Lia walks close to the rear of the group. She pivots from side to side with her bow ready. She tries to close out the stench from her mind.
Mari walks along on the balls of her feet up front with Poljen. Twin blades are gripped tightly in her hands. She listens intently for any hint of a trap or danger ahead.
Silas scurries into Velon's pack once more as the group sets off into the sewers. Shortly after they set off, Velon can hear Silas whispering to him using a message spell. "Our new friend is a wererat. I've smelled his kind before. As conniving as their kind tend to be, he should be useful down here. If the Xanathar intend something, he's not much of a physical threat for the likes of us, especially on his own. Most likely he is here to report on our position and actions, although he could also have been told to lead us into a trap."
Gerrick leads you on into the sewers, winding through the twisting tunnels. The sewers underneath Waterdeep are a dangerous collection of natural fissures and construction from what looks like a half dozen different civilizations. At some point, Gerrick slows up and points down a passage, "There's a cavern down there that might serve for a big ritual hideaway. Only catch is there's a nest of particularly big and tough otyughs along the way. Nasty tentacled things that eat sewage. They may or may not be aggressive depending on how much food has flowed through here lately. We could try slipping on past and hope they leave us be, or you could just attack and wipe them out. Up to you, but either way I'm not going in there first."
Velon smiles and says "Lawrance, I can think of at least a handful of your many talents that would give us a peak; eyes, robes, familiars, perhaps teleports even, no?"
Lawrance asks "If you would give me a few minutes, we should probably be prepared for the conditions we may encounter here. I'd like to prepare us all with Water Breathing, since we might end up swimming through this stuff at some point. Also want to do the regular Bond, but only if we have time."

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
"I could use the Arcane Eye as we've done before, and see what's up ahead. It lasts a while, so if there are other places to search, that would be the time to use it."
Lawrance spends the short time to imbue everyone with the ability to survive underwater, and then links the party into the by now familiar psychic loop. The mental clutter in his mind a bit much for a moment, he soon gets the hang of the multiple channels of minds.
OOC - Water breathing for ten, Telepathic bond for eight. I only count 7 PCs but he's not going to include the Eye members in the Bond. Any of the Eye's want the water breathing, they can have the spare slots.
To the guide, he responds "Please get us to the edge of their lair, and we'll take it from there. It'd be a waste if we fought the creatures and found nothing of worth beyond them. "

Lia puts her hand on Velon's arm and strength passes into him. She also holds up her bracelet and more magic surges into Velon. " It is a good time to prepare for anything. That will keep you alive my love. "
OOC: She cast death ward on Velon which lasts 8 hours. Lia also used her bracelet to grant Velon a plus 4 to AC as long as they are within 30 feet.
Velon covers Lia's hand with his own gently, not wanting his gauntlet to bruise the hand of the fair cleric of Sune. He smile at her and then nods to their guide to do as Lawrance asks.
Cratol follows along towards the front but allowing the others more versatile with stealth to be ahead of him. He keeps his ears and eyes open for anything that may cause a issue to them when they get ready to head down to this latest area with known monsters inside he nods to the wise choice to be bonded in thought again prior to moving forward once that Lawrence has scouted ahead with his magic.
Gerrick waves for Lawrance to go ahead. His magical eye snakes through a long and wide passage filled with a depth of refuse that makes the wizard glad the eye doesn't include olfactory data. The grotesque forms of otyughs can be seen lounging in the filth.
Eventually, the eye makes its way into a large cavern. It looks like Gerrick was right about it being well suited for a large magical ritual, but right now the only occupants he can see are a couple of cloakers roosting on the ceiling, the somewhat batlike predators fluttering about slightly.

Since everyone is able to see the images of the Eye through the link, Lawrance merely 'paths #Moving on? Or do any of you see something worth fighting those Oaty-ughs for?#

Since no one spots anything out of the ordinary, Lawrance brings the eye back up the monster infested passageway. While the spell lasts, he then sends it ahead of the group in the direction their guide indicates.

The group moves on, passing by the otyugh tunnel. The next probable site is reached without incident and confirmed to be empty.
On approaching the third, the Arcane eye spots an unusual creature patrolling the next tunnel. It resembles a spider the size of a wagon, but its exoskeleton appears to be composed of bone, stone, and some manner of all black metal. Its forelimbs are tipped with cleaver like blades, and its eyes glow a harsh red.
It does not appear to have noticed the scrying sensor, it keeps moving, slowly crawling along the ceiling of the tunnel.
Morgaine being between the front and rear; follows the group along the passageways silent but aware of things around her.
She keeps her scimitar at the ready and makes sure her quiver is in easy reach as it lays across her back. She feels the familiar mental link once it is put into place, but stays as silent as she can. She takes in all the information that the 'eye's brings to her and isnthnkful that they decided to bypass the one passage.****y to come across a giant spider.. she grips the scimitar tighter ready to fight this creature if necessary.
OoC: sorry I've not posted in some time. I'm no longer staying with my oldest child and gotten a place of my own. I dont have internet yet, but can ONLY replay to post via my phone..so in other words, I cant do any rolls of any sort within DnD. I also only have so much data per month for my phone so I wont do discord to it..for it just doesn't have the space.
Dia if it's easier to have Morgaine as a NPC for now, that Is fine by me. She can hang out in Waterdeep at the castle and help out there. I dont wish to keep the rest of the group held up because of me.
#Let's see if it's guarding anything, or it's just one of the many random magical experiments of Waterdeep's many half-baked mages.# Lawrance sends to the group, as he sends the Eye past the creature, low and distant, to see if there is more to see beyond.
OOC - Not wanting to get too close, in case it can detect the Eye, it'll hug the floor and zip past. If the creature reacts, we'll go from there.

The Arcane Eye hugs the floor and continues on. You think you can hear a faint rythmic sound down the tunnel ahead. A yellowish crystal is embedded in the wall, as the eye approaches, it flashes, and your view goes dark as the spell ends.
Out loud, Lawrance says "I think we've found the cavern, people. We'll have to confront that big, nasty construct first, but the cultists are probably past the crystal defense."Lawrance reviews his spells, casting Mage Armor from his stored spells in the Ring, re-energizing his Arcane Ward.
"This ambulatory arachnid is a demonic construct from the forges of Abaddon. They are fast, strong and usually have some powerful elemental attacks and resistances. Each one is unique,in the element it can project depending on the materials they are created from, and they sometimes have special powers they are granted during their forging, so be wary. "
To Asling he says #Be ready with the Sphere, dear. Magic is probably going to be a big mess in that place, once we engage the group.#
*Oh, good! This spell seems like a fun one to use!*
#Fun. Um, okay, not exactly how I'd think of it.#
-She's just wanting to help and be involved, you know- Gamliel adds.
#Nothing wrong with that. Okay. It'll be fun. In fact, if it works as it needs to, seeing their faces when their spell dies on it WILL be fun!#

Velon whispers to Silas via Message and asks "care to join us for this?"
Before taking any action Velon quietly asks their escort "can you describe the hallways ahead and the chamber?" "How many entrances or exists are there? Can we get in another way, or get above or below the chamber? We're already going in blind, so I just want to know all I can about the location, at least."
Cratol waits for the order to head forward to take on this spider or hear that there may be another way in. Knowing that they were getting close to their goal of hitting the cultists again and foiling their plans yet again was what this was all about.
