Each of the two beasts - Chubs now sees, up close - stands well over six feet tall. They have the bodies of burly, swarthy men, but their heads are those of enormous wolves. They are quite fearsome, and even though Chubs slashes the near one twice with his sword, missing only once, it's obvious from the monster's response that he did no damage at all. The monsters respond by each slashing and biting in response, but Chubs manages to dodge all four attacks.
Discarding his useless sword, Chubs will throw his sumo-massiveness at the monster to his right, grappling it! Strength check (inspired) 9. If he is successful, he will heave the creature toward Kif's mighty ax. But be not fooled by his girth or attempt at a sweaty embrace with the hairy man-beast, by channeling his inner joy, love of wrestling with friends (though he was never very good at it), and protectiveness over his new found companions, he will remain ready to dodge the monster's slashes and bites.
His Patient Defense dodge action means attacks are made against him at disadvantage.
Edit: I think I get bless on my grapple check because it's a type of attack, totalling 13
Nevermind, I'm processing everyone else, but still waiting for him for his turn.
The grapple is successful; I'm letting you drag him this time; Kif hits with the axe and slashes the wolf monster with it. Barnaby also hits it with a firebolt.
Having one the day, Chubs will attack with words rather than fists - That'll teach you to follow us menacingly! And will recover his sword from where he dropped it.
Addressing the party, Wow, you guys kicked ass! Luento, was that golden hammer yours?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Barnaby likes to think that with his 120’ of range he can lob a trio of magic missiles at the wounded creature before it can cover that much distance. If he can it the three wearing beams of light tax the creature down and hit for 4 + 1 + 2 +3 points of force damage.
Well, yes, but those were no ordinary wolves young man. You may not have noticed, but they walked on two legs. Barnaby gives Chubs a knowledgeable look.
Incidentally Chubs, you mentioned earlier that you come from Waterdeep, Barnaby begins walking down the road again. Have you lived there long? In what neighborhood? I’ve lived there for the last three hundred some odd years, but your face doesn’t look familiar to me. Its funny that we meet here.
Chubs, walking with him, I grew in the Broken Glass District, of course, back then it was just the Walnut District. But times change. The brewery had to close and most of the monks left for the vineyard in The Crumbling Hills . All their joy couldn't keep the slum rot away. He sighs. I stayed. I bartend at The Dirty Stool and run a small community meditation center. Maybe you've heard of it, The Cheerful Path? The kids love it. He perks back up, thinking of the kids and the good times they have.
Have you been much to The Broken Glass District? Truth is, people from other parts of town tend to steer clear nowadays. What's your story? Where did you learn to throw fire like that. You sure must know a lot about Waterdeep.

Everybody note the Bless.

Everybody's up!
Kif sprints forward but can't quite get there (moved on roll20) He is going to ready an attack should one of the beasties move within range
22 plus 2 to hit 7 damage

Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear.
Barnaby will launch a fire bolt at the one that Chub attempts to grapple. 16
on the off chance that the grapple was successful, then with advantage: 7
Either way with bless: 1 for: 5 damage.
Chubs's grapple attempt was, with the help of Bless (and for better or for worse), successful. We now wait for Lucento.
I believe that means Kif gets his readied attack.
Yes, that will all likely follow, but I am still waiting to hear from Lucento.
Nevermind, I'm processing everyone else, but still waiting for him for his turn.

In characteristic fashion, Lucento calls forth a golden mace within range of the nearest beast.
Spritual Weapon: 17 (to hit) 11 (dmg)
Holy smokes! Your golden magic hammer gives a good whack in the head, hurting it some more!
OK. I’ve checked the rules and I think dragging a grappled opponent is part of a move action. So it was kosher.
Chubs, make a Strength (or Athletics) check.
Athletics 11, Chubs is happy to let go of the creature after Kif's strike.
In that case, the creature struggles and you let it go. It runs with its companion deeper into the woods.
Kif and Chubs, you may take opportunity attacks against it, if you wish.
I believe I will take this opportunity to attack
21 should that connect 11

And with one final blow, the wounded creature runs into the woods with its companion.

Edit: #%€@$ and &$%%%#^*, that ;&$!?@!!!!
So, how likely do yous guys think it is they'll come back with friends? Aren't wolfs pack animals?
