Tyrus hisses for silence and then almost completely closes his hooded lantern so that there is a bare minimum of light to give away their presence.
Then, realising he is the only one with darkvision (as far as he knows) he begins to whisper and tells them all what he saw before the lights went down.
"There be something up ahead," he whispers. "Something alive, just floating in the air... Weirdest thing I ever did see."
He gives a little shudder before he continues with the description. "It's got one big eye and four short arms, which, crazy as it sounds, looks like they have eyes on the end of them.
"What do we do?" he asks. "I don't think it knows we're here yet, but with all those eyes, I can't be sure."
He then turns to Arlon and asks, "Do ye think a Sleep spell might work?"
[OOC: Unlike Griff, Tyrus will simply use his candle to leave anonymous arrows simply indicating the direction the party took. I'm hoping that they will be hard to see unless you know to look for them and more likely to stay around in the wet conditions because the marks are made of wax.]
Arlon casts his spell, and a few moments later, you don't hear anything hit the ground... but there is the sound of something that sounds like very vile snoring coming from where the creature was before the light went out.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Well done, Arlon," says Tyrus, "I think ye got it. Shall we go look at this horrid beastie while it's snoring?"
Tyrus will then open up the hooded lantern so that they can all see as they approach the creature. However, before he himself moves, he will put his crossbow down somewhere dry and take his handaxe out of his belt. [OOC: As Tyrus's crossbow is not a hand crossbow, I've just realised now it can't be already loaded and ready to fire because it is a two-handed weapon and he doesn't have enough hands to carry it and the lantern.]
Wary of the unknown, Tyrus will try to keep Griffdar and Briga between him and the creature as they get closer. He will also try to remember if he's heard of anything like this creature before in his sixty-plus years of life. [Intelligence/Wisdom roll (bonus is the same): 6 ]
"Are ye keeping track of the time, Arlon?" he asks, his grip tightening on the haft of his axe. "Ye spell don't last forever."
[OOC: Simmyish has informed me by PM that I was able to buy two more whistles, so we all have one now. However, only Arlon's and Briga's have been customised.]
IC: Having a closer look, you see the creature still floating, but sound asleep. It's a surreal experience. When Tyrus gets a closer look at the creature, they aren't common but have been seen more regularly with members of the Xanathar Guild recently. This creature is what is known as a Gazer - their exact origin is unknown to Tyrus, but he knows it has something to do with the Xanathar Guild - exactly what he isn't sure.
[OOC: Tyrus isn't from Waterdeep, so he wouldn't know about the Xanathar connection. Maybe one of the locals in the group do. However, he might know about the connection between gazers and beholders? I can make another roll, if you want.]
[OOC: No worries. Connection not made, but I think it better that a local knows about the gazer's connections with Xanathar. Tyrus has only just arrived in Waterdeep from Baldur's Gate, and before that from parts further south.]
"Yes I m keeping track and we should really get going. Let's not touch the beast since we don't know if someone would notice it dying." Arlon says with a bit of urgency.
"I be thinking we should kill this thing," says Tyrus hefting his axe. "It's not natural. It's like something a warlock or an evil wizard might summon up from one of the nine hells."

" Don't know for sure but who else would post a sentry so close to the kidnapping and the warehouse ?"
