You can see on the pillars that there is graffiti written on them with a dwarven script. 

Evan: " Can anyone translate that script? "

Fin walks up to the Dwarven graffiti and tries and see what is says. He also looks around and tries to see if anything is suspicious. 12 (perception check)

Evan tries to figure out if there is a path that leads down the ravine [Perception 12].

Bree, you check the foundations of the pillar and find that it is sturdy and solid. It is worn down by the weather, but it is in fair condition and a great anchor for a rope.

The script, though in Dwarven, is in a language you don't understand. After looking at the script on the pillars you see that there is nothing suspicious around you. The ravine seems to run on for a long stretch, maybe another mile or so with an average depth if about 30 feet. 

"Looks like  our friends made camp here before heading down the hole. How does it look? Think it can hold my weight?", Erabor remarks.

Evan: " I guess there is only one way to find out where it leads. " Then, he tries a bit the stability of the rope and try to go down the ravine. Acrobatics: 4.

Ivor looks at the pillar, shrugs and says "Amin ere' quena elven..." which is elvish for I only speak elven.

He chuckles to himself and goes over to spot Evan's decent (Strength check (?) 23 or Athletics? 11)

Evan starts climbing down the rope, making his way slowly down using the hand and footholds along the way while Ivor holds onto the rope and with superior strength guides his decent. Evan, you make it about 100 feet down and you see that the wall with the footholds starts to give way to bricks that jut out of the wall. You can hear the faint echoes of your climb below you. 

OOG (Sorry the stupid question: So is there 100 feet below something to walk on?)

"Looks like we are all going down into the hole then." Erabor says matter of factly and jumps in as well. (Still holding the rope.)

(OOG Possibly, it is quite dark in here but you can make what appears to be a floor below you.) 

Erabor starts climbing down the rope after Evan, slowly making his way down into the darkness with his friend. 

Once ascertained the presence of a floor under his feet, Evan gives a look around (Perception: 9).

OOG ( I made the check with disadvantage, since I assumed that it is dim light for me, having Darkvision.)

Fin goes around, casting Guidance on all of his friends that haven't come down, planning to go last.

A sandy ledge overlooks a subterranean gulf of darkness to the west. The ledge is wide but rough. Sand, rocky debris, and the bones of small animals cover it. A roughhewn stairwell zigs and zags down the side of the ledge, descending into darkness. 

Ivor decides its his turn to go.  He ties his maul to his back and begins his descent.

"Anyone got a light? Can't really see anything here."
