Soar recovers 13 hp with two hit dice during the short rest. She sits down next to the slumped form of the drunk fellow, every so often giving it "I hear ya, buddy" looks. But she's also trying to get a sense of how he got here, what kind of day he had that preceded the booze, what clothes he's wearing, and what he's got on him. Also she'll check if he's injured.
"Nate, thanks again for saving me. Elspeth, thanks again for waking me up. Jalt, thank you again for healing me,"Soar says with a weary sigh, looking at the group during a quiet moment. "I'm going to follow your leads here. I assume we're going to keep going? Let's keep an extra special eye out for traps. I have a feeling that ramp trap is not the only one these lunatics just leave around. But because of you all, I have faith we're going to find these eggs and whatever else is going on around here."
"Also, I'm an idiot. I have these two healing potions that Governor Nighthill gave us. Thanks to you all, Kelemvor's blessing, and patching myself together, I actually feel fine. Someone else take one potion. Maybe someone who can remember we have them. I'll keep the other one in case I can give one of you a dose should you need it. And Kelemvor's got a bit more of his power I can lend someone who's in a bad way. I'll try not to rush into any rooms full of guards again."
She'll also grab some cultist robes and try again to do her best impression of a cultist. (OOC: Soar's healed back up to full thanks to Jalt's cure wounds spell, Elspeth's healing word, her own lay on hands, and then rolling 13 hp for hit dice. And someone take the healing potion from her! She has one more point of lay on hands left in case she needs to bring someone back to wakefulness.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nate looks at Soar and is amazed at all of the healing energies and resting taking effect. "Glad to see you're feeling better Soar! That was rough there for a minute."
Nate also rests (1 hit die) 10 and meditates, and will use Natural Recovery and recover 2 1'st level spells.
Nate will take one of the potions from Soar "I'll hang on to this one for us."
OOC: I will for sure remember the healing potion :)
So, Nate is is dressed in a cultist robe over his regular clothes and armor. He casts Produce Flame, puts it on his shoulder like always so he and whoever else can see, and falls to the rear of the line. He's assuming he isn't going to lead the way as he is still hesitant given his run in with the shrooms, and he is a terrible actor if he runs into a real cultist who might question his clothing.
"I hate wearing this garbage. And, it smells. Let's find the eggs and get the hell out of here."
Soar, the cultist is not injured, just very very drunk and very unconscious. He doesn't seem to have been involved in any battles; you can't really tell more than that. He's wearing standard cultist armour with robes over it.
If anyone wants to respond to Nate's question, please do so. Also, please give me a marching order as you continue through the cave, and let me know which direction you are headed. There are two main ways forward - the passage nearby headed east, or back to the large cave near where you found the fungi. (They are both marked with red dots on the map.)
"It may come to that, Nate. This is not a nice group of people who mean to do good in the world. But this fellow might be useful to us, and he's helpless right now, and he doesn't seem to be very excited to be in a dragon cult. He looks like he's had a rough day. Let's tie him up and then wake him and ask him questions. If he's useful, he deserves that. If he's not useful or if he tries to hurt us, then we can talk about solutions involving daggers. Kay?"
Soar will bind the man tightly with any spare rope she can find, and, failing that, sole of her rope. She will put a gag in his mouth, and look to the others to see if they approve of this plan. If so she will wake him up with some slaps and a splash from her canteen, and then ask him who is in the caves, what traps there are, why they are in the caves, what he's doing there, where the eggs are, what other dangers there are, and threaten to gut him if he does anything more than whisper helpfully. (Happy to roll intimidation if we get to this point.) If her friends are not on board with this option, she will follow them wherever they want to go, though she will advocate away from the bats and for the chamber next to the guard room, looking for traps the whole way.
Soar uses her rope to tie the cultist up, and she also gags him with some cloth ripped from the recently killed guards. Let me know if you're going ahead with the planned interrogation.
Soar, you shake the man awake. He looks at you, clearly not able to focus. Wuh? He then vomits down the front of his armour and looks around in confusion.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Soar places the tip of her left forefinger right between his eyes. She holds firm, and then keeps pressing, and pressing, and pressing, until his head is tilted back a bit. Her eyes never leave his. She smiles. "Hi! Got your attention? Looks like you've had some fun. You can have a not-so-bad rest of your day if you help us. You can have a not-so-good rest of your day if you don't. So. Helpful is telling us everything we want to know, whispering quietly and clearly. Here's what we need to know. What are you doing here? Who else is in the caves? What traps are there? Why are you all here in the caves? Where are the eggs? What other dangers there are in here we should know about? How would you safely go looking around here?"
