[Requital's Perception Check:] The dim, chaotic light penetrating the clouds and ever-shifting rain cast the space around you into odd, malevolent shapes. At one point, you could have sworn you caught a glimpse of a tall, thin figure watching from the side of the road up ahead, but it could just as easily have been your eyes playing tricks on you, as it resolves into nothing when you blink the water away.
Requital leans over and whispers to Black Rose. I thought I saw something ahead but now I'm not sure. You know how poor my eyes are and how my imagination runs. Keep a look out and let me know if you see anything.
Black Rose Perception Check (Yes my horse has a better perception than I do) : 3
[Black Rose's perception check:] The horse peered into the gloom of the bad weather, only for a large leaf to be swept across their face with a wet slap. A brief shake of the head dislodged the offending piece of foliage.
[Rio's perception check:] With sharp eyes, the dragonling managed to catch a glimpse of movement, shifts in the monotonous terrain. There! And again! Through the pounding rain, they could just barely make out the sight of shapes moving through the trees on either side of the path, keeping pace with the cart.
Sybil frowns as Rio swoops ahead towards Illanjura. "Rio has spotted something on the side of the road keeping up with us," she warns the others around the cart. In the meantime, Rio gets level with Illanjura and sends her an image of the shapes moving along the road, then starts doing loopty loops above the elf's head.
[Illanjura:] Illanjura's elven eyes pierce through the rain, catching sight of several stooped figures, garbed in mud-splashed cloaks, stalking towards her, moving between trees and toward the cart. They appear not to have noticed her yet.
With Requital's warning, the forest around the cart seems to roar with gutteral, gibbering barks. Illanjura sees the cloaked figures freeze, jabbering at each other, before surging forwards in the direction of the cart, with her in the midst of the group. Back at the wagon, the group hears the dull twang of a bowstring before an arrow comes flying out of the treeline, aimed directly at Mortise.
The halfling lets out a scream of pain as the arrow buries itself in her shoulder, before slumping forwards and going still. Numerous figures cloaked in mud-splattered grey dart out of the trees, their numbers concealed by the endless rain and their cloaks blending into the mud and fog around them. The glint of weapons can be seen, and vicious gibbering fills the air.
Huddled amongst the group as they pass her by Illanjura moves as quietly as she can, making sure to do nothing to draw attention to herself. As an arrow flies in the direction of the wagon, followed by a scream peircing through the sound of rain and gibbering. She grimaces as she realises that it must be Mortise who is hit.

Moving through the rain ahead of the wagon Illanjura keeps her keen eyes scanning the area for threats at all times.

Rio stops doing loopty loops and starts flying as far up as possible.
