Looking at the floor of the cavern, most of the pieces of crystal that broke off from the clusters seem to have been ground down into smaller pieces, some as fine as sand, others the size of pebbles. If you want pieces large enough to hold and look through, you will have to break some of the nearby clusters.
Rodolfo quickly picks up a few pieces and says, "Lets... hide somewhere and see who comes investigating. Maybe that way," as he points to the right. "The path goes up a bit and we can be far away and keep an eye out." (east and the southward fork)

Rodolfo leads the rest of the party past the burrow entrance leading downward to go up the rising path heading east. You go forty or fifty feet and then press yourselves into various dark nooks and depressions. Waiting for your breathing and hearbteats to calm, you listen...
Although you don't see anything, Beegred and Narstin are certain they hear a creature moving around in the vicinity of the cavern with the petrified gnome. The creature doesn't appear to be making any effort to be stealthy as it is noisy, but it seems to stay in darkness where it can't be seen.
Continuing on the eastward rising path, you eventually find yourselves back at the pool fed by the waterfall with the two rough hewn stairs leading up to the cave with the winged statues.
(At this point, having the map isn't going to let you make a B-Line to the Menhir, so here is what the rockblight looks like, minus the Mehnir. I removed it from the image, as you still have to find it.)
Beegred starts up the closest stairs (north of the pool).
He gestures for the others to wait at the base, and tip-toes up the stairs. The plan is to get just high enough to peak over the top step, see what there is to see (darkvision), then go back down to inform the others. (He is invisible, if the creature is using darkvision.) Stealth check: 21

Melting into the darkness, Beegred stealthily makes his way up the stairs to the top of the waterfall, where he once again sees the crystal clusters and the shelf further at the back, with the two winged statues. Moving deeper into this cave, he climbs the second set of stairs far enough to peek over the lip of the top stair.
There is very little in this cavern of note. Either there was very little here in ancient time, or it was thoroughly looted.
Beegred perception check: 13 (Prof. doubled for Favored Terrain)
Beegred is fairly certain the statues are not part of the shelf. The talons are dug into the stone and have a clear delineation. There's also something else... like the floor and walls ripple due to movement. But trying to look at the movement reveals nothing.

Beegred slips back to the group, and informs them of what he observed.
When he is done: "Does that sound like gargoyles to you? Statues clawing into stone has me thinking something creature like is up there. And the strange ripples... might it be an illusion, hiding another room? Hopefully not another see-thru ooze.
"I think it is worth looking into, but it probably means another messy fight. What do you think? Fight, or back away?"

Rodolfo says, "Lets keep this in mind and come back here once we have looked at other paths. We may have to have more than one messy fight here and we should pick the place and the fight in our favor. We definitely don't want to have a loud fight in middle of the area."
"If you think we should check everywhere else, before maybe a secret room... you're the brains. Lead on." (Beegred will wait for Rodolfo and Skameros to decide.)

Rodolfo explains, "No, the secret room idea is good, but it's a fairly central location here with at least two paths. You're a great fighter - would you rather fight where someone could sneak up on you or not? I would prefer a place where there is less surprises."
He leads back to where the first unexplored area is and whispers, "I think it's best you do the sneaking part, Beegred."

Not 100% sure, but are you talking about the room with the petrified gnome, he two burrow entrances and the stairs down the cliff face?

Skameros will swing his greataxe at some of the crystals
Tabaxi with a penchant for shenans. He will....shenan again...
With a loud 'CRACK' that echoes in the cavern, you now find yourselves with various size pieces of crystal scattered about, plenty to have one each.
Rodolfo quickly picks up a few pieces and says, "Lets... hide somewhere and see who comes investigating. Maybe that way," as he points to the right. "The path goes up a bit and we can be far away and keep an eye out." (east and the southward fork)

Skameros is an ambush predator by nature and will hide as best he can and wait to see if the creature will head towards them.
[Stealth: 12]
Perhaps a large brown creature doesn't blend well with crystals hehe
Tabaxi with a penchant for shenans. He will....shenan again...
A very tall and large Skameros tries to hide behind a very thin and short stalagmite.
Regardless, as the others also make their preparations, time passes and nothing happens. The sounds of movement fade and can no longer be heard.
Rodolfo breathes out and looks upward on the path they were hiding on. "Lets check this route out?"

He also sees if he can maybe tie some bit of leather together with his crystal piece to wear over his eyes without having to hold it
