Kay stares at Ferris for a moment, surprise and embarrassment both plain on her face. She hastens over to the knot and carefully loosens it until it slips easily as instructed, then let's out an exasperated breath as she realizes that she's fallen behind the twins. She nods at Ferris quickly, and then furrows her brow with concentration as she gives chase to the halflings, doing her best to catch their rhythm. She murmurs to herself as she works to help her cement each step of the process in her memory.
The unpredictable and powerful gusts of wind makes Kay's work both exhilirating and dangerous, especially trying as the sail monkey is to keep up with the two nimble halflings. Noticing Kay's approach behind and below them, Fillian laughs out loud and winking at his nearby sister shouts, "You're a keen shot with a crossbow, Kay, but now you're in OUR domain! Try and match THIS!"
With that, the mischevious halfling runs the length of a long spar 50' off the deck and recklessly throws himself outwards towards a Jacobs ladder hanging from the foremast ten feet away. Just as Fillian launches himself however, a strong gust of wind blasts through the rigging and sails, throwing the rigging rat's trajectory off. Seeing the potentially fatal accident transpire before her very eyes, Freya gives a cry of dispair and throws herself outwards and into the falling form of her brother, sending the tangled halfling siblings tumbling out of control into the lower section of the Jacobs ladder, before both sailors fall half-tumbling, half-toppling to the forecastle below.
The groans of pain from the prone and crumpled halflings indicates both their survival and their injured states. The First Mate and Bosun, who both stepped back as the two sailors came crashing down from above, look on with less than amused stares.
[OOG] Well that was close, lol. Almost had our 2nd NPC crew death just like that. :o

Kay let's out a surprised shout as Freya and Fillian leap out in front of her and tumble to the deck below. She holds on to the rigging tightly as she watches them slam into the deck. She stares down at their figures with bated breath for what seems like a long time until she finally hears them groaning. She leans into the rigging heavily and lets out a long sigh of relief. "Y'both'll be the death 'f me!" she shouts down at them, "if'n y'don't kill yerselves first!" clambering down the rigging as quickly as she can without risking her own safety.
Once on deck she runs over to the pair and takes a cursory look at them before running off to find the ship's doctor.
The sounds of the crew working and getting the ship ready to sail is what finally got Dekket awake. It took a few seconds for him to remember that he wasn't in his old ship, but on that new one, the sailors he met and helped last night brought him.
"And here you are you lazy horned fool " he thought ot himself " hoping to be one more of the crew and oversleeping in your very first day on board... "
He jumped down the hammok he was on and grabbed his things going to the main deck looking for his aquitances and hoping that they vouch for him to the captain.
A'ro just nods at the old sailor "I can understand that - thought if you change your mind please know, as long as its done respectfully, I will always take any critiques. I can't be good at what I do if I'm not getting both good and bad feedback."
A'ro just turns to look at the rest of the ship as he tries to figure out what to do next - this was weird for him being on this side of things. Usually he was the one receiving orders and getting yelled at to work. He just begins to head towards the officers area figuring that might be a good start.

Ferris had been watching the horizon when the raised voices took his attention. He sucked in his breath as he witnessed the halfling fall and willed the little one to catch onto the rigging. It seemed to have worked at least a little but as the halfling landed the older barrelman was already over the lip of the crow's nest and was speeding his way down the netting.
The man seemed to have very little trouble descending the ropes hitting the deck near Fillian. Moving to the prone man's form he assessed the wounds (Medicine: 14) and called out, "Stand away, give him room. Someone fetch me a kit!"

"Let's get these two lads down to the infirmary. They are going to need a moment to recover. Everyone else, back to work, we have a full morning to get behind us before we ship out. As you were." Virt speaks the commands to all those around, trying to be helpful and leading the way. As an officer should. Hopefully, he wasn't stepping on anyone's toes.

Vaken chuckles at the First Mate's comment, bows while saying, "Thank you both." And then turns and bobs his head toward Kestrell, "Morning Mr. Navigator, sir." And then turns to walk back to the galley.
Upon walking into the galley Vaken tells Nibs, "I just spoke with the First Mate and Bosun. They agree that you being my helper in here is a good idea, ifin you don't have other duties to attend."
Walking back into the galley, Vakens sees that Nibs has finished scrubbing the pans and other kitchen utensils. Bits of grime can still be seen on some of the 'cleaned' dishes. The rotund half-orc appears to have some sort of kit containing needles and small vials of ink laid out on the galley table. At Vaken's arrival, the sailor quickly tries to roll the kit up, looking somewhat guilty as he does so. When he comprehends the cooks words, however, he looks somewhat relieved and nods his appreciation, saying, "You won't regret it, Mr. Vaken. I'ma help you LOTS in here!"
It's at that point that Vaken hears the shouts from above and leaves to see what's occuring on deck.

Getting up from his hammock, Dekket is greeted in a friendly fashion by a well-weathered sailor who introduces himself as Lionel. Heading towards the stair, the tiefling passes an unshaven sailor with dreadlocks, a heavily muscled orc with a blacksun tattooed on his bald head and a handsome, dusky skinned half-elf bundled up in a long cloak who gives the prospective crew member a cold smile. Bypassing this group, Dekket emerges onto the exterior maindeck to witness the familiar activity and buzz of a ship's crew preparing to raise anchor. Looking about for familiar faces, Dekket spots Kestrell entering a room to the aft of the maindeck... though moments later when shouts go up due to a couple of sailors falling from the rigging, Kestrell and the other crew members he'd met last night in the Crate all come running to address the accident.

In response to A'ro's calm acceptance of his reluctance and just prior to all the commotion caused by Fillian and Freya's fall, Ol' Jart squints at the genasi officer for a moment, looks around nerviously for a few seconds, before saying quietly and still somewhat hesitantly,
"Look... umm, sir, a privateer ship's crew ain't like no navy crew or city watch squad. What I mean to say is we're a mixed bunch 'board the Shark, with often VERY different views, pasts and desires. It's readily apparent to the insightful A'ro that Ol' Jart isn't used to speaking directly to officers a lot, despite the man's obvious age and experience at sea. As the veteran sail monkey looks around nervously, nods his head and then heads topside (quite agilely for a man his age, A'ro notes), the Master of Sail can't be certain if that alone is the cause of the old sailor's hesitancy.
