"Kella, I think it's time the Zhents move along somewhere else. You heard the inskeep. This is their town. It's been through a lot already. They need to rebuild it. They don't want to be a base. Last chance. No one wants anyone else to die in Nightstone."

Taking advantage of Kella’s brief distraction, Zook swipes across her legs with his quarterstaff, intending to deliver a forceful, but non-lethal “attention getting” blow, and clearly indicate that we mean business.
"Well then, if that is the case, you should convince Xolkin that we should leave. But I don't want trouble if it can be avoided." She says the last part glaring at Zook and Mandaway.
(no combat just yet, depends how the diplomacy with Xolkin goes) Xolkin comes down the stairs soon after. About a minute after the scream
Finding his balance and bringing his staff back to the ready position, Zook answers Kella in a calm, but assertive tone.
"Trouble can be avoided, my friend. And you know exactly how to make that dream come true."
When Xolkin comes down the stairs and emerges into the room, he switches to a much more lighthearted, almost jovial tone as he addresses the Zhent leader.
"Welcome to the party, we've been waiting for you! As you can see, we're having a rather engaging discussion with two of your faithful underlings, and they were just telling us how much you would love to immediately vacate Nightstone and avoid any more trouble. Isn't that right, Kella?"
"And if you're at all wondering what kind of trouble we can cause you and your men, you might want to ask to two ogres we met yesterday. Only you can't, because they're not speaking anymore. Or breathing. Actually, they're not doing much of anything, except feeding the mushrooms on the cavern floor."

Bert readies another arrow to loose whenever Xolkin or Kella makes a move to attack anyone.
"Zook's right! Let's not have a fight, zhents," Bert says, with a broad smile. "I'd love it if these fine people could have their town back and didn't have to fight off people who wanted to take it from them. They've been through a lot. It's entirely up to you!"
He moves his mage hand over to Kella and tries to swipe a weapon from her. (Sleight of hand: 25)
Xolkin replies "Well then, if that is how you feel, we will go. I'm more than happy to fight you and risk my life, and I'm pretty sure I can take 3 of you down at least. But I'm not prepared to risk Kella. But I advise you to watch your backs"
He pulls the arrow out of the Zhent, snaps it and throws it at your feet, stemming the bleeding and heading out after Kella
Zook responds, while keeping his eyes glued to Kella.
"Of course. We don't want to put Kella at risk. She's quite a special lass. I'll be sorry to see her go, I feel that we could have had such a nice friendship, had we been given the chance."
"You can keep the flute, my dear," he says to Kella. "Play it and remember me always. I hope it fills your heart with music and good cheer."
Mandaway looks slightly confused then reminds himself he is back among humans and not stone giants, he runs his eyes over Xolkin then over Halizthan and decides Xolkin is saving face a little. He follows the others whether if it looks like the Zhents are actually gathering together to leave or are gathering together to attack in force.....
The zhents do leave town, and the inkeeper seems happy "Thank you for that. Please stay here tonight for free, and let me see if I can cook you up some food. I will asses the damage tomorrow but unfortunately, I am not sure how much I can pay you"
Bert assures the innkeeper that he doesn't expect any kind of monetary reward. He will explore the rest of the town (I think there was one house that we didn't get inside because it was locked? Maybe? Been a while...), and offer to help people rebuild houses and clean things up.
He thanks Halizthan for having their backs, even though combat was not necessary. "So are you an adventurer? Where do you come from? My name is Bert but my Eladrin name is much longer. I'm a cartographer. Got into sneaking around at night when things got boring. Heard about this town needing help and fell in with these fellows. Don't mind the pun."
Looking at the whole group, he says, "so we saved Nightstone! What's next? Anyone want to help me update my maps?"
Bert may have seemed serious, quiet, and calm in combat, leveling his nocked bow with skill and sneaking around everywhere but out of combat is throughly nerdy and enthusiastic, which is a bit jarring.
"Of course you don't need to pay us, but I do think you for your generosity," Zook reaffirm to the dwarves innkeeper. He offers to help with dinner and cleanup chores, and after the meal, he visits with the others, then pulls out his flute and plays a few tunes, hoping to fill the air with good cheer after a tense evening.
"Indeed, Mandy!" he laughs. "Seeing how that poor fellow nearly cried like a kobold when Bert stuck him in the leg with an arrow, I do not think those silly Zhent people would have gotten along very well with The Pacifier. Or with Halizthan's very big sword!"
He ends the evening with some quiet mediation and then lays down to enjoy some good quality sleep for the first time in a few days without the menace of goblins, orgres or Zhents. The next morning, he offers whatever assistance is needed around town, mostly helping villagers pick up and restore their homes and belongings.
In the morning, after walking around the town, Morak comes over to you all again, with the flying cat you saw earlier. "I have one last favour to ask of you. This belonged to the Xelbrins, they didn't make it. Please could you take him to Miros, their son and let him know their fate. He lives in Goldenfields."
"Kella, I think it's time the Zhents move along somewhere else. You heard the inskeep. This is their town. It's been through a lot already. They need to rebuild it. They don't want to be a base. Last chance. No one wants anyone else to die in Nightstone."
Mandaway closed with the pinned man and brought up The Pacifier to try and render him unconcious.
Initiative: 4
Melee Attack with Pacifier: Attack: 22 Damage: 3 Non-Lethal.
Bert, intimidation roll. Advantage due to the now unconscious Zhent on the stairs
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
Halizthan draws his sword and waits to see what the Zhents will do.

Bert will follow Mandaway in support, eyes closely on the Zhents for any sign of treachery. He asks the dwarven innkeeper, "does this work for you?"
The zhents do leave town, and the inkeeper seems happy "Thank you for that. Please stay here tonight for free, and let me see if I can cook you up some food. I will asses the damage tomorrow but unfortunately, I am not sure how much I can pay you"

" There still needs to be repairs to the walls and other access points like the river or those buggers can just waltz back in again."
" Glad it went peacefully though...."
He will put his carpentry skills and kit to work repairing the town.
