A while back I made a thread to gauge interest about a campaign idea and it seemed that a few people were interested so I fleshed out the one shot.
The Village of Nowhere.
The Village of Nowhere, is a small backwater village located in the Kingdom of Nowhere which is located in Nowhereland. You will be effectively playing as level 0 characters. More specifically, it will be like playing NPCs in someone else adventure. You will use the Commoner stat block. However, not everyone will be proficient in a club. Your profession (Not limited to jobs. Examples include: Farmer, Drunk, Pervert, Woodcutter's Daughter, Poor kid etc.) will determine what proficiencies (skill, equipment, tools, saving throws) you have, if you have any at all. The profession will take the place of your background (using the site's custom background feature). You will be basically doing Commoner things in the village. You will also get racial bonuses to stats but no other race features except for stuff like darkvision.
This is also a lighthearted and silly game without being completely insane. However there will be some random moments because now, scoring nat20 on a skill check means you instantly succeed. Nat1s are kinda bad news now in skill checks.
Your Goal: Get to level 1 Prevent: The whole village dying to something stupid like 2 goblin attacking.
I will make another post regarding character creation rules.
Joben the halfling pervert who works part time on the neighboring chicken farm often visits the Village of Nowhere with a basket of eggs hoping to make a handful of silver.

For character creation follow the format posted below.
Name: Commoner McNPCson Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 32 Profession: Pervert Relationship: (Say who your character lives with or if they live alone) Travels together with Sister who is also pervert. Backstory: (Is your character a local or are they staying in Nowhereland for a few days? If the later, why? Keep in mind that they can't have traveled from very far away since they are still level 0) Commoner McNPCson was born in the neighboring town of Nobodycaresville. He and his twin sister got kicked out for sneaking into the bath house. They have now traveled to the Village of Nowhere to start a new life. Hopefully they won't get caught sneaking in this time.
Personality: McNPCson is a very energetic kind of guy. Too bad he spends all that energy doing non-productive things. He works odd jobs to get enough money to pass the week. He is a content man and is generally happy about his life.
Relationships - Detail: (What is your character's relationship like with the guy they staying with? If they are staying alone, what's their relationship to closest family members?) NPCson's parents died when he was 16. He still feels sad but he has mostly gotten over it. He has a really good relationship with his sister. The two siblings would do anything for each other. However they still bicker from time to time. They don't stay mad at each other for two long though.
Class Restrictions: Class? Just pick any class randomly. It doesn't matter since nothing from that class will be used at level 0. When you get level 1, you'll be able to pick a class properly then. So, you won't be stuck with the class you pick now.
Race Restrictions: Human, Elf (No drow), Dwarf, Dragonborn, Halfling, Halfelf, Halforc, Human Variant and Tiefling. *Variants will all be taken from Basic Rules/PHB.
@GuppySan: Just saw your post. Was writing up the character creation rules. Yeah I'm looking for 4-6 players
@Brian: Hey! Nice to see you here again. Fill out the character form. Though I think it would be better if Joben lives in the village. We have a farm here too so everything else can stay the same.
Name: Winn Areli Race: Half-elf Gender: Female Age:24 Profession: Innkeeper's Niece Relationship: Lives with her aunt in her aunt's inn Backstory: Winn is a local. Her parents left when she was very young for an unknown reason. She's been living with and working for her aunt ever since.
Personality: As an innkeeper's niece, Winn has heard fantastic stories of travelers who come by, but has accepted that she will likely never live a story of her own. Still, you can't blame a girl for daydreaming. Due to her always being in her head, she can be ditzy and clutzy and often tunes people out, even when they're talking directly to her. Not exactly a good thing for a waitress, but since she's family, she's able to keep her job.
Relationships - Detail: She's been raised by her aunt since she was young, so she often looks to her aunt as another mother. Though her aunt often berates her to pay more attention, the two of them love each other very much and would be devastated if they lost each other.
(Hope this is okay~ I'll make any changes if I need to)
Name: Johnnie O'Brave Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 24 Profession: Town Drunk Relationship: Lives alone in a broom closet at the Inn. Does odd-jobs for the owner in exchange for room, board, and ale. Backstory: Johnnie stumbled into town dragging a cart with an almost empty keg of Ale, drunk out of his mind, not knowing where he was. Walked right into the Inn and offered his services, any services, for a place to sleep, something to eat, and something to drink. Recently, he's been taking it easy on the Ale in order to keep up with the work he's been given so he can afford more ale... inflation is a burden for the town drunk.
