Penumbra smiles wickedly. "I've got a better idea, lets tell the dragon that we came across these guys and they asked us to help them trick it. Tell the dragon they planned to lure it back to Greenfields so this wyrmspeaker person could enslave it. If we play it right the dragon may well leave here and go eat the rest of the cultist in it's anger."
Rand reads the note and scratches his head. I don't have any ideas better than those two. I think we should carry on with our mission to clear out the city first, though. We are on a roll!
"Friend Salty and Penumbra's ideas to deal with the dragon are good ones, but I still think there is only one way to deal with evil, and that is to rid this land of it at any cost. Friend Rand is correct - we should finish clearing the ruins first - there may be more information to be found that will help us deal with this menace."
"Alright. I think its decided then. Lets clear out more buildings before nightfall and the dragon returns. For the record I think Penumbra's idea is better so lets go for that if we feel like lying to a dragon."
Salty looks over to the unconscious Favric. "What are we to do with him?"
Looking down at the prone form of the cultist Penumbra begins to draw her sword, but she hesitates and glances over towards Bankur. With a sigh and a shrug she returns her blade to its scabbard and says, "Tie him up, gag him and leave him here for now. When we are done here we can come back for him. If we travel towards Neverwinter we are sure to run into a Lord's Alliance patrol on the road, then we just hand him over and be on our way."

The group follows the path north to a fallen cottage (#12). As you pass the thicket on your left and just south of the next building, you think you catch a flicker of movement... (Roll a DC6 perception...and your initiative!)

Init: Rand - Twig Blights - Salty Joe - Bankur (and Penumbra somewhere in the mix =)
Most of the group recognize the tell-tale signs of Twig Blights in the thicket, except Rand who keeps an eye out on the looming tower up on the hill and where the dragon is supposed to be lurking. But you never get a good enough look to target any of the nasty little creatures. So the party heads to the next old farmhouse, stepping into a 10' x 30' house with a 10' x 10' entrance area, making the building look like the left side of a capitol 'H'. Heaps of wreckage litter the interior of this ruin, and in one corner stands a broken loom. Of course, you realize the twig blights use this place as a lure when they attack you from all sides once you are in the structure.
Round 1 - Rand, who failed to notice them earlier, is surprised when the plant things emerge from cracks in the wall. There are 6 blights all told, and they randomly swarm and attack you! (on a d8, Rand =1, 5 . Salty Joe=2, 6 . Bankur=3, 7 . Penumbra=4, 8)
#1 Attacks 5: 19 Damage: 3
#2 Attacks 2: 22 Damage: 3
#3 Attacks 4: 17 Damage: 3
#4 Attacks 4: 23 Damage: 4
#5 Attacks 6: 13 Damage: 5
#6 Attacks 8: 12 Damage: 4
(I accidently wrote up 2 extra attackers - deleting them...The dice rolls are still valid because they didn't change. Everyone is up! Penumbra, if your initiative is 13 or higher, write up two actions =)
Seeing the blights closing in to close range Penumbra draws her dual short swords and attacks the closest blight.
Attack: 21 Damage: 9
Attack: 10 Damage: 6
Sneak attack if applicable: 7
Three of the things swing their twiggy arms at Penumbra who fails to dodge out of the way. As the first attack hits Penumbra she is enveloped in a faint eldritch glow as she casts her shield spell. (Her AC becomes 21 until the start of her next turn, deflecting 2 of the attacks.)

Bankur scowls at the nasty little creatures attacking his friends and chops his mace down on the nearest one "Back to the corrupted earth you sprang from!".
Round 1 (completion): Salty tries to deflect one of the attacks on Penumbra, to no avail. His rapier is much more effective, cutting one of the blights down (#5)and reducing the number of attackers to 4. Bankur's mace is a bit slow, impacting the ground but not the creature.

Rand can't believe that he let something sneak up on him again. I really need to get my eyes checked! With that, Rand tries to focus on the blight closest to him with his sword. (Attack: 25 Damage: 9)
