"If you can avoid getting arrows into you, that is always a bonus," Todd replied. "Of course, as you have come to me with the issue, things are OK. What happened before, well - welcome to the Dock Ward, I guess - there's at least one person stabbed a day, and the city care only slightly more about the dock ward than they do the Field Ward. It's a shame really, some of the nicest folk are down here - the hardworking ones are at least, but I wouldn't be doing my civic duty if I weren't to remind you all of the laws of Waterdeep - for that reason," Todd pulls out four pamphlets and hands one to each of you. "Here is a summary of the laws of Waterdeep - this list is not exhaustive, but that's down the magistrates' discretion upon trial,"
On the piece of paper is a list of different crimes and their penalties should they be broken.
"Now I've given you that, we can go - if the four of you got surprised by some Kenku, I would suggest you take caution. I like the idea of trying to negotiate a surrender, but Kenku aren't the best diplomats - they can only mimic what they have heard, so trying to get one to understand can take some time - but, it doesn't mean to say it won't give any leads - did they say anything when you were attacked by them?" Todd asked the party.
OOC: Recommending we get into position near the entryways and allow our best liar to attempt to bluff the kenku into surrendering the hostage Briga presumes they have, with a help action from someone else making a lot of angry ready to kick the door down noise to support the concept of a large fighting force.
"I heard one of them say that 'Xanathar sends his regards.' It sounded pretty deep voiced for a bird, but since they're mimics they were probably copying someone else," Briga says. "So these guys are definitely part of the gang war that has the watch so busy lately."
"Well, you should have led with that," Todd sighs.
When Griff tries to talk to the Kenku, keeping out of their line of sight, in the same, deep orcish voice you hear "Xanathar sends its regards," followed by a thin nasally voice that says "Tie up the pretty boy in the back room!"
A third voice that sounds scratchy you also hear one of them say "No time to loot the place. Just get him to the boss."
After having tried for a while to sound like a number of men in armour, Tyrus is giving up and is now happy to enter the warehouse after Briga, Griffdar and Todd.
He will leave his backpack just outside the door and have tucked his handaxe into his belt at the back. In his right hand, he will be carrying a pinch of fine sand, and in his left hand a small needle.
Despite these preparations, he will be ready to dive for cover at the first sign of any aggression. (OOC: He has the Dodge action prepared, if that's possible).
(OOC: I also believe Tyrus is the only one in the group with any ability to see in the dark, so he will be looking for anything that looks like a trap or possible ambush from the side, though he has little skill in these areas.)
(OOC: My previous entry was at about 4:00am my time, and I now have to go to work, so hopefully I've covered most things.)

"Oh, they'll see reason. I mean, if they're just kenku thugging for Xanathar they're basically paid muscle, cowardly criminal types," Briga says. "We're not talking about diehard cultists or anything. They should have a decent amount of will to live and all, they're just in it for the money, no doubt. There's only one way this can go. They'll negotiate a surrender. Positive."
Briga clenches her fists and restlessly shifts her balance, clearly more nervous about the situation than her confident words indicated. "If you need some words to copy, here's a few - We surrender! We have a hostage, we are releasing him unharmed! Don't hurt us, we are throwing down our weapons! Hell, how about even - we're leaving, don't try to follow us or we'll fire on the hostage. We fear both death and imprisonment, and want only to get out of this situation alive and free."
The kenku know they are going to be surrounded any minute, and dart up the stairs to the upper level of the warehouse, which would be where the other entrance is.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Briga enters first, and begins looking around ground floor thoroughly for any traps, ambushes, secret doors, etc. "Sounds like they've bolted upstairs, let's check out the ground level, guys. Anyone want to help me search the place?"
He will stay on the corner behind cover and look if they are leaving with someone else.
He is going to cast prestidigitation and create a colorful rune of magic that does nothing but would be taken for a trap or a ward. Placing it on the ground just outside the door.
Might not hold them long but enough for the others to catch up.
Following Briga, Griffdar and Todd into the darkness of the warehouse, the first thing that Tyrus notices is the dozen or so bodies that have been laid up against the wall. "With all them dead bodies to account for, I'm not thinking they're going to come quietly," he says, more to himself than the others.
Then he raises his voice, saying, "Arlon, we should stay together. It's Floon we're after, not a chance to get killed."

"Good gods, this is horrible," Briga says, her voice breaking a bit. "All these people, dead. This whole place is a wreck. What in the hells and the abyss happened here? You've got a crazy report to write, Todd."

"I'm all down for exhausting options that don't involve getting shot at, sure," Briga says.
Griff heads toward the door without giving line of sight and shouts,

“I understand you all can only mimic things you’ve heard. Ill do my best to ask you yes or no questions and you can reply. Yes. Or, no.
First off. I’m sorry about the door. I will gladly pay you for repairs.
We are looking for our friend, Floon, he is [physical description]. Have you seen him?
(If yes) Is he with you?
(If yes - yes) May we speak with him please?
(If yes - yes - no) is he your prisoner?“

“May we enter?” He shouts into the door

"Pretty boy! Volo described Floon as a pretty boy! That's got to be him," Briga opines.
“Indeed.”
”We would like to enter peacefully. Will you oblige!?”

Arlon is going to run to cover the other exit.
"Don t leave me alone."
He will stay on the corner behind cover and look if they are leaving with someone else.

"Stick with me Arlon."
Griff steps ahead of Arlon and take a look around inside.
