Derendil speaks urbane elvish and mopes and complains about his curse and how he's losing himself. In battle, the elf prince disappears and the quaggoth viciousness takes full hold.
if this is the case, would he actually disengage and pull back? Or would the quaggoth viciousness keep him fighting? I retreated based on your comment that he wouldn’t sacrifice himself, but does that apply to both the prince and the quaggoth or just the prince? Based on Wounded Fury I’d think quaggoth in general would get more enraged and fight harder, not pull back
Narstin is happy to retreat to the tower. He has no weapon or armor to be melee fighting anyway, and can sacred flame from there as easy as from anywhere. With the drow down, I plan to have Derendil see if he can convince the Quaggoth to stop fighting (unless more drow show up before he can give it a go)

Sarith is going to do the same thing. He was waiting for the last drow guard Imbros to fall. Hopefully Sarith succeeds, or Derendil does.
As long as the quaggoths are confused or moving away for 3-4 rounds, everyone can get into the tower. (We need that long since only 1 person at a time on the bridge, and limited number of squares near the tower entrance.)

I didn't actually read Topsy's thoughts. :-) There was a discussion about retreating to the tower earlier in the fight, so it wouldn't be surprising if the characters who didn't hear Topsy were thinking of it.
It was impractical earlier with the drow guards (inside the tower and north) and quaggoth fighting. With the drow guards dead and some (most?) of the quaggoth confused, this might be the time to retreat.

Forgive me for slowing things up a bit, my fellow adventurers, but can I have a confirmation regarding the extent of the damage taken by the quaggoth that currently stands at O9? I've tallied a total of 46 points of damage.
-7 (according to table in post #345)
-15 (according to table in post #399)
-3 (according to table in post #428)
-17 piercing damage from Eldeth's arrows in post #430
-4 from Narstin's spell in post #434
I'm trying to role-play Tozer appropriately. If this quaggoth appears near death, then he would likely seize the chance to finish it off.
Damage has been spread between two quaggoth. The one on the stair has accumulated 27 damage. The one currently in the prison cell has 29 damage.
I was going to make you roll perception to be able to know this, but if you look at the combat tables, it shows what quaggoth suffered what damage (unless I forgot to enter it). But I keep track of all HP via Roll20 so I don't have to scroll back in the forums.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I'm assuming the persuasion attempt for Derendil would be his action. If not, he'll be ready to attack the quaggoth in the cell next to him if it looks like his attempt didn't work on it.
I'll rule that in this case, it uses his action. Can still move though.
That's what I figured would be the case, which is why I didn't put it in the other post, just as a backup in case. He'll stay put for now to see if his words have any effect (and not give the quaggoth by him a free shot by moving away from it)
If Jimjar dashes across the bridge this round, he'll end up at H9, squarely in the doorway and thereby complicating things for those who cross the bridge after him (Ront, Narstin, and Derendil). Should he wait another round, allowing the others to dash across first?
As far as Ront... This round I almost had him Disengage, then run half-way across the bridge, screwing JImjar and everyone else, because he is a selfish, evil bully. But I can justify IC that getting hit caused his temper to get the better of him. Everyone should cross the bridge while they can, before Ront decides to be a jerk next round.
The real question is Topsy and Turvy. Were they going to cross? Earlier in the fight, they said they wanted everyone to clear out so they could fight better, or something like that. I don't know if they were stubbornly going to hold the back line or what.
My suggestion: If Topsy and Turvy are not going to cross, then Jimjar should get to H9. At the top of the initiative order, Sarith will Shove him to G8. (Jimjar does not have to contest the shove, if he is willing.) Then Beegred will Dash to H9, and have Valthana Shove him to G10... That will leave Narstin and Derendil... (This is why I was hoping Sarith's ruse would confuse the quaggoths for more than just one round.)

Topsy and Turvy, in Jimjar's mind anyway, are holding their ground and preparing to do something drastic. He's wholly unsure of what that might be, however. That settles it. To the guardtower, turtle Jimjar!
I told myself that if the Quaggoth got to within 10 HP and trigger their Wounded Fury ability, they would absolutely use it, fighting to kill while they tried to escape.
I was afraid of taking out Narstin, but that worked out beautifully. Phew.

Don't think of it as a mindless rage, but an increased intensity as the beast tries to survive.
Cool. Just wnana make sure I play him right :)
@ Quasi, Vander, and bold...
What are your thoughts about the words of Topsy here? Now that Imbros has fallen, do we retreat into the tower?

Possibly, but if I'm not mistaken Xilyrah is not privy to the telepathy. She wouldn't hear that.

Everyone except for Tozer and Derendil were covered with spores. Xilyrah does hear the telepathic communication.
Thanks. I'm actually putting a spreadsheet together to keep track. I feel so behind trying to catch up.
