Vaken stands and leans up against the pillar, head in his hands trying to clear his mind. His knees still feel weak from all the fear. As the goliath stands there he hears Orlys's comment about Kay being brave and tries to think of a joke to break the tension. Something about a height requirement, but the words just won't come to him. Instead he starts reciting words of power as he steps over to Kay and lays a hand on her shoulder healing her."The bugbear is right, little one. You seem to be of stronger mind than he and I put together. Thank you for never giving up."
Cure Wounds on Kay: 5
'Kay beams at Vaken, feeling much better.' "Mayhap, but don't worry, the both o'you will always be stronger of arm. My thanks, friend."
'She shrugs,' "Well, we're not taking this one back with us," 'and plunges her shortswords into the enormous spiderfey's abdomen, trying to get leverage to pry it open to get at the venom sac inside.'
The big but disheveled bugbear, fur matted and wet, eyes dull from exhaustion, stares a little dumbly at the battle axe, then shrugs and lowers it to his side. He will look up the slope at Virt, then look around for the book (or anything else of interest).
Perception (at Disadvantage because Exhaustion): 3
'Covered in a thick layer of fast cooling spiderfey blood, Orlys is forced to wipe some off the goop from his eyes. As the drained and battle weary bugbear looks around, he can make out nothing else of note from where he stands. To his tired eyes, the confusingly lit cavern is a blurred mass of ice, stone, crystal, webbing and tangled dead arachnid limbs.'

'Using his blade, Kestrell skillfully employs his knowledge of animal anatomy to remove both of the spiderfey's foot long fangs, shaking the still oozing venom from one as he does so. Standing next to Kay as she holds the creature's venom sack aloft, his alert gaze also notices a small but steady trickle of luminous blue fluid running from a small cut in the grotesque spider organ.
Running his observant eye over the room, Kestrell notes the fractured rubble-like appearance of the huge rocky 'pillar, as though long ago a massive but localized collapse frõm above had sent tons of earth and stone crashing below. Whether or not something helped craft the now almost cylindrical shape of rock, the bard can't tell, but the hanging webbing and hundreds of scratches and grooves in the pillar indicate that the lairing spiderfey has likely ascended and descended this feature many times. Staring up the rough icy web covered surface, twenty five feet and more, the eagle eyed navigator estimates that there might be as much as a dozen square feet of relatively flat area atop the pillar itself.
Walking a circuit of the pillar's base during his investigations, Kestrell also notices a third mass of silvery webbing to the Northeast, looking by it's placement to block access to another tunnel or chamber beyond. At the pillars Eastmost point the bards practiced hearing detects a repeating *rattlerattlerattle* sound coming from yet more webbing in that corner, like something of metal or wood is being shaken within.
Having done a complete circuit of the large chamber, Kestrell has noticed three of the purple glowing crystalline tree like structures, all between four-six feet in height, and all appearing to run deeper into the cavern stone below.'

'Noting the leak from the sack Kay is holding:'"Kay, there's a cut in that venom sack and it's leaking fluid. Maybe we should bandage it somehow?"
'Craning his neck, looking high up the pillar, he says loudly so the rest of the group can hear him:' "It looks like there might be some sort of shelf or flat spot on top of this thing. A'ro, let's get that levitation thing going again, do you think you can float up that high and check it out?"
'Looking to the northeast, at the silvery webbing:' "All, it looks like another tunnel through this webbing. And what's that? Listen! Yes, there is something over there that is rattling. Maybe metal or wood?"
"And what are these?" 'Kestrell mutters to himself, looking at the purple glowing structures.' 'Kestrell reaches out his rapier and gently taps the purple structure to the south of the rock pile. He's listening to see if it is actually crystal, or perhaps some other material, and to see if it makes any sort of reaction at the soft touch of his sword.'
'While doing this Kestrell is keeping an eye to the northeast to make sure whatever is making that noise doesn't break free and attack them.'

If those things are like normal spiders, then we are sitting in a giant sensory pit for them with all this webbing around. We need to keep moving – if we rest it should be in a place without this webbing around.”
