"I always keep my axe sharp" Gruun gives Therien a brief glare before beginning to battery the door down.
Athletics: 22 or Attack: 15 Damage: 9 (I keep doing both because I'm seeing this as a shoulderbash first, then a swing using his moment of a back step then repeating.)
OOC: These should be base STR checks for Gruun, without the Athletics proficiency. And once more for the money...
Gruun STR: 14 Greataxe Attack: 8 Damage: 9
Gruun puts his lanky, taut muscles to work, repeatedly slamming himself and his axe into the second wooden door. With each blow, the wood buckles more and more, and with the third strike of his axe the barbarian fully chops through the door that once was.
"Alright, now we're getting somewhere," Bartle prods, letting out a nasally whoop.
Beyond the door, the corridor turns immediately to the east.
Tracking: There are two separate passages open in the north wall, aside from the passage you entered through. There is an iron door along the east wall, which leads to a cave-in. There is a stone door along the south wall, which is locked. This massive room is filled with piles and piles of fist-sized diamonds.
Therien is tempted to ask Bartle about which passage to take but thinks the better of it. "Thank you, Gruun."
The elf then steps over the wooden fragments and splinters of the second door destroyed by Gruun and follows the corridor to the east. Fargim's demise is still fresh in his mind; so Therien commits considerable focus to the floor, walls, and ceiling as he goes...
OOC: Catching up on XP, each character has gained 200 XP for spotting the two traps on the wooding doors.
The corridor is dusty but dimly lit by the same glowing fungus that lines the walls of the rest of the cavern. Along the side of the wall 40 feet ahead of the door is a lone sarcophagus, standing upright.
20 feet further, the corridor turns to the north. A beautiful chandelier hangs above this turn in the corridor, with an intricate gold leafing that eerily reflects the glowing light of the fungus. The light from the chandelier, however, burned away long ago.
"Hox, if the plain wooden doors were trapped I'm sure this will be as well. Proceed with caution small one." Gruun takes a quick look to spot traps in the area around the coffin.
The carvings and decoration of the sarcophagus give no indication of who may be within. Therien and Gruun look over it thoroughly, but see no sign of a trap.
"This lacks creativity, I know,"remarks Therien. As he has done multiple times with the doors they've encountered, the elf uses Mage Hand in an attempt to trigger any trap and, then, if possible, open the sarcophagus. He stands thirty feet away and asks the others to stay behind him.
Therien's spectral hand struggles against the weight of the sarcophagus lid, only able to crack it open. There are no other ill effects, and no sign of a trap activating.
"Should I open the other wooden door as well? Then we can try and determine the correct path and direction to travel."
OOC:
"I think so, Gruun. Swing away while the axe is sharp."
OOC: The stone door doesn't have a handle so much as just pushes open, but is obviously locked firmly in place.

Hox starts to look about near the sarcophagus, wondering if it holds any treasures within it.
(He think's it pretty door.)

Therien nods as he listens to Gruun's words. He then strains his eyes, looking closely at the sarcophagus for any signs of trouble...

"I surmised the lid would be too heavy for such a spell," remarks Therien aloud. He then approaches the sarcophagus and lifts the lid himself.
Therien pulls the sarcophagus open. Its lid opens on a hinge, rather than sliding aside, and within the sarcophagus is a concealed wooden door.

(Interesting. A secret compartment door? Or a full-sized door?)
OOC: Full sized, it looks similar to the two doors Gruun has destroyed.

"And I nearly ignored this sarcophagus altogether," remarks Therien aloud. He then leans in and studies the door from top to bottom...
"I do wonder where this might lead us."
Therien studies the door. Nothing about it seems out of place, other than the fact that it was found inside of a standing sarcophagus.
