Elspeth bids the dwarves a cheerful goodbye when they reach their destination, waving them farewell before turning back to the Traveller's Rest. When Soar walks into the inn she waits outside with the horses, keeping them company while Soar makes sure they will be welcome.
Nate, seeing that Elspeth is keeping tend to the horses, will head into the Inn with Soar to find out about where we might be able to keep them.
"Hey Soar.... I wonder if all of these Dwarfs in here know each other?!" he winks at her in an attempt to make a joke.
After finding out about the stable, Nate will definitely take the barmaid up on the offer to send our horses to the stable for the night. Nate would also get a single room + meal (-8sp).
Nate's going to head back outside and tell Elspeth about the stable. "How are the horses doing? They are majestic creatures aren't they? Soar asked about a stable and it seems they have one and will be able to keep them there for the night. Some folks are coming out now to get them."
Nate would help whoever comes to bring the horses to the stables, so they remain calm.
Soar thanks the proprietor for the welcome and pays for a double and a meal and comes back out and updates the group and offers Elspeth a bed in the double room. She was going to check the other inn to see if it was a better deal but Nate seemed excited about this one and she wants to get a move on. If everyone settles down for a meal she will ask the others if they think it’s weird the dwarves they saved just left and didn’t really introduce themselves. She’s not worried about it though and she will chat with others at the inn, trying to see if word of the Dragon Cult or the assault on Greenest has made it here, and if there are rumors or information she could get. Otherwise she will eat, drink, retire, sleep, and be ready to move along in the morning.
Soar, you hear that there are rumours of trouble down south, but no-one has heard anything specific. One fellow mentions that a traveller on the road spoke of a dragon, but she clearly doesn't believe it herself, and gets a round of laughter at the tale. Do you mention the 'Cult of the Dragon' as you speak to people?
Nate and Elspeth, the stable is small but well able to accommodate your horses, as there are only three other horses kept here at the moment. Two stablehands, a young dwarf girl and a very young gnome girl, come to your assistance and seem well able to take care of the horses.
You meet up again in the inn. You order a meal (everyone who partakes should deduct three silver, or you can wait and eat trail rations in your room later). If Soar and Elspeth are sharing a room, will Jalt and Nate do the same?
You spend a comfortable night in the inn, and wake as the sun is rising. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, though it is light and will not fill you up for the day. The inn is happy to keep your horses for a while if you wish to explore the town. Is there anything in particular you are looking for? Let me know if you are staying together, or splitting up.
(I believe Nate has stated that he has taken his own room... so Jalt shall do the same.. have deducted the 8sp from inventory)
Jalt will take time to meditate after enjoying breakfast and will most likely spend the time in his room, convening with Bahamut. He hasn't had much time to to pray and give thanks to Bahamut with all the action the group has seen lately. So if the group decides to go out and about to discover, he would stay back.

Hoard of the Dragon Queen - Jalt Rhogar - Dragonborn Cleric (9)
Nate enjoys his single room and breakfast. Nate would be interested in knowing if there any magic shops or any item shops that look mystic or interesting as he rides casually through the town. He's more than happy to explore the town with everyone! Nate won't complain if we also end up at a blacksmith. He was starting to get used to the spear... maybe they have better ones. Going to need it.
Nate, make a Perception check if you want to look for such a shop just by keeping an eye out, or an Investigation check if you want to ask people and try to follow their suggestions. One or the other, but not both. :)
Soar will help Nate look around! And no, she doesn’t use the words dragon cult - she will try to just talk more generally about trouble to the south, and mostly listen.
"Hey thanks Soar! Ok let's go check this place out. I'd love to find some magic scrolls.... might help us deal with this cult." Nate says that last part under his breath.
Nate will go with the Perception option... he'd rather look on his own with Soar and the others vs. talking to the townsfolk. At least at first.
some general stores. There are lots of artisans' workshop, and if you're looking for a really nice rug or some pretty wooden carvings or a vase, you're spoilt for choice. If you're looking magical items, you are fresh out of luck. Eventually out of frustration you do ask a group passing by: one dwarf says he thinks one of the smiths might have some magical bellows, but the dwarf he's walking with snorts with laughter and says she's sure that's a rumour put about by the smith's nephew to try to drum up more business. This is a very craft-oriented town, and not magical at all.
You do at least find a blacksmith's, the one mentioned by the passers-by. A dwarven woman greets you as you approach, the forge and anvil outside a stone building in the warm sunlight. Greetings friends. My guess is you're visitors to town. Is there anything I can get you?
“Thank you for the warm welcome! Do you sell armor or weapons? Can never be too careful. I don’t think I have anything I need special at the moment but a good friend does. I will go get him!”
Soar goes and tells Jalt about the blacksmith and brings him back there if he is interested.
"Good morning, and thank you for your offer."Elspeth smiles, examining the blacksmith's tools through her glasses with interest. "I could use a spare dagger, if you sell those. We do have a few spare things we do not need anymore, would you be interested in buying them from us, or aware of someone who might?"
Nate also joins the others in greeting the blacksmith. "Greetings! Yes, visitors indeed. Was wondering if you might have some weapons and armor in stock. I could also use a spare dagger like my friend here, and I'm particularly looking for some stronger armor if you might have it?"
Right good to meet you all as well, the dwarf replies. We do sell weapons and armour of course, and we can do minor alterations too. Let me know what you're looking for, and we'll do our best to help out.
Daggers is it? Easy enough. She walks into a back room and brings out two plain daggers, well-made but functional and without any special design. Two gold for each dagger. And you've old stuff to sell? Show me what you have there.
Another dwarf, rather younger who has been carrying firewood through the smithy stops, puts down the bundle and looks at you with interest as soon as you mention having weapons.
Armour? Let me see. She looks at what you are already wearing, Nate. This is leather, studded leather at that, pretty decent quality I guess. She sniffs, and now looks you over rather than your armour. Studded leather's good if you rely a lot on your agility, but... well, it depends. You don't seem especially flexible. She starts prodding at you and feeling the muscles in your arms. Stand still, don't be silly, boy. You trained to use something a bit heavier, and a bit more solid? I have some hide armour, and maybe a chain shirt - I don't think we sold all of those. Let me check. Once again she goes into a back room, and she brings both items out.
You get a slightly uncomfortable feeling looking at the chain shirt - you've never worn metal armour before, and something about it feels - off. It is good armour, though.
(Is Soar back yet with Jalt? I can’t wait to see what the smithy thinks of her skull-motif armor decorated with flowers and vines!! If she has something heavier in the same aesthetic Soar would be very interested!!)
Nate considers the chain shirt for awhile... probably longer than he was planning. He tries it on... and really wants to like it... "Ugh... I just don't feel comfortable in this thing."He takes it off. He just can't get past how awful it feels (in his mind).
"Thanks anyway... I will take the dagger though for sure!"
Nate will keep his current studded leather, and just buy the dagger. (-2gp)
Not... really, the dwarf says to Nate. I can't think of much that would make it stronger or more effective. I can make it more ornate, or add specific designs to it, but that would just be for show, nothing that would make much difference in a fight. What didn't you like about the shirt?
"Ok, I understand. Well, I don't really know to be honest... I just got a really weird feeling when I put it on... felt so... unnatural. I'm sure the dagger will serve me well though."
Nate sheaths it with his other daggers and thanks the blacksmith for her help and advice.
(Basically, I didn't realize about the Druid's dislike to metal armor until after I had asked the question! Nate is happy to wear his studded leather... was looking for a +1 to it or something :)

Okay, so Nate can roll with advantage as Soar is helping him look and also helping him not ride his horse into a ditch while he does so.
