You don't need to restart the long rest in the case of a short/normal-sized battle.
Strix, you are able to scalp the dead goblin successfully after a few minutes' effort.
Everyone heads back to rest, and Scupper and Vaz resume their watch. The remainder of the night is uneventful, and your rest comes to an end just after midnight. You are at the edge of the forest, perhaps thirty minutes' walk from the cave mouth; the sky is still fairly clear, though with some clouds passing over the moon from time to time.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Should we make our way back to the entrance of the cave, Varinth will look for his jerkin, empty wineskin and his Staff of Crumbling Charcoal. If they are not there he will shrug and see if he can find a straightish branch.
Mistweaver is silent as the group packs up the camp. She sits, and you can see she is working some magic, similar to what you saw the day before. In the end, she stands, a little awkwardly, and her hands are full of small purplish berries. She grimaces, produces a small bag from her pockets and tips the berries into the bag. Finally she walks over and hands the bag to Dario, who now has exactly twenty Goodberries. (If you have any berries from the day before, they should still be good until around noon).
I cannot go with you; she addresses this to Dario, but her voice is clear and she seems to be speaking to the group as a whole. I should perhaps say I am sorry, but I am not, so will not. This has nothing to do with you; she looks around at each of you in turn; you have been good travelling companions, though some of you need to think before you act perhaps, but good, nonetheless. You are not the reason I leave.
These last months, I have been plagued by visions, terrible visions of… she pauses. It doesn’t matter what the visions showed me. What matters is that the vision I had this night was of something new, something clear, that made known to me the path I must take to avert disaster. And that path is not with you. Zhudun wanders near, and I must follow him. He is not to be trusted, but nevertheless… She seems lost in thought for a moment, then her attention snaps back to you. She pauses, to try to gather her words for what she will say next.
DM, thanks for taking over Asher for me! I had a really big weekend. I put an offer on a house with my wife because our lease is up in the next 2 months and we are expecting a baby in August. So I will be on as much as possible, but like I said, while I'm at my desk from 8-5 Monday-Friday, I basically have the forum up all day and refresh it like every 5 minutes lol
If Asher sees Mistweaver leaving, he isn't affected or makes any attempts to say goodbye. Asher, now fully rested unclips his glaive. Asher will be near the front of the group, leading only if no one else wants to, and is trembling with excitment as they get closer to the mouth of the cave.
Welcome back. And wow, congratulations. And also, congratulations! :) So, you're planning a quiet, uneventful year, eh?
Asher and Dario can still make an attack on Goblin 1, if you wish to try to kill it before Vaz.
Lol maybe wishing for a quiet year!!!!! But don't see it happening haha
Asher will make an attack, but seeing as he was at low health, his bonus action would have been his second wind. I know we're at full health now, but that's what he would've done. So I'll just make one glaive attack:
Action: Glaive Attack - Attack: 18 Damage: 6
Great Weapon Fighting Roll: If the damage die roll is a 1 or 2 use the following roll: If the attack misses, or is 3 or higher ignore this roll: 11
Mistweaver, I’d not see you walk this path alone, it’s too dangerous. I know I’ve not proved myself worthy of the task, but if you’d have me I would join you and offer what protection I could.
Dekhan draws his sword and kneels, offering the sword to Mistweaver.
Dario listens to Mistweaver and takes the remaining Goodberries from her. He puts his hand on her shoulders and gives it a little squeeze "Mistweaver, you have been a able ally to all of us. I hope our paths cross again, but until then, I wish you hope in your cause, strength in your undertaking, and luck if you ever need it."
Asher's out of range for a glaive attack, I'm afraid. He can make a ranged attack with his crossbow if he wishes.
Mistweaver seems stunned to see Dekhan kneeling before her. She opens and closes her mouth and few times, and it's clear that whatever she had planned to say next, he has completely thrown her. She ignores Dario completely; she may not even have heard his words.
Slowly, hesitantly, she reaches her hand forward and takes Dekhan's sword, holding it up in front of her, turning it to catch the moonlight, and you can see the reflected light as it bounces off the trees that surround you. I took this job, she says, to herself but you all hear it. A quest, to bring this wagon of supplies to Phandalin. But more than that. We know that our employer has been taken against his will. Our obligation to rescue him, if we can, is very clear. I cannot simply abandon this quest. But I see now that I can pass it on.
