"One beer coming up, we've got fish and chips to eat and if you don't like that you can go elsewhere."
After Soar and Yasari grease his palm, the barkeep is more than willing to talk. "Floon was here drinking with that good for nothing wizard Volo two nights ago; after Volo left Floon stuck around and met up with another friend of his, Renaer Neverember. You've probably heard that name, he's the son of Waterdeep's previous Open Lord, Dagult Neverember."
Some bar patrons have been listening in and chime in: "Chip off the old block, that one!" sneers one patron. "Just another spoiled, rich noble who likes to rub our noses in it!" says another.
"Anyway, the two drank and played a few rounds of Three-Dragon-Ante before leaving around midnight. When they left, several men also got up and left following them, and they haven't been back here since. I know they frequent a warehouse on Candle Lane, for what it's worth." One of the tavern regulars adds "Look for the snake symbol on the door!"
"You xrink what you can get when this stuff is the only thing around thst won't make you sick or worse." Kruk says as he gives Nick an unimpressed look before nodding in agreement with what the bartender said. As he over hears what they are told about Floon and his friend he smirks somewhat. "If we save some fop of a noble we may be able to get even more coin out of this..."

“I don’t drink. People get dumb when they drink. Just look at Floon and Neverember. No offense to your ale bartender, just a personal opinion. If you have any food I’ll take that.” Nick looks around after they hear about the warehouse. Does it seem like anyone is lying to us? As in the bartender’s story or directions?
The bartender seems to be honest, though he may be telling you all of this just to get you out of his bar. You are served fish and chips, begrudgingly.

Soar looks at the regular who mentioned the snake symbol, wanting to ascertain whether they are positive, negative, or indifferent about the snake people 3

Soar chats a bit more with the bartender as she finishes her drink, asking about how business has been, telling him about the crime scene she saw on the way here and asking if there were similar incidents nearby, getting a sense of whether he likes/respects the snake people or not.
She's calling them the snake people to herself, and has not quite put together on her own that they are Zhentarim gangsters or the Black Network. She's very happy to talk to people though and really just getting a sense from him what it's like to run a bar in a place like this with gangsters running around, noticing that he seems good at his job, and trying to give him the confidence that everything's going to be alright. She asks for his advice on what she might want to keep in mind if she were to look for Floom. (Persuasion 8... This would be over the course of a lot of small talk and back-and-forth so I won't type out exact verbiage, but that's her motivation and goal in talking with him.)
Once she finishes her drink, she'll ask the others if they'd like to go check out the warehouse on Candle Street and see whether this whole thing was some big misunderstanding.
"Suit yourself," the barmaid replies to Deryus; she comes back with a glass of water, no ice (as that would be a magical luxury this time of year).
The bartender has warmed up to Soar, her optimism and candor having worked past his jaded exterior. "It's getting dark and Candle Lane's lamps have mostly been smashed, so bring a light. But watch out lest you be seen as easy pickings by those up to no good, stick with your group and get where you're going fast. That is if you're set on going there. I wouldn't recommend it."
"Thank you very much for the advice, the conversation, and the pint, sir. I actually didn't get your name, but I'm Soar. We're going to try to sort out this misunderstanding with Floon, and maybe we'll be back in time for another pint!"
Seeing Deryus looking curious, she doesn't have even the slightest thought he might not be trustoworthy and introduces herself, tells him they're on a rescue mission for Volo's friend Floom who might have been taken by some snake fellows, or perhaps he just made new friends with snake enthusiasts (she's not entirely sure) but anyhow, they've been charged to make sure he's okay and that's what they're going to do. He's welcome to come along; Volo might have a reward for people who help along the way.
She gets up and walks to the front door, asking her compatriots, "who's ready to go?" (OOC: who's still active in this story?)
Kruk finishes his drink and puts the mug back on the table, carefully listening to what is said. "Let's go then. I have to return to my normal job before much longer."
The buildings on either side of Candle Lane are so tall and so tightly packed together that light touches the street only at high-sun.
Gloom envelops a narrow alley as dark as a dungeon - and as odorous as one, too. Nearly all the streetlamps have been smashed. The only light that pierces the darkness is a faint flickering from down the lane, like a distant candle.
A ramshackle warehouse is directly across the street from the lamp, which illuminates a black winged snake painted above the door's handle.
At street level, there is a door with peephole covered from the inside and a window painted over in black; it looks like you could also walk down some stairs to the docks level where there is a closed yard, behind which is a large door for loading and unloading cargo.

Kruk draws his bow, knocking an arrow as he moves to stand by the side of the door. As he does so he leans in close to listen for sound coming from the door.

Yasiri doesn't hear wood elf next to her whisper "warlock", and continues to drink.

The regular spoke of the symbol like he was talking about an actual viper: deadly and deserving of proper respect, lest ye be bitten.
