Nate's happy that Soar at least KO'd the guy, and prepares to move ahead with the party. He would've spit on the man as he left the room, trying not to let the others see him do it.
You head south and east, leaving the unconscious and faintly bloodied cultist gently snoring in his own vomit.
You return to the room where you fought the guards and cultists, and take the eastern passage. It's short, only fifteen feet or so, and opens into a new and rather better decorated room. You see a writing desk with a small wooden stool. Light comes from two lit lamps, on hanging from a wall, one placed upon the desk. There are several tables strewn with books and pieces of parchment. There is a smaller area to one side of the room, where you see a bed with rich purple sheets and two sturdy wooden chests at its foot. There appears to be no-one in the room.
You also notice several rugs on the floor, one of which has been moved aside to reveal a large hole leading down.
Where does seeking justice end and seeking vengeance begin? Jalt asks as he walks into the room and towards the tables trying to make sense of the area.
Jalt, you look first at the two large wooden tables. The books seem mostly to be histories of the region or travellers' tales of its many sights. Many of the parchments are blank. On one of the tables, spread open wide, is a simple map of the local area showing the villages the cult attacked and looted. The local area is marked as 'Greenfields' and the town of Greenest is clearly marked. An arrow is sketched in from the Greenfields toward the west and the town of Beregost on the Trade Way, where the arrow turns north. A separate sheet of paper that is covered with numerals in columns contains the note, “Everything must be freighted north to Naerytar. Rezmir allowed us to keep some pearls, a ring, and a handful of small stones.” Other papers are of less interest; many of them have bad poetry about dragons.
You recall 'Rezmir'; it was one of the names of the leaders of the cultists. Soar and Elspeth learned the name during their investigation of the raider camp, and you were there as they told their story to the governor in Greenest. You've never heard of Naerytar though.
Both chests are unlocked. The first contains woman's clothes, good quality but not particularly remarkable.
The second chest contains a set of very expensive and formal purple robes marked with symbols of dragons. You recall that you have seen these, or something very similar, on a woman in Greenest who seemed to be commanding the attack. There is also a large iron key resting on top of the robes.
Jalt takes the key and picks up the robes to show to Elspeth and Soar. Do these look familiar? I vaguely remember the woman in town wearing something similar to this. And there's also a key.Jalt isn't sure what to make of this yet as he waits for the others to see what they can remember.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nate's going to leave the investigating of the cultist stuff to the others and will go and examine the large hole leading down. Can he see anything down there? How far down is it? Could he fit down there? Can he hear anything down there?
Elspeth approaches, looking at the robes Jalt found. "Yes, I think I remember the same clothes on the woman, Mondath, I think, in the town, then again in the camp. She was a leader, or one of them, I'd think. Perhaps this is her room. We should take these papers and the maps. The information might be useful, and we'd be depriving them of information they need."

Soar will also investigate the room, trying to see if there's anyone hiding in it, and she also feels the bed and the seat of the chair to see if they are still warm.
Investigation: 18
She nods when Elspeth recommends taking all the papers and books, and helps stow them away. "Maybe we should take the robes too. Might come in handy." When no one's looking, she tries to read a bit of the bad poetry. She will also try to think if she's heard of Naerytar. Intelligence: 3
In the corner where the hole is, she'll look around for any place a rope might have been tied off to descend, and if the dirt's been messed up by someone coming in or out. Does the hole look new or old? And is there a way out of the chamber in the corner? "Well, should we go down here? Or keep going? Maybe they moved everyone along on that route north. Maybe they took the eggs with them. Or whatever they grabbed from Greenest."
Nate, the hole leads to a thirty-foot drop, but there is a wooden ladder leading down. You could all easily fit down, but at the moment, there's not enough light really to see much of what's below.
There's a lot of books - perhaps twenty pounds if you want to take them all. Soar, I've added this as a custom item to your inventory. You think back but cannot recall anything about Naerytar - you don't believe you've heard the name before.
You can also see the ladder that Nate has found, and it seems secure. You look down - with your darkvision, you can see an empty passage leading east.
Overall, in your investigations you do get the sense that someone was in this room recently, given that the lamps are lit, but not within the last few minutes before you arrived.
"Looks like there's a passage that goes east,"Soar says, ducking her head back out from the tunnel. (Is that NE corner of the room the end of the room, or is there more passageway? Does she hear anything in the tunnel?)
"We could climb down and see where it goes, and what's down there. Or we could continue on. I'm not going to just set off on my own again. What do you all think? Jalt, what would you do?"
The north-east corner is just the bedroom area. You couldn't see for sure from where you entered, but now that you've been through the area thoroughly, you can see that there's no other way forward than down the hole.
Oops - posts got crossed!

Would Jalt know of these names?

Jalt, you know Greenfields, Greenest and the town of Beregost of course, there are all common knowledge. For the others, make an Intelligence check.

We go down. Jalt answers Soar. Seems the most likely spot to be hiding anything.
