"Tyrus, remember your whole thing about talking to the city watch? Yeah, you're a genius," Briga says. "Sincerely. We need backup on this and Griff needs a healer or a potion or something. Come on, let's go, you too, Arlon."
"Agreed," says Tyrus, helping Briga with the unconscious body of Griffdar. "What if those archers are some of them sneaky elves. I've heard they're immune to the Sleep spell." [OOC: Says Tyrus jumping to conclusions because he hasn't actually seen the Kenku, but did hear that Arlon was planning to cast the Sleep spell. Also, technically our characters wouldn't actually know the result of the spell either, seeing as no one is looking and the effect is a relatively subtle one.]

(Briga: You are all currently out of line of sight of the Kenku.
Arlon: I'll allow it)
IC: To give yourselves a moment to assess the situation, you retreat some ways down Candle Lane into another side alley - putting Griffdar down to catch a moment. At this point, Todd - the city watchman you met earlier.
"Well looks like you got caught off guard," he says. "What happened?"
Tyrus concentrates on Griffdar's wounds—and the arrows sticking out of Briga, if she will let him—and lets Briga and/or Arlon do the talking seeing as he never actually made it into the warehouse and didn't see who attacked them. Unfortunately, his medical help would mostly consist of using the set of common clothes he had in his backpack (which he hopefully still has) as makeshift bandages as he doesn't have proficiency in Medicine or any appropriate kits.
[OOC: Arlon might be the best to do the talking seeing he has a Bardic Inspiration die for whatever is left of the ten minutes since it was put on him.]

"Like we said we investigated and when we entered four kenkus fired arrows at us. I retaliated, just putting one to sleep. We did use any lethal force yet but there is definitely something strange going on in there."
"I think the watch should get involved. We can't have them killing innocent civilians"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Unfortunately, the watch in the ward are all occupied with the gang war between the Zhentarim and Xanathar. We've asked for reinforcements from the Castle Ward, but the nobles have been hiring private security, offering better pay than the watch provide - so we're a bit short staffed as a result," Todd admitted sadly. "We're expecting ten more guards in five days, but we won't be getting any more - I'm the only watchman not occupied, so I can come with you," Todd said.
"I don't have any more of us with me, however - so some Kenku attacked you in a warehouse on Candle Lane. Four of them you say? Usually their useless bird creatures, the fact that they managed to do this" Todd continued, nodding towards Griffdar, "means that these ones are trained," he added.
Todd pulled out a red potion which he poured down Griffdar's throat.
(Griffdar add 7 to your health as Todd puts a health potion down you).
"So, what say we go and see what's going on?" Todd asked the group.
"They might have a hostage, too," Briga says, groaning. "We were sent to look into the well being of a guy named Floon, celebrity author Volo hired us, like we said. Leads pointed us toward that warehouse, and those kenku were dug in and the arrows flew. This Floon is important, Todd, or at least a friend to important people. You're sure there's no way you can get more backup here? Or like a barrel full of those potions?"
"You looked like a big damn hero, Griff, we all think so," Briga says. "I'm pretty sure Bahamut is giving you a thumbs up somewhere. If he has thumbs. Anyway, glad you're not dead, dude."
"For real, though? You want to charge right back in there? Maybe we can negotiate with these guys, see if they'll give Floon up. Or charge in and kill them. I just don't want one guy being taken hostage to turn into five or six people dead. Are you all really up for this? Todd, Tyrus, Arlon?"
"Well, at least you know to expect the Kenku next time," says Todd, "Unfortunately, all the watches resources are being fueled into dealing with the Zhentarim and Xanathar Guild. I've told Staget about the situation, but again, he was dealing with a fight down another alley between some Zhentarim and Xanathar members not long ago, no idea how long his gong to be but apparently there were a lot of bodies, and a few arrests made, which means he'll at least have to process them at the magistrate... he probably won't be available until tomorrow with all of that to be done... " Todd adds. Looks like its just the group available right now.
"Sounds like you guys are a bit understaffed, Todd. No wonder the city employs bounty hunters like me," Briga says. "I guess this is it, then. Hero time..." She seems to be forcing the optimistic tone, unlike before where it seemed authentic.
"Lead the way then. Torm, Bahamut, whoever's listening, give me courage. And Tymora, give us all some luck. Like a lot of it."
OOC: Can we move in a fashion to remain out of line of sight / line of effect to at least get to the side of the entryway, before re-entering and being subject to attack?
"They don't know there's only five of us, or that we aren't all of the guard," says Tyrus quietly after listening to the others for a while. "I don't know anything about these Kenku things ye be talking about, but maybe we can fool them into surrendering by pretending there's lots of us surrounding the warehouse."
Then he adds, "Either that, or we could try scaring them out... Maybe make them think the warehouse is on fire, or something."
"Goodthinking, Tyrus. If we make them think we're back with a whole bunch of guards backing us up, they might surrender the hostage," Briga says. "We might not have to walk into a firing range again!"

Arlon turns to the guard.

“Hey, Ty you get how heroic I looked?”
he blinks and stands groaning the whole way
”Todd good to see you. Thanks for the help.”
Griff pulls the arrows out of his neck.
“They ain’t just but four little guys. They just caught us by surprise is all. They’re going to get it now that we have Todd on our side.”

Griff now a little more armored with his shield and a javelin at the ready is ready to breach the warehouse once more.

OOC: I guess we're going back. Were there any other entrances we could go in by?
(OOC: There is another door at street level, however, it is locked from the inside, think fire escape door)

"Todd, why don't you go in there and arrest these fiends. Surely, they wont want to mess with the City Watch and the Terrorizing Torturer Todd!"