Personality: Johnnie O'Brave is a huge flirt. If it walks and talks, he will hit on it. Otherwise, he does what work is assigned to him, and ends his day at the Inn/Bar with an ale in one hand and holding himself upright with the other.
Relationships - Detail: The Innkeep puts up with Johnnie. When he sets his mind to a task, he gets it done and that's what counts. They've gotten into it the first few weeks he arrived due to his insatiable flirting, but have, perhaps, found a middle ground; but give him an inch and he'll try and take a mile.
(Sorry Peachy... had this guy in mind before seeing your character...)
Name: Joben Race: Halfling Gender: Male Age: 27 Profession: Pervert Relationship: Works part-time at the local farm and sleeps in the barn. Backstory: Joben was unruly as a child and his parents sent him to live with a stern uncle. One day his uncle never returned from going on an adventure and Joben packed up and set off to find him. He never made it that far as right over the next hill or two he came across the Village of Nowhere and being hungry he made a deal to collect eggs for the farmer's family and he could keep any extras.
Personality: Joben is a pervert, but is considered harmless by the locals due to his small stature, and some even find his antics charming in an odd sort of way. He gets away with a lot due to his good looks, quick wit, and a whole lot of luck.
Relationships - Detail: The farmer let's him sleep in his barn and keep any extra eggs. Since Joben only works a couple of hours in the morning he spends the rest of the day selling the extra eggs he's collected and getting up to harmless mischief.

Name: William Brine Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 49 Profession: Woodcutter Relationship: lives alone with his daughter, Orianna
Backstory: William has lived in The town his whole life. He was brought up in the family business of logging and has been woodcutting since he was 10. He’s suffered his fair share of loss. He took over the family business when his father was killed in a tragic logging accident. He lost his wife when he was 37 and has been raising his daughter by himself ever since. Ever since then he’s done whatever needed to be done to give his daughter the best life possible.
Personality: William would do anything to protect his daughter. She is the only thing in his life that holds any meaning to him, as he has lost everyone else. Some people work for themselves, he works for Orianna.
Relationships - Detail: Orianna adores her father and feels safe when he’s around. William worries that his daughter spends too much time at the house and in the woods, helping with the business. He worries that she will become old before she realizes that he won’t be around forever, and that she needs her own companion. Ironically, Orianna has the same worries about her father and hopes that her hard work can help get him to a place where they both can cut loose more often.
Here we are. I decided to randomize the character using the 'This is Your Life' section of Xanathar's Guide to Everything, and... some of the numbers took a bit ^.^
Name: Orinyn 'Ori' Amulius Race: Tiefling Gender: Male Age: 41 Profession: Potter Relationship: I live with my brother Orric, in a small hunter's cabin. Backstory:
I am a Tiefling, one of a set of Tiefling triplets. My parents and other siblings are all human, though. They didn't even know we had this in our heritage. Some call it a freak occurrence. Some say it's a sign of evil. I couldn't say.
Aside from us, there are three older siblings, and four younger. We grew up okay. Dad moved us to a modest little home when the older kids moved out, but we grew up in a little shack on the edge of town. Others saw us as different and strange, so we didn't have many friends. Mom pulled us through with a garden - all us kids helped out. Dad was an 'entertainer' - he was always a little off in the head, so people say. I thought his jokes were funny.
I am 41 years old. In my time, I've made two passing enemies, and one good friend. In my youth, I found a treasure map - dad reckons it's just a fake thing, but I still have it, rolled up in a scroll. A little older, I took part in a small battle - just a few of us against some neighboring goblins really. My great uncle had left me a crossbow. It didn't help much - that small battle has left me terrible nightmares. During the battle, I was hit with some kind of spell - I'm not quite sure what it was meant to do, but my left leg still gives me trouble from it, and I often have a walking stick.
I worked for awhile as a hunter, but it wasn't for me. I like to call myself an artist. Painting, calligraphy, even some glassblowing and woodworking! But no one's interested. Today, I work as a potter, making ordinary sorts of things.