Dekhan, Mistweaver, still holding your sword, looks down into your eyes, and when she speaks, it is with the authority and presence of a queen: You. ‘Paladin’. You hear the same hint of contempt and mistrust from the day before, but the determination and confidence in her voice are growing stronger as she speaks. I pass this quest, this obligation, onto you. You will accompany my companions to Phandalin as they complete their delivery. You will assist them as they investigate the disappearance of Gundren Rockseeker. You will find Rockseeker, and deliver him alive to safety, or bring his body to his family, or you will die in the attempt. Her words are ringing out through the forest, and can likely be heard for some distance around. You will swear upon your honour, and upon the Ancients you claim to follow, that you will undertake this quest. You will give your life for this, if that is what is required of you, ‘paladin’. She almost spits the last word, and stands, awaiting your response.
Before Mistweaver gave her first speech Dario makes an attempt to shoot down Goblin 1 with his long bow.
Attack: 12
Long Bow Damage: 6
After attempting to take down Goblin 1, Dario reels back as Mistweaver waves Dekhan's sword and orders him to give his life to the crew. Dario takes a step back an awaits for Dekhan's response.
Dario, your shot misses the Goblin, and the arrow sails off into the forest towards an unknown target. After the battle, you all finish your long rest (it takes about an hour more), and then when you wake and are packing up camp, Mistweaver announces her intention to leave.
Asher has a crossbow, but will never use it lol so Asher would've just moved in the middle of the area that way maybe someone would provoke an opportunity attack.
Congrats, Squigs. This won't make sense right now, but in about 3-5 years you and the mrs will be looking at your behaviour and thinking "this can't be normal". It is. And any time you're worried, just google parenting memes and you will find around 50 that feature whatever word you just had to scream 40 times before anything happened. Those memes exist because other people find them funny, and other people find them funny because those other people are doing exactly what you're doing. That should save you a few sessions of therapy.
Strix watches Mistweaver prepare to take her leave. Hmmmmm - if she were going to steal the cart, she'd know that it's worthless unless they can rescue their employer.... but if she's not going to steal the cart, why take off in the middle of the night with Goblins abroad.... Still, she can handle herself, and if she runs into a patrol or two, that's another 3-6 goblins that won't be waiting in the cave. Worst case they confront her in Phandelver with the employer in their debt and odds of 6-attrition to 1. Safe bet. Stay with the numbers, stick with the plan - deliver the cart, fulfill the favour, reap the rewards.
"Safe travel"he calls, wondering who Zhudun is. Sounds fearsome. Like a bear. He hopes it's not a bear, but Strix has heard stories about what druids get up to in the woods. Probably best not to stand in her way.
With his gear safely stowed, he performs an accelerating sun salutation to loosen up, slow, deliberate movements speeding up into rapid series of gestures and poses, though it feels strange to perform it to the moon. While waiting for the party to depart, he practices throwing his axe at a tree-trunk. With the druid gone, their ranged capacity is diminished - more than ever it's important that he extend his consciousness beyond the pads of his fingers to the bleeding edge of the hatchet's blade, to let its flight carry his will to the skulls of those beyond his reach.

That's some of the best advice I've ever heard about parenting lol I love it
Scupper gives a quick nod to Mistweaver. You saved me life, lass. Thankye for that. Good luck on your travels and your nature and animals and all that lot. If you like, you could do us no harm gettin' a few gobos to chase you as you leave...you know...reduce their numbers a touch? Haha. Just a joke lass. I'm sure we'd die either way. Cheers.
He then moves slightly off trail so that he can attempt to stealth in tall grass as they near the caves.
25 Stealth Roll
I'm a little confused about the battle taking place simultaneously. Did that last goblin get away? I thought Dario or Vaz plugged it after I did. It was staggered right? Lost a turn or something? Anyway...I'm teaching and taking classes during the week so for me, posts will be around now 10am (Pacific) and later 8pm (Pacific). I'll try to hit a few times a day.
I agree, let’s get our rest take them in the just before dawn when they are sluggish and stupid.
Dekhan collects his javelins as he says this.
Varinth agrees and sets himself up somewhere he has a good view of the surrounds.
Stealth: 18
Perception: 7

Sorry the battle got a bit confusing at the end. The last goblin was indeed killed by Vaz.
Dekahn remains on his knees for a moment holding his sword.
I accept your charge, my lady.
he stands and sheaths his sword.
On my honor and by the Light, the Ancients, and all that I hold dear, I will see this quest through to the end, even if it means my life.
Dekhan’s eyes have begun to glow almost to a blazing pale green light.
This I swear and so am bound. Travel safe and go in Light, Steward.
Dekhan’s eyes return to normal. He maintains eye contact for a moment longer then turns to make ready for leaving camp
Asher leans down to Scupper, motioning to Dekhan. "See, I told you this guy was weird."
