Lilith digs through pockets and bags on the belt buckles of the goblins. She finds 10 copper pieces on each of the goblin underlings along with a small wheel of cheese. She searches over the goblin boss and finds 2lb of cooking spices, 20 copper pieces and a small pouch containing teeth of all shapes and sizes including one made out of gold. The ground around the dead horses is fairly dry and where the road meets the grass she can see that it looks like the ground has been raked or something has been dragged over it towards the embankment to the north.
(OOC - To keep loot splitting easier, 6cp each and Lilith can keep the extra 4. As for other valuables, players can discuss with each other if you feel that you want something that’s been picked up)
As the unconscious goblin begins to come around he hears Zack talking about employers. He looks angry but there is a look of shame that he’s in this position but also some willingness to cooperate if it saves his life. He talks in a screeching, high pitched voice that whines and sounds like he has something stuck in his throat. “Killed? We haven’t killed anyone in days. Derutrot tub ton dellik. We was told that there would be a wagon comin’ this way from some dwarf yesterday that the boss seemed pretty interested in” Those close enough can smell the vile stench of his meaty breath and bad dental care. The combination is a bit overwhelming for a second or two.
Lilith will split the coins amongst the group."I searched the bodies but there doesn't seem to be much aside from a couple of copper coins. Though, there are marks that look like they dragged Gundren and Sildar over to the embankment." Lilith walks up to the tied up Goblin. "Who is your boss and who told you about the wagon?"
The goblin replies to Lilith “My boss? My boss is that one over there” He uses his head to point towards the dead goblin boss on the ground. “I told you, the dwarf said there’d be a wagon. Only took three teeth an’ two fingers”
Zack sighed when he heard that... You've been taking the teeth and fingers of the people you've been torturing? he asked, a little aggravated, but maintaining his cool. So how many more uh.. Goblins, or bosses are there ? or can you guess? He asked, pressing on. Is there anything we need to look out for on the way.... Have you all been hoarding the stuff you stole? Zack was wracking his brain, trying to think of any other questions that might be pertinent.... Uh.. how long have you been doing this ambush thing? Is there any secrets you can tell us ... like where are you guys dragging people off to? Why was this cart so important? And how many people have you killed up till now? Be honest .. little guy.. and I'll tell you a secret, to greater treasure and value than you could ever find here, doing what you've been doing.
Zack squatted down easily, legs parted, resting himself on his knees for comfort, as he awaited the Goblins response.
After the Goblin replied, and Zack kept an eye out for lies (Insight: 2) if the Goblin answered most of his questions, he would add in, keeping his promise: Down that way is a place called Neverwinter. I want you to go there. There will be a big coliseum... uh.. it'll look like a giant, circle-wall with a lot of doors and pillars. There will be some people dressed up oddly compared to the townsfolk, and I want you to ask for Job with them.. They've hired other Goblins, so you should be fine. You'll be given money in return for your work. But this is a repentance as much as it is an opportunity. You'll help bring smiles to peoples faces, to make up for the lives you took here, and you'll be more comfortable there than you ever were.. here. 'Kay? Then, using his hand to undo the knot, freeing the Goblin, and telling him to get on his way, before the others change their minds. Then, reclaiming his 50' rope, puttign it back in his bag, and relaying whatever info he got to anyone who might not have heard.
If the Goblin lies, as far as Zack can tell, or, only answers one or two questions, He'll leave the Goblin tied up there, to his fate.
“Only the ones with information we wanted! And the ones with nice teeth...” He smiles and looks over at Gribz “You’ve got nice ones. Polished and clean…” He trails off while running his tongue over his own teeth before remembering that Zack had asked him some other questions. “We’ve been on this road for a few months. Don’t attack the fancy folk, just the traders. That’s what they said. Take them up the river to the noisy cave and leave them in the eating hall. Take all their goods and burn their carts. But the dwarf was fancy and you look fancy. Don’t know why the boss wanted you”
He stops and takes a breath, unsure of your intentions he begins to count on his hands “Eight, there are eight goblins in the noisy cave and Big Klarg, the hairy one. He gives the orders to the bosses and they give the orders to us.”
"Eight? Are you sure there's actually eight?" Lilith will take her blood stained mace and slam it on the ground, eyes narrowing as she questions the goblin.
Lilith very obviously does not trust the Goblin and sighs. She turns to the group. "Eight or eighteen, it doesn't matter. We have to be on our guard if we're to look for Gundren and Sildar. I hope they're still alive..."
As the Goblin likely walks away, Zack sighs again, all things considered. Placing his right hand behind his head as he rubs through his hair. Whoo-ee.. Eights bad enough, but possibly eighteen? Oi, we'll have to proceed cautiously. Since we don't know exactly where they are, just that they'e that way... I think... he says, half-heartedly motioning to where Lillith saw the drag marks earlier. So we should probably get this show on the road, as much as I'd like to allow our Mage to recup himself.. if Gundren or Sildar are holed up in that cave in the 'Eating Room' we don't really have the luxury of stalling... Oi.. Any of you used to trudging through a forest? Or up a hill? or generally this.. My group wasn't exactly a scout-scouting.. we were a platoon so we never really had to use cover.... this kinda travel isn't my forte. So perhaps someone with good eyes and ears... in fact, Lillith.. since you spotted the tracks, maybe you can lead us up? I'll be right behind ya, or whoever decides to take point.
Zack clearly didn't like not taking point, it was written on his features clearly, however he doesn't see a better option, and (And it's best to put people who have the skills where they need to be. Well oiled machine, and all that jazz.) But we should probably start moving while there's still daylight, I'm not as good as some of you at fighting at night.. Us humans weren't blessed with darkvision... and daylights burning. And our employers may be gettign tortured.. right now...
Gribz stands with his hands on his hips, quietly watching this unfold. Looking at the other Goblin talking to Zack, Gribz is filled with a strange mix of emotions. The scraps of leather and animal bone that make up its armor, the greasy and tangled hair, the thin and scarred form of its body... (No wonder civilized folk fear us... Us...? Ugh...You can't help the way you were raised, just like they can't... That could be you, lying in the dirt with an arrow in your mouth...) Gribz sighs and watches the Goblin leave before joining Lilith and Zack. "I agree with you both." The thought of abandoning Gundren and Sildar to whatever fate "the eating hall" had in store for them, non-existent. "I don't know about either of you, but that..." and he points to the dead Goblin near the embankment "...was the first life I've taken. I'm not saying they didn't have it coming, but I'm not saying I liked it either. If we can save a life or two today I'll feel better about this whole mess... Let's try and find this cave, but like Lilith said, let's be on guard."
Nadia stows away her bow at the time of interrogation, letting Zack and Lilith do the talking and information gathering. The elf had listened intently to what the goblin was saying, but didn’t bother trying to see if his words rang true or not, leaving it to the professionals. However, when Zack talks about tranversing the forest, she pipes up. “I’m more useful in grasslands, but I’ve hunted in forests before, maybe I can help Lilith with the tracking?”
She then gives a worried look over to Gribz. “I feel like you’re going to have to get used to taking a few more lives on this journey... You’ll get used to it, in due time.”

With a frown, Gribz considers Nadia's words "You'll get used to it, in due time." he looks to the Goblin that the group allowed to leave, silohuetted in the sunlight as it walks away, and for a second he sees himself there.