She gives him a big smile. "I just know you can give me answers clearly and quietly. It's going to go well for you. We're going to be friends. I won't have to use this dagger in ways I really don't want to."She places the dagger tip almost in his ear. She glances down at the scary fanged skull on her shoulder pauldron. "And I know how to do that. Don't make me do that."
Intimidation: 8 Persuasion: 6
She removes the gag a bit so he can talk through it, ready to shove it back in if he starts making noise. Soar looks a bit uncomfortable at having to do this, but oddly practiced at it.
Elspeth regains one wildshape use during her rest but was fortunate enough to avoid damage during their previous battles. She crowds around the prisoner with the others, frowning down at the man with feigned severeness and just a little unconcealed worry as Soar conducts her interrogation.
Soar, the cultist looks at you with eyes that are quite unable to focus. He then looks at the dagger, and he seems to be trying to reach out his hand to touch it, but is confused that it's not working because his hands are tied behind his back. He looks at you again in confusion. Wuh? Who? Wuh? Then he gives a little giggle, then seems to remember something. Wine! he shouts in a loud voice, and he looks around to see if he can see anything to drink. He looks at one of the bottles and tries to reach his hand towards it, and again seems confused that it doesn't work.
Soar quickly reapplies the gag as he starts to yell. She grabs the bottle of wine and upends it on his head and then drops it on his forehead, from the height of a few inches. Not enough to cause damage, but just enough to get his attention.
"No. Shouting. Mister. Drunkpants. Only. Helpful. Whispers."With every word, she again keeps pressing the tip of her finger into the space right between his eyes, again to be uncomfortable enough to really get his attention but not so much as to cause damage. She places the dagger once again, obviously, right at his ear and gives it a meaningful look. She waits until his eyes focus and then she just calmly repeats her questions. If needed, to clear his head, she will sigh and nick him with the dagger tip on the side of his head, to goose his adrenaline and sober him up. If still realllly necessary, she will backhand him across the face, as she knows he will either need to be quietly helpful, or knocked unconscious to stay quiet and not give up their position. If he makes whisper sounds, she will loosen the gage again.
She tries not to look at Jalt, Elspeth, and Nate, becoming a bit embarrassed at them seeing her trained facility with interrogation, but not wanting the cultist to see her facade crack.
Soar, your attempts to get a coherent answer from him are not very successful. You repeat your questions, but mostly he just stares at you with his eyes unfocused, or he gazes off into the distance. This guy is seriously, dangerously drunk, and barely aware of anything going on around him. The only question that gets any meaningful response is 'Where are the eggs?'. He attempts to point, and is again confused and surprised that his hands are restrained, and then he nods in a vaguely eastern direction. Eggs! You really don't think you'll get much more from him, unless you either have a magical way of eliminating his intoxication or you are willing to wait for him to sleep it off.
Jalt starts to walk away, visibly annoyed by the lack of information obtained from the man. This is why I do not partake in drinking of alcohol. It dulls the senses and makes fools out of anyone. He is useless to us in this state. Jalt points to the southern path. Let us not waste much more time.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Hoard of the Dragon Queen - Jalt Rhogar - Dragonborn Cleric (9)
Soar clubs him on the back of the head with the butt of her dagger with a frustrated grimace, knocking the man back into hangoverville.
When Jalt points out time is wasting, she nods and is ready to move along.
She absentmindedly runs her fingertips gently along the new white scar that has appeared on the side of her neck, picking away pieces of dried blood from her terrible wound. She mutters quietly to herself, little half-prayers to Kelemvor about mortality and time and luck and purpose. Half-thoughts, really, if anyone is listening closely.
Ooc: I Will roll for HP and make a play tomorrow early am!

Oops, sorry I forgot:
Nate then looks to the passed out cultist, and pulls out one of his daggers from his belt.
"Should we kill him?"
Nate wants to kill him.

I'd say Elspeth, Soar, Jalt, Nate is the marching order and towards the southern red dot (If no one objects)

"Ive heard it both ways."

Jalt will not oppose an interrogation.

"Ive heard it both ways."
Nate sheaths his dagger and looks at Soar "Alright... that sounds good. Let's see what he has to say."
OOC: The marching order looks good for whenever we head out.

Nate watches Soar intimidate the man with the dagger, and rather enjoys it.
He has a lot of unresolved feelings about when he was just captured and tortured by this clan just a few short days ago.
Elspeth regains one wildshape use during her rest but was fortunate enough to avoid damage during their previous battles. She crowds around the prisoner with the others, frowning down at the man with feigned severeness and just a little unconcealed worry as Soar conducts her interrogation.

Nate echos Jalt's sentiment.
".... can we kill him now? It will be quick, clean and quiet... the opposite of how they were going to kill me."
Nate frowns, and doesn't think the others will actually kill the man, so he prepares to head the way Jalt pointed, ready to find some eggies.
