Darwin tosses his Torch into the middle of the room, next to a table and chairs then bolts out after Horus. Making sure to keep Horus in eyeline before he grasps his shoulder, so as to not get lost in the fog.

Andolin nods to Cellica to leave. After she does, he will toss a torch to one side of the room, and another on the roof of the inn as he exits, grabbing on to her as they move into the fog.
You sprint at full speed, heading for the doors as the zombies rise from their chairs, murder in their undead eyes. The howls of the spectre follow you as you pass the door and toss your torches, dashing out into the fog. The fog swirls around you and you seem to be tripping and falling. The ground is soft and wet. Terror overcomes you and you half-crawl, half-run deeper into the fog.
You wake with a start. You find yourself lying on the grass next to a road, but not the same road that you were traveling on yesterday. A warm sun has just risen over the horizon, spreading its bright rays over the land, but it seems to be a curious sun as if multiple suns, slightly out of phase occupy the same space.
You realize that you are not wounded. But nothing that you had found in the tavern is on you. They are missing. The spells that you cast while in the tavern are gone from your memory.
Looking around, you realize that this is the exact spot where the Tavern of Daednu stood, but no trace of it, except for one, remains. Lying on the ground is the sign that hung outside of the tavern. As you look closer, you realize the sign no longer reads the Tavern of Nezhyti as it did last night, but rather, it now reads the Tavern of Undead.
A chill grips you as you and your companions stand by the road. What happened? Did any of this really happen? Was it real? Or was it just a horrible nightmare? You have a chilling feeling that you may never truly know, even as you see a figure on the other side of the road stir awake....
This module was The Tavern of Daednu modified for bit for you and 5e. I hope you enjoyed it and it was twisted enough to keep you interested. I have to say it was a bit of a challenge herding you along. :))
I think I over played the "orb" and the "fog" a bit, and the monsters didn't scale in difficulty as well as it would have in 1e.
Award yourselves 455 XP.
We are at a bit of a stop until our new healer joins us.
((Gotta say I was completely at a Loss of what to do for the last week, Nothing seemed to really have any impact where we were. It was fun but REALLY confusing.))
((WOO Lvl 2, Divine smite, Great weapon fighting and Some spells along with a larger pool of Lay on Hands. Darwin is happy! Cant wait to get my Oath benefits tho.))

Horus also has an herbalism kit for making healing potions and our ranger could potentially have Cure Wounds as well. We might be okay.
really looking forward to level 3 eventually. I’ve wanted to play a pact of the Chain warlock for awhile. As far as I can tell, it’s an amazing scout, and with all the social skill proficiencies, it has the potential to give advantage on most social encounter checks.
I know what you mean, Planning on Oath of the Ancients because it fits Darwin so well. Usually when I play Paladins I go either Vengeance, Crown or Oathbreaker so Im excited for the change in how I play the class. That and the Oath spells are pretty nice.

Huaa lvl 2 gets Ki points with Patient defense, Step of the wind and flurry of blows <3 Okay now the question remains, how do I add all that in my character sheet? <<Noob Alert>>
And I thoroughly enjoyed this part! it was mysterious and creepy. The fog thing did put me off but it's a learning process for me anyway. Also with the healer thing, my friend would like to join and make a Cleric if we still need one.

Cool, this was alot of fun. Agree with the others that the end was a bit confusing since we had a pretty clear "don't go in the fog" directive before. But burning down the tavern was pretty cool, and then the transition to the day after.
For the others, I was planning on going Archer, but it looks like we will have a good balance of melee and ranged. @Renegado_ do you plan to fight more with your bow or your rapier?
Well I have my fists and staff. Also Thanks @Pale_Crow, I added my Ki points as well. So now I can do more then just hit stuff over the head with my staff and punch people in the nose x'D Also my friend is making her Cleric character as we speak :D

If you read the module, the adventure basically ends when the party goes into the fog. But you guys surprised me by keeping up with the rooms, even with half the party. What I should have done was let him keep making a decently hard survival roll on finding his way back. And you guys were pretty suspicious in the beginning, I was hoping Andolin wouldn't ask if the fog was natural before you even entered the Tavern. Fog on a spring evening after a dry day...not natural. :) If anyone decides to run "Tavern" as a 5e, I'd be happy to help you in adapting it.
As for next, I was going to keep up with the 1e's. Unfortunately, 1e was light on low-level "Epics". There really were only with a tight connection. And they are basically dungeon-crawl meat-grinders based on Gen-Con tournament play. "Temple of Elemental Evil", I am just not prepped to run. While it is probably one of the most famous, the darn thing doesn't come with maps, you have to make your own. The "Leanador Isles" is only loosely linked, because, well, your on a large island. Which leaves the last one, which I think I will get you in and out of through the course. But, even though it is for low-level characters, 6 characters is a small party for it at low levels. And I can't imagine trying to keep up with 10-12 people in a forum. It really was designed for tournament play. And because it was designed for tournament play, it doesn't segue between parts, "You find yourself standing on a narrow ledge in front of a cave," kind of thing.
I looked back at some of the things I ran in middle and high school, and came to realize that our group was basically guilty of the same type of meat-grinder dungeon crawl with bad, juvenile-ly written versions of Sauron and Suraman as the villains. [But as I look back on AD&D from Gygax, and knowing his/its path of creation, I can see how we ended up there].
All this is a long way of saying, there is the future is a multi-layer tour of "classic" AD&D modules. And maybe some homemade side adventures.
I think we have a couple of days before Aloy's friend can join us (the figure getting up from the other side of the road), but I am happy to set the stage as much as we can without interacting with him/her.
That was fun, and a very unexpected ending. I was certain that going into the fog would mean death, and only risked it because the alternative was death. As for what is next, I trust you oh illustrious and terrifying DM!
@GoodShepherd I plan to mix it up at low levels, depending on the fight. I do more damage in melee, but for fights where it's too risky to get close I will be using my bow. Long term, I will transition to mostly melee (I think), maybe opening with a ranged attack from stealth as I will be going the Assassin path.
.How were we doing HP? Using the static per level amount (so 5 on a d8)? Also, is there a spot to record XP? I'm not that familiar with dndbeyond (or 5e to be fair) and keeping a mental note seems to be the surest way to forget.
And now that we are level 2, it's time for Move-Dash-Dash ALL NIGHT LONG! :P
Go into editing your character, and go back to the very first page. Turn leveling from milestones to xp based. Then go to the class page. At the top is a thing for adding exp. you may need to physically adjust your level, still. Or you can use the long rest and it should recuperate all the appropriate stuff and add hp etc.
I’ve just gone with the standard hp increase, but I don’t remember anything about rolling for hp or not. I think there’s a button for that in the same place as the milestone leveling thing
You also have Hex and Charm person tho right? Hex could be very usefull :D
(Yes! And now Command as well. I only had one spell slot, so I was saving it in case there was something obvious to use it for. Now with two, and maybe a chance for rests in future adventures, I might be more free with them.
More exciting is the invocations!)
(Speaking of which, ahem)
The following morning, the party may notice something different about Horus. His skin is clearer, his jawline more pronounced, and - even on just waking up- his hair looks naturally well groomed and appealing.
Nothing is overtly different, but there’s just something about him that wasn’t there last night.
(OoC- Beguiling Influence ought to have a visible difference, I say lol)

Huzzah! Yeah, I’m in a game where the dm has us play a 3.5 module. It’s harder to transfer editions than it seems.
This was pretty crazy, but overall fun!
And with a bit of care, we should be okay for healing, depending on the sort of adventure you want to do?
