Zak is sad when the bard leaves, but realizes it's getting late and should most likely say thank you to his comrades specifically Hef for paying for his drinks and food... and then find somewhere to crash.
He goes back to the table, fumbles with his greatsword until it's back attached to his back and then sits down. "Well that was fun wasn't it!? Hey.... where are we sleeping?"
You all get some good rest after spending a few days on the road to get to Oakhurst (or even a lifetime of sleeping on the forest ground for some). The next morning you get up slightly before the sun does, but daylight is already creeping over the horizon.
In the common room, or bar, you are greeted by Rimona (Garon’s wife). She is a strong red-headed woman, that seems to be in charge of the place at this hour. She has one younger woman helping her out, Karmella. Around you, there are exclusively guests from the inn that also want to get an early start on the road.
Karmella sits you down at a table and brings out some goat milk, a few bread loafs, goat cheese, grapes and a variety of dried meats.
Once it is all served, Rimona comes up to you and asks:
Will you fella’s need anything else this morning before you’re off?
As you are getting close to satiation on the delicious breakfast food, the door to the Inn opens somewhat suddenly, and yet still quietly. Constable Starsong comes running through the door, she looks serious but not in distress. When she sees you are all sitting breaking your fast, she comes up to you in a swift movement.
Gather your things! You should come with me, there has been another attack last night... it’s too late now to save the cow but you can see for yourselves what we’ve been dealing with, and perhaps one of you can tell me if you recognize what may have caused the wounds...
Hef scrambles to get his things together while also stuffing the rest of breakfast in his mouth. He winds up out the door, full and fully armed after just a bit of chaos inside.
Zak snaps himself out of a morning daze, shakes the cobwebs out and also follows Constable Starsong and the others out the door. His stomach is full and he feels ready for the day and excited to find out what is next for him and his new friends... although concerned about the attacks last night.
You follow Felosial to the outskirts of Oakhurst, behind a farm, just off the Old Road.
You see a dead cow lying in the field. It's body is covered in very fine slashes and cuts.
This is the first time an attack has happened so close to town. We really can't wait any longer before investigating... I urge you to find out what is behind these attacks. I will be setting up a guard post around the Old Road for now, and I will go visit all the farmers in the Oakhurst vicinity. I shall let them know we have sent a party to actively investigate these attacks. I wish you good fortune on your quest and hope you come back alive and well to tell us what is going on.
She starts walking back to the farmhouse, she turns back one more time and says: Thank you...
(Please make sure to tell me marching order when you are traveling from now on. The most important are the characters in front and in the back of the group.)
Renny is small and squishy, she will forever be in the middle. :D
She carefully approaches the area with the others, staying close behind the big fighters. Initially she just wants to determine if the cow was simply killed or if it looks like it was partially eaten.

I'd love to have Hef somewhere up front, but we have quite a few front liners here. I don't know where Martin fits in, but I imagine that Zak and Gwenant want to be up front, and Spotty and Hef wouldn't mind being there.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
In this particular case, Spotty is at the front of the party, carefully looking around to see if the attackers could still be nearby. If not, he investigates the dead cow.

Gwenant is not a morning person, and as such was still a bit of a groggy mess when everyone ran off after the constable. When she finally realizes what has just happened, she quickly gathers her equipment and chases down the party a full minute later than everyone else. She arrives on the scene breathing heavily and says, "I'm here!" before joining the others in investigating the body.
Investigation: 2
When the time comes to march, Gwenant will take the rearguard position, knowing from experience that not having someone in that position is a recipe for disaster, and that with her javelins she can still aid the front even if she can't close with them immediately.

Garon will show you to your room, when you are all ready. It’s a simple dormitory with 6 beds. Nothing fancy, but enough for a good night sleep.

"Oh dear..." Spotty frowns and follows the constable.
