The three forms heading towards the pig appear to be tall and bipedal and in the dim light could be mistaken as normal human travelers. However, as they close the distance between the forest and the pig your keen eyes can see their bodies are dark, hard, and twisted. They appear to be covered in, or made of some sort of tree bark. Behind them two more forms emerge, but these appear to be shuffling and hunched. As they slowly get closer you can see they are clearly horrid plants whose conifer-like needles grow across their bodies in quivering clumps. These two creatures are obviously the source of the projectiles and needle like wounds found in the dead. A sixth and final creature emerges from the clearing. You can see its thorny crown and mass of dead branches and thorny brambles. In its hand is some sort of staff which glows with a sickly green light...

Talien leaps up off the ground were he is concealed, eyes glowing red in the brisk morning air, he runs directly over toward the pig and what does he see?
The pig is squealing, distressed, and bleeding out. It is full of needles from the needle blights.
DM Note: Everyone please make an attack and damage roll for whatever you were holding for the surprise round. Declare your target. I will narrate the outcome. Additionally, please roll initiative in the same post.
Rees will attack the blight with the staff with her shortbow. Attack: 11 Damage: 9
Initiatve: 17
(ooc: I assumed based on the fact that they were hidden that she'd get the sneak attack bonus, if that's not correct it'll just be the first d6 +2 or I can re-roll)

Your hear a silent mumbling behind you and when you turn to look you see the halfling waving his fingers and there’s a trail of a faint green light as he moves them.the mumble you heard was actually the halfling Chatra singing a hymn and what you heard was.
Oh hey I do not believe , is that what I really do see?
oh well time to leave, you silly silly little tree.
then a little streak of green light heads toward the one in the back holding a staff.

As the first twig blight nears the pig Alten springs the trap. The shrub like creature is caught completely by surprise as Alten’s glaive bifurcates its woody core — the wicked blade passing through it like a knife through hot butter.
The second twig blight arrives behind the first, just in time to witness Alten render its ally in two. Talien swings his great sword at this creature, but he is just a little to far away and the blade scrapes off the bark with a loud grating sound.
The twanging sound of two bowstrings can be heard from behind the cover where Rees and Arixus laid in waiting. The arrows whistle through the air, but fall just short of their intended target.
Chatra weaves a discordant melody silent to all those around save the dreaded bramble blight off in the distance.
A grating raspy voice suddenly howls in pain from just outside the clearing — “Arghhhh...”
The bramble blight clutches at its head with its branch like hands trying to shake off the terrible pain caused by Chatra’s song of dissonant whispers. In desperation it turns and runs thirty feet into the woods.
DM Note: That just leaves Grom to hurl his fire bolt and we will pick up at the start of the first round using the initiative order.

Alten
On my inititaive turn, my action would depend on how far away the next unengaged blight is from me.
If it is within normal movement of 30' (plus the additional coverage of the Reach property of a glaive), I would charge up to it and swing at it with the Glaive 10 Damage: 11
If the next unengaged blight is outside of my melee range, I would drop the glaive (handle accross the top of my boot), swing the crossbow up on its loop and fire at it. Attack: 3 Damage: 2. Following the shot, I would kick-flip the glaive handle up, grab it, and take my movement in the direction of the blight I just shot at.
As the bramble blight turns to run back into the woods it is struck in the side by a mote of fire from Grom’s staff. The smell of ash from the blights woody exterior blows towards Grom on the early morning breeze and he smiles in grim satisfaction.
The third twig blight staggers into range of Alten over by the dying pig. Seeing how the paladin cleaved its ally in two it claws angrily at him with its long branch like fingers.
Attack: 16 Damage: 5
DM Note: Here is how I do initiative in a PbP. When someone’s name is bolded and underlined [example Twig Blight #3] then it is currently their turn for combat. I prefer if you wait to post until its your turn, so that I can resolve the dice rolls without new considerations. But, if you can only jump one once a day it’s okay to post when you have the time (just remember somebody else’s actions may effect your actions).
Edit: If a name is crossed out then they are dead. I will also put conditions next to the as they apply.
Grom will Hold Fire bolt until one of the things are identified.. he will aim at the 2nd closest one to Talien
