OOC: Tauriel. Thank you for helping out. I should have mentioned that. Forgot for a sec that were learning here. You've all been such good players so far I forgot myself.
Officially DC checks means "Difficulty Class" for me I think of it as "Dice Check" and it means a die roll pertaining to a certain skill or ability. DC checks are 20 sided dice rolls. Like most thing in this game the higher the better. Me asking for a perception check means rolling a d20 + whatever modifier you may have for "perception" on you character sheets. For Instance, Tauriel has a +1 perception and rolled a 7, hence the DC check of 8.
For most purposes of this forum game we will use the dice roller (the last icon on the right of the reply box) on basic setting. For a perception check you will look on your character sheet for your + or - in perception skill and put that in the "add to result" box. Leave it at D20 and hit OK.
In your chat box it will look something like [roll ]d20+1[/ roll] without the spaces. When you post it will roll and you will only se the results after you post. This is a failsafe to prevent tampering. If you edit a post after a roll the post will show a header saying "this roll may have been tapered with" or something like that
OOC: When running a new campaign, do you usually have the players introduce their characters? In the couple of rounds that I have played we have typically introduced characters ahead of time so some of the decisions and character quirks make a bit more sense. I was looking at the other character sheets but it looks like yo ucan't see other players background and notes unless I am missing it.
What everyone who passed perception checks hears is "you still have that helmet? That will do"
Fyr stands and says "I trust that whatever course you all and Blobbin decide on will work to all our advantage. Please excuse me." He bows to you all, ending his bow with a raised eyebrow at Tauriel and makes his way to one of the outbuildings.

OOC: We kind of hit the ground the running on this one. It has already been decided that any campaign action will wait until morning and we will have time to get to know each other better while sitting around the fire. It is assumed by all that each of you has come here for training so there is a common ground. You are correct though with the background. Only the dm can see that info. It's up to the player how much they want to reveal in game.
ooc: I realize I'm throwing you into the fire so to say, but this is how the campaign has developed. Nobody knows anyone except for Blobbin, Sledge and Fyr. You have all come here on common purpose, to get training. I like to leave it up to the players how much they want to divulge about themselves or not. Kind of like in real life where you were invited to a costume party. You show up to a bonfire and don't know anyone but at least were all in costume. Does that make sense?
Oslamir continues to focus on his lute, not wanting to eavesdrop on their host. "I vote for taking a wagon and following the path taken by the shipments that have previously gone missing. If we can find out who is responsible for taking the shipments perhaps they will also know something about the cause of the collapses."
ooc: sorry, you all passed the checks (Except Sinjin). Blobbins stage whisper is very poor after a few glasses of elven wine. I wanted to get a DC in to see where we all were.
Blobbin nods to Tyr as he walk off and says "Such is the ways of the elves. Pretending to leave it on OUR hands... hehehe.." Preparing to take another sip of wine "Oh... I almost forgot. My maps! That will surely help decide what road to take..." He gets off his stool and starts meandering over to the house saying "Come, come, lets find the best way to get you from here to there"
Rhogar looks at Oslamir and nods. “ I agree with oslamir, we should take the caravan trail but we should feign a broken wagon as a decoy to lure in the criminals.”
Sinjin gets up from his seat on the ground, using his quarterstaff to help him along. The gnome proceeds to follow the direction he heard Blobbin going in. He kept the staff poked out a bit in front of him as a safeguard to not hit anything. "This seems to be quite the place you have Mr. Blobbin..From what i can tell at least."
Tauriel snatches a full bottle of wine and carries (and drinks) it over to where Blobbin is hobbling over to.
ooc- I mean...my character simply came here to train. Not too deep of a backstory but I don't mind getting to know you all as we go. If you want a reference to what she looks like, just take a peek at my avatar which I changed for the campaign. It'd be kind of awkward at this point if I started describing myself in character :P
Occ- I will describe Rhogar really quick. He’s a young dragonborn. He’s tall with black scales and acid breath. He wants to become the mightiest paladin. Rhogar wears chain mail with a hefty shield and he carries a lance.
Ooc- Sinjin is a gnome (not a gnoblin) that stands around 3'9. He has grey messy hair and a mid chest length beard. He wears a set of Noble wizard robes which are a royal blue and steel color. Sinjin also has the stereotypical wizard hat. He also has a tool belt where he keeps his coin purse and spell book. And also his seeing orb.
Sinjin had a hunch so he listened around the campfire. 3
Rhogar leans in to hear what blobbin says 4
occ- thanks sakami!! Oh I did my roll +1 for my perception bonus so it end up 17
