"Yeah baby! Let us stay focused. The lizardfolk, someone or something is murdering the lizardfolk. Wait, have all the murders been lizard people?"
Altani nods at Kestrell, "I believe that is right Kestrell, they are the only people that have been targeted. So the real question is who does not like the lizard people around Ambersilt? Not just the town, but around this area? And Leetha, you mentioned that most adventurers come to Ambersilt because of the nearby ruins? What is to be found at the ruins for it to attract adventurers?"

'Thinking back to his own explorations, teachings, discussions with visiting travellers and readings within the keep's small library, Alwin recalls the following (Alwin ONLY may read the spoiler):
'You heard rumours of an ancient civilisation that once supposedly encompassed the entire Northvast. You never encountered detailed accounts on that civilisation, though in your inquiries you did discern that the ruins are often hidden, always sealed, and inevitably guarded by magical creatures and traps, deadly to the unwary. Very few survive entry to tell of what they find.
You also know that the Elvish Kingdom of Leyinthalar was once much larger than it is today and that old Elvish ruins almost certainly exist beyond the Kingdom's current borders. While you do not know specifics of those ruins in this area, your studies left you certain that old Elvish homes, towers and burial chambers likely lie along the Heartstar border and within the lands claimed by the Jade Empire.'

Alwin finally speaks up after listening to Atlani pose her question, his voice holding the same confidence as when he holds a sword"It's possible that they want the grandeur of finding new ruins never before explored. Think about all the gold or treasure that would be in an unexplored ruin like the one close to here. Though most ruins are hidden or sealed off...it is possible..." he freezes for a second in thought "it's a crazy idea but it could be that the ruin was unsealed by an adventurer who didn't know the history and a magical beast escaped...if it is was loyal to the civilization that formed the ruin and that civilization was at war with lizardfolk it would naturally hunt them."
He just took a sip of his drink and shook his head "That's a bit crazy though because that would mean the creature was very old or somehow passed it's desired prey onto it's offspring."
Altani nodes a goodbye to Leetha, saying"We appreciate your assistance"as the lizardwoman walks from the inn.
The centaur folds her arms across her chest and looks back at the rest of the group that fortune had placed her with."You could be right Alwin, and even if nothing has been released from the ruins they could make a good place for the orcs or even the snake people to be using as a base to raid from. To me it seems that this area has a lot of troubles, all of which have just recently started to cause problems. I also think that without our aid Saltmarsh could be in dire peril.
So what do we all wish to do? See Thurk and the child and ask Thurk if he will help us tonight? We could also visit the ruins as well so we can see for ourselves if anything is amiss or taken up residence in them"
"Not saying the plan doesn't make sense, but what if the attacker takes the opportunity to kill the group of undefended lizardfolk instead of the well protected blacksmith? It worries on the mind." Wazzock's smile is smaller than usual, and her blue eyes are distant. "In any case, it's as the others say, we should speak with Thurk and the boy to see what other information can be gleaned before finalizing a plan."
Mazin frowns at the obvious discomfort that Sergeant Leetha is feeling from the line of questioning. As she leaves, he will say to her. "Thank you for indulging all our questions. And I apologize once more for bringing the news of one of your kin dying to you so abruptly. Be safe in your patrols, Sergeant."
Mazin listens to the others. Counting off on his fingers, he says "So, we need to talk to Thurk and the Jona. Then investigate some ruins. Then set a trap for the murderer, ensuring the rest of the lizard folk are safe first. Okay. Let do this!" Mazin gets up, grabs his carvings from the table and begins to head outside. He gives a smile and a nod to Brenna, as he leaves, as well as nodding to the Fangstalker.
Outside, he finds Thurk. "Good Morning Thurk. I made these for you last night, to honor the spirits of the Crocodiles that your people hold sacred. I tried to capture the essence of the animals, as well as the feelings of your words when you spoke of Semuanya." He will present the two carvings to Thurk.
"That's right Mazin. There are also the Orcs to take care of. It sounds like the Watch may need some assistance keeping an eye out for Orc raiders. And what are these snake things they mentioned?"

"Farewell out there and, more importantly, fight we'll! And maybe me will see ye all again. Ha!"
'Leaving the Marsh Oak inn, you see Thurk standing patiently nearby, watching the large form of a fierce looking bearded centaur moving crates and boxes off a wagon into the billowing rainbow coloured circus that takes up the centre of the town square. Turning with a nod to Mazin, the thick chested Smith is clearly surprised by the gifts, even appearing a little embarrassed.