Personality: I come off as absent-minded, maybe a bit dreamy. I've always enjoyed the beauty of the world - and seen beauty where others do not. Maybe it's my heritage, but I try to bring to life the beauty I've seen. Unfortunately, most people don't have time for such frivolity. My triplet brother is patient with me, but most of the town less so. I tend to keep to myself... unless we go out drinking. I get a lot more chatty after that, though it's not always appreciated by others.
Relationships - Detail:
Our oldest Brother, Nash, works as a general laborer, and does all right for himself and his family - he's friendly to me.
The second born, Saku, was a brother growing up, but later claimed she was our sister. She's had problems adjusting in town, so she tends to go out exploring. I haven't seen her in a while, and our relationship was a bit strained.
Our older sister, Darian, is the academic sort. She studies the animals and plants in the area and gives advice to the hunters and farmers. She seems to do well, but she doesn't like me much.
Of the triplets, what can I say? My brothers and I grew up close because we were different. I'm still close with the middling brother, Orric, but the oldest of us, Osrin, decided he wanted to go on adventure. He wanted to be a monk, and wandered off to follow his calling. We had a terrible row before he left. I doubt he'll come back.
The next brother after us, Colt, works in town as a guard. He's never liked us much, though. He thinks we're bad luck, signs of evilness. He won't even give us the time of day.
After him was another brother, Rudi, though he sometimes takes after Saku. But he's alive and well - he's studying to be a mason while working as a farm hand.
Our youngest brother, Rhett, has always been a trouble-maker, but he's friendly to me. We'd never tell Colt, of course, but we're pretty sure he's responsible for a number of petty thefts around town.
And our youngest sister? I couldn't say. Aldith went missing some time ago. She was studying to be an herbalist. She liked things to be natural. Unlike us.
Backstory: Karl lived a generally peaceful early life of no great interest. When he was 20 his parents moved away because it was, as they said “Too boring.” Karl stayed because he didn’t mind a quiet life, but had to get a job because his mom and pop couldn’t support him anymore, them not being there.
Personality: Karl is a mild, peaceful man with a live and let live attitude. He lives a secluded life on the edge of town. He has no relatives and few friends, because he’s literally the guy who goes around, takes your money, and gives it to the government. Karl doesn’t mind much, because he still gets plenty of social contact with his work, but occasionally feels lonely.
Relationships -Detail: His main ”friend” is the mayor/ruler/government official of Knowhere (If there is one, if not, ignore this sentence) and their friendship is not very close. As previously stated, his parents moved away, but he still kind of keeps in touch with them via letters. Their relationship is also not very close.
Edit: Question: What’s your ruling on languages? Do we get them from our race, or does it not really matter, because they won’t be useful?
You get the extra language from your race for the most part. However, if there are other things that would normally give you languages, you won't have access to them at level 0.
Name: Chives Walsh Race: Half-Orc Gender: Female Age: 24 Profession: Tavern Wench Relationship: Chives lives with her lover Draup Steelbarrel, a dwarven minstrel. Backstory: Chives' mother, Greeba, was a smith in the nearby village of Obscureburg. While Greeba worked, Chives frolicked in the meadows, devoting her life to fun and games. One day, she was swept off of her feet by a charming troubadour visiting the town. Her love for him was the most passionate and excruciatingly delightful feeling she had ever felt. When he left, she promptly forgot about him. Soon after, Chives met a handsome dwarf by whom she was immediately bewitched. Her love for him was the most passionate and excruciatingly delightful feeling she had ever felt. When he left, Chives found herself following him, with hardly a thought for what lay behind her. They stopped at the village of Nowhere, where, after realizing that Draup made no profit from his trade, Chives got her first job: to serve the guests at the village inn. She enjoys chatting with the customers, although they do not always enjoy chatting with her.
Personality: Chives is whimsical and full of wonder. She appreciates pretty things, although she usually ends up accidentally breaking them after she has forgotten about them. Chives' passions are unbridled but ephemeral. She tends to follow her impulses and has few regrets.
Relationships - Detail: When she is with Draup, Chives can focus on little else, however when he is out of sight she spares few thoughts for him. Draup appreciates Chives' love but spends most his time attempting to ingratiate himself with the wealthier peasant wives in the hopes of obtaining some of their money. Whenever Chives meets someone heading to Obscureburg, she sends flowers for her parents with them.
