William was having trouble with the dead rat stuck in the door. Chives then tackles the door and closes it, chopping the rat in half. Joben quickly bars the door just as it is closed. Almost immediately after the door is secured, something large bangs against it but the door doesn't open. You hear voices from the other side:
Giant Rat: Ow ow ow ow. Why did I do that? Why the **** did I do that? Rat Marine Pigeon Rider 1: Medic! Medic! Giant Rat Jones hit his head and got a concussion so bad, he's speaking Common. Medic! Rat Marine Pigeon Rider 2: But Jim, we Rat Marines always speak common.
What follows is a few minutes of dead silence. Then... Rat Marine Pigeon Rider 1: Medic! Medic! Giant Rat Jones hit his head and got a concussion so bad, he's speaking Common. Medic!
Meanwhile, a swarm of rats had entered after Draup but it got surrounded by your village henchmen and got beaten to death. Your are safe... at least for a few minutes.
Joben discovers that the floor of the blacksmith's place is made of floor. He is so surprised by it that he is unable to move and has an existential crisis.
Chives walks up to Joben. Keeping him as far away as she can, she pats him on the shoulder and asks "Are you okay? You look rather mystified. We've all had a stressful day."

William starts looking around, taking inventory of the blacksmith’s workings. He’s looking particularly for armor, shields, and weapons, while attempting to keep a mental stock of other tools and items.

“On second thought, maybe I better sit down. I appear to be so winded I’m having trouble seeing. Allie, Oro, and Enora, would y’all mind taking a look around for some weapons, armor, and anything else that looks interesting?”
Ellie gives a very animated salute while Oro nods before scatter to search for the equipment. Enora follows them quietly.
They find a bunch of equipment suited well for you all. (Everyone add starting equipment + Any one non-firearm weapon of your choice)
They also find in the next room, next to the back door the corpse of the blacksmith surrounded by dead rats. Looks like he died fighting and took a large number of them out with him.

Chives tries to look out the back door without being noticed.

Actually, I would ask for Stealth. Rolling for you "because unable to parse dice roll" Chives' stealth: 18
(Okay, was not expecting a nat20) Chives remains so well hidden that it's like she's Invisible
Chives creaks open the back door slightly and notices that there are no rats on the other side. She looks up and notices Rat Marine Pigeon Riders circling the blacksmith's hut. They haven't noticed her and she feels confident that she'd be able to pass along without being detected. The same can't be said for everyone else though. If a party as large as yours (without looking, I think there are 10-12 people) were to try and sneak out the back, the would surely be detected by the Pigeon Riders. With the organized but stupid rats gathering just at the front gate, you also would not have enough of a head start to get anywhere. However, it seems that the organized but stupid rats are relying on the literal bird's eye view to inform them of your movements.
If all of you have added starting equipment, then say what you wish to do. If not, then add it and then say what you wish to do. You don't have forever in this building for if you wait too long, the rats are likely to break through the front door. Also your henchmen have all gotten a random piece of weapon. Most of them didn't get armor because they suck at combat. They are 0 level NPCs after all.
The Pigeon Riders seem to use a miniature Fantasy Megaphone (these things exist in this world but they are usually not rat sized. As the name suggest, they make your voice louder). They say, "We have you surrounded. Surrender now and you will get the privilege of being served at the Rat King's victory feast." Then after a few seconds of silence another Rat marine speaks out, "Jim, we don't have them surrounded. The ground troops are just huddled around the front door." The voice which you assume belongs to Jim responds, "Don't worry about that. If they don't get out of the front door, how else will they leave?" "You have a point. Still, do you think we did the right thing saying we have them surrounded when we don't?" "Well, I don't think that's a problem. I mean how will they know we haven't got them actually got surrounded?" The words that followed immediately after conveys a emotion of panic which quickly turns to embarrassment with a pinch of nervousness added in, "... Wait. IS THIS THING STILL ON? Uh... Um... Er... Please ignore what you just heard. We were uh... only toying with you. Yeah! Psychological warfare and all that you know ha ha. You gotta get in the enemies head and mess with them. Yeah, that's Rat Marine training 101. Wait, why am I explaining myself to the enemy? ****!" You then hear a click as the Miniature Fantasy Megaphone turns off. Then you hear the sounds of bickering but the Pigeon Riders are too far away for you to make out what they are saying.
Out of Game: Upon some reflection, I have finally decided how much silliness I want to have in the campaign. I now know what must happen.
“Ok, hear me out... what if we open the front door and try to draw them in, and leave out the back door when they start to flood in and shut the back door behind us. Meanwhile, Chives can sneak around to the front and shut the door behind them. We’d have them trapped!”
Havena the teacher says, "Wouldn't the Rat Marine in the sky notice us exiting? Chives can probably sneak out but if all of us try to do it, then the Rat Marines would certainly spot us and inform the other rats of our location."
So... to recap, rats are flying on pigeons above you. The back door is secured but lacks rats. The front door is secured and has rats. 1 or 2 people can sneak out the backdoor but anymore than that will be spotted by the flying rats and the rats at the front will quickly circle around and be on top of you. What do you do?
So 11 total. 😬
Chives, you want to help him push the door: I.e roll Athletics and it will be added to the 11 for the final roll.
Chives helps push. "Aaaaaarggggh!
Athletics: 16

Is this one level or are there’s stairs?
The blacksmith's place is one level. However, the backdoor is not locked.
The Rats are coordinated; not smart. They didn't notice that one door is unlocked and is still trying to enter through the front.
Chives tries to look out the back door without being noticed.
