Astrid will walk around camp, acting nonchalant like she belongs there. Carrying a clipboard like she’s on a mission and can’t be bothered.
Investigation: 24
She’ll be listening in to various conversations, trying to hear how people introduce themselves (“Hail Hydra!”), and get the gist of any planning that might be going on.
Messalina sits down, a little bit sweaty, and slightly dejected. "Usually my attempts at subterfuge go better than that. I guess that I must have had something in my teeth. Anyway, is there room for me at this tea party?"

Li'riya accepts some tea, then nearly chokes on it with an unexpected laugh at Camilla's words. She takes another sip, casually grabbing her scimitar and setting it on the grass next to her.
"I'm just kidding."she snorts, with a sly smirk on her face."Here."she hands Messalina a cup. She startles as she watches Bell eat. "D-"she starts, "Bell, did you eat all the cookies? Guess there IS no stopping the testicular destroyer."
ASTRID: This is definitely a camp of the Cult of the Dragon. "Praise Tiamat’s glory!" they tell you as you walk by. (Some cultists extend their right hand with fingers outstretched to represent the five heads of Tiamat when they praise her glory. Others curl back two fingers, to show that Tiamat’s strength is hidden. Off to the east side of the camp, you can see about 8 prisoners under watch by four guards doing menial labor. The camp is swarming with kobolds, half-dragon people, and humans.
Messalina giggles and accepts a cup of tea. "I certainly wouldn't try to stop her, and I don't even have that particular organ! Not in this form anyway."

Bell looks up from the box of cookies to the group innocently, stuffing the last cookie in her mouth before throwing the box off to the side and wiping her beak of any crumbs. She looks around for a second. "Where's grandma?" She inquires about the gnome, wondering if she was hiding some where and she just couldn't see her.

Under the cover of darkness, the prisoners are tied to posts along the east section of the camp.
Astrid, posing as a roaming cultist, can patrol the area and give Edward a signal to lower a rope from up top the plateau behind the bushes. Most of the camp is sleeping at this time except a wandering patrol that takes a while to make a complete rotation around the camp.
For extra help, Camilla (and whoever else wants to) will HELP Edward hold the rope. Upon the signal, Astrid takes out a sharp blade from her boot, and twirls it around like a gangster in her hand, trying to look cool before she cuts the first prisoner loose.

Dropping it, she swears softly and swiftly picks it back up. Deciding to not waste anymore time, she cuts the rope and sets one of the prisoners free.
Edward, go ahead and make that athletics roll at advantage.

Edward makes sure the rope is long enough for everyone to use and acts as the anchor as he and Camilla go about lowering it and holding it for all the prisoners to use.
Camilla, not strong at all, does her best to help Edward hold the rope as Astrid releases the prisoners one by one. They are all very tired, overworked, and weak, but are all grateful to be rescued. Leosin, happy to be saved, but disappointed he did not learn more about the cult, urges everyone to return to Greenest and discuss the events there.
As the team walks back to Greenest, Astrid walks next to Bell. Silently studying her for a bit, she finally pronounces “You seem lost, deary? Like you’ve took a wrong turn on your journey here? I know not of your god, Ilmater, but you’ll always find a home in my village, Lady Bell!”
After his experience in captivity, Leosin needs several days to recover. When he’s healthy again, he intends to travel north to Elturel to convey what he’s learned to Ontharr Frume, a paladin of Torm who shares his concern over the Cult of the Dragon’s recent surge in activity. He has a favor to ask of you all before he leaves:
“After all you’ve done already for me personally and for the people of Greenest, I hate to ask anything more from you. But the need is great, and I dare to hope that you can aid me one time more. I need you to return to the cultists’ camp. You know your way around it now. If the cultists are preparing to conduct another raid, or a large body of them marches away, or if anything substantial is carried into or out of that cave, I need to know. If you have a chance to get into the camp and look around again, that would be the ideal way to spot anything that’s changed.I don’t recommend letting yourselves get captured,” he adds with a wry smile.
In addition to the 250gp each you made from the investigations of the camp, while the rest of us had tea, Leosin will offer each of you all 150gp for exploring the camp further.
When you guys return to the camp area, you all find it mostly abandoned. The stinking huts of the kobolds have been burned, but the human guard huts and both guard towers remain. You can easily determine from tracks that the cultists trekked away in small groups in all directions. Quite a bit of material has been left behind, it’s all trash: cracked pottery, rusty knives, soiled clothing and bedding, cheap cookware, and wine that’s gone to vinegar.
The only thing of interest remaining in the camp is the cave itself (I marked it with an arrow), which you can see clearly from the camp
1 - THE CAVE ENTRANCE
The entrance to the cave is broad and tall, but the ceiling quickly lowers to a height of 15 feet. Standing guard inside the entrance are two dragonclaws, higher ranking humanoid cultists.
REMEMBER: Your primary mission is to find out what's going on in the cave, and report back to Leosin in the city of Elturel for debriefing and your pay.
On the way back to Greenest, Messalina changes back into her dress and gladiator sandals, as well as shifting into her original form. "Oh how I missed this form. It truly is my favorite out of all of them. I see you're still wearing the rose I gave you, Camilla. You can keep it, I think that looks nice on you." Once back in town, Messalina purchases two Potions of Healing, a pair of oversized glasses, and some candy for Bell, because she deserves it. Once the crew comes back to the camp, she looks upon the scene in disappointment. A pity. I was hoping on destroying this encampment. While they're still a ways from the cave, she consults with the group. "Well? Should we kill them, or should I try to deceive them once again and make up for my earlier failure?"

Wait a minute. Where are you in all this?
OOC: Based on Messalina’s post, it sounds like I went into camp on my own? In disguise.

Back in Greenest, Astrid will teach the rest of the group what she learned about how to blend in with the cultists (what to wear, what to say, etc.).
She’ll also stop by her friend Link at his Link’s Runes and Fumes Emporium and pick up a Potion of Healing.
