Skameros to climb the wall of the rift, but grease would let him climb the webs instead.
Ok, lets go with Grease then and at the beginning of a combat Rodolfo can hit Skameros with Spider Climb.

There are 5 of you. To succeed on a group check, 3 of you need to succeed. Simple as that.
Yeah we should go with the group DEX check.

Sorry guys. I was rushing to get a package out last night and it completely slipped my mind that I wanted to get the new encounter started.
Ignore me, I'm being dumb. It's the same map and I already uploaded most of the tokens I need. So combat started, map posted!
What kind of damage are those claws doing?
