Sorry, will post in a second. Was trying to do morning work and this in between. I realised just before posting that I was aiming with 20ft diameter rather than 20ft radius. Will update and provide in next few minutes.
Nub releases his fireball roughly in the centre of the lizardfolk (see spoiler below), releasing 29 hp worth of fiery doom (half on DEX14 save) on the lizardfolk.
[OOC: Oh, ok! That is what the big deal about fireball is all about. Why was I upcasting other spells again? Oh, but that was not subtle and I might have attracted other lurkers in the night...]
Nub, you have never seen anything like it, and you have never caused such destruction with your magic before. You see the lizardfolk clearly; at first, their own torches illuminate them, and reveal their position to you. But then your spell takes effect, the mote of orange speeding to its destination before bursting and engulfing seven living creatures. Their screams echo through the Mere, but all you can see is seven burning lizard folk as they collapse into the water, not fast enough to save themselves. Their bodies smoulder, and the light goes out.
Two lizardfolk remain. One is about to attack Soar when death erupts behind him, but instead he turns and flees. Soar, you get an attack of opportunity on Lizardfolk 1.
Lizardfolk 3 drop his torch and also runs in terror into the darkness of the Mere.
Jalt has been awake all of 30 seconds when he notices the night sky fill with an orange hue of fire. He blinks for a few seconds, unsure if he's dreaming. When the fire dies down, he just turns around to see Nub standing there after having cast the spell and gives him an impressed nod. Some magic you got there.

Hoard of the Dragon Queen - Jalt Rhogar - Dragonborn Cleric (9)
Looks like you may not be able to make a grapple as an attack of opportunity, but if you can, Soar would try, with this athletics check:
Athletics: 11
But if not, she tries to hit L1 on the back of the head to try and knock it out.
Attack: 12 Damage: 11
She's... astounded at what just happened in front of her, glancing back at Nub in amazement and at the lizardfolk bodies in some small amount of horror.
If she has an action, she'll try to follow and use her channel divinity to invoke nature's wrath to try to restrain the lizard fellow with vines on a failed STR or DEX 15 saving throw.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I agree that an Opportunity Attack cannot be a grapple attempt. Unfortunately, Soar's attack misses, as the Lizardfolk is more agile in the swamp than you thought.
Soar chases after the lizardfolk, and invokes her divine power. You see what look like glowing green snakes emerge from the green, dirty water; it looks very sinister in the darkness.
Lizardfolk DEX save: 4
The vines wrap around the creature and it is now restrained.
Are you planning to pursue and capture/kill the other fleeing Lizardfolk?
It is Jalt and Nub's turn, technically before Soar. However, if you're not chasing the other Lizardfolk, we can come out of initiative.
There were two Lizardfolk survivors of Nub's firepocalypse. One has been captured by Soar's divine power. The other is fleeing; it's dark, and he's already more than 30 feet away, so Nub would have to chase him to cast any spell on him.
[Cough, cough... I meant slow. I think I was drunk with power from all the arcane ditruction. I don't have haste to cast, so fortunately would have just been waving hands around anyway.]
Nub is going to stage whisper "If one of them escapes, they will likely be back with many more reinforcements."
[If there is no light, nub will run in the direction the lizardfolk ran and cast a flaming sphere 60 ft directly in front of himself (hopefully in front of it and causing it fear.
If the ring of leaves, dry wood and fire fuel was set on fire by the fireball and there is already some light he wont cast flaming sphere and instead he will get within 120 ft of the lizardfolk and cast slow, then use the rest of his movement to try and catch up.]
Nub races after the departing Lizardfolk 3 as quickly as he can in this terrain, which is reasonably quickly. As there is little light, and nothing on the soggy ground is alight, he casts [spell]Flaming Sphere[/sphere], and a ball of flame appears ahead. It illuminates the Lizardfolk racing away from you all but does not hit him directly. It is in front of the creature, and within 30 feet of it.
(I assume you're not going to ram the sphere into him?)
Whether it affects the Lizardfolk's behaviour, we'll see on his turn.
At this point, Soar invokes Channel Divinity and catches the fleeing Lizardfolk 1 in her vines. Soar, you have enough movement to reach him if you wish, and a bonus action if you have one.
Nate is up next. Nate, you see Lizardfolk 1 held magically within glowing green vines nearby. Perhaps fifty feet away is a fleeing Lizardfolk 3, and just ahead of him a glowing sphere of boiling and bubbling flames.
Nub with his bonus action will bring the flaming sphere to 5 ft in front of Lizardfolk 3, so it needs to either change coarse of or run directly into it.
Nate is quite taken back by that blasted fireball :)
He sees the carnage everywhere, and smells the burning lizard flesh. Nate can only hope that Nub can wreak the same havoc on the cultist scum once we reach the castle.
Nate noticing that the others seems to be wanting to capture a few of these guys, will raise his arm out towards the fleeing Lizardfolk 3 50 feet away, and whisper "Stop"
(hoping the Lizardfolk is considered humanoid - if not, Nate's mistake)

Silly lizardfolk were not expecting flaming death.

Nub's mouth is agape. He feels a mix of remorse for killing these creatures and awe at the magic he created. He thinks his mother chose his path well.

"Ive heard it both ways."
Nub is still a bit stunned and responds "Fire?"

[Nub is going to cast Haste on the escaping lizardfolk, though is going to let Jalt take his turn first.]
(Nate's eyes are as wide as they've ever been. He's in awe of what just went down.....)
Which escaping lizardfolk? Also, OOC, why???

Hold Person WIS 15 save
WIS save: 17
The lizardfolk is held firm in place.
Lizardfolk 1, held by Soar's vines, attempts to break free: 4 but fails to do so.
Lizardfolk 3, held by Nate's spell, attempts to break free: 3 and does to (but that's the very end of its turn, so it cannot move away).
You can all act now, before the LIzardfolk's next turns.
