Nub mutters to himself "bugger, bugger, bugger! A recharge time, I should have taken the possibility of that into account. Well, I know that it takes less than a day to recharge, so I just need to survive here by myself until it does. It is fine, I'm fine, everything is fine!"
Can I check how many hours between Azbara Jos and the half-dragon using the circle, then Borngray using the circle (or so we assumed), then Nub using the circle?
Nub will have in his head to try the circle again at the shortest time interval (though he now suspects that they may have been tricked by Borngray, who may still be in the castle).
Soar turns to Jalt. "Did I say it wrong? The cultists were able to use it one after another, right?"She steps back outside the circle, waits 10 more seconds, and then steps back in, and says the word again.
Soar, you try the word again ten seconds later. Nothing happens.
For Nub:
You recall that Rezmir and Jos used it first, then after that you took a short rest and investigated the upper floors of the castle. So it was about an hour later that Borngray fled through the portal - if indeed he did. It's now much later - you took a long rest, so at least eight hours later.

"Guys! He's alone in there!"
Nate, in a bit of a panic and seeing Soar and Jalt talking but nothing happening, bumbles into the circle and tries the word himself. "Draezir"
If it works, Nate will jump backwards like Soar had mentioned. If it doesn't, he'll stand there listening to Soar and Jalt try and figure out why this didn't work for us. I don't think Nate would have any idea of why it didn't work, and it might not make sense for him to be even allowed to make the check, but if he's allowed, here's his arcana check: 7
Also, he's happy with getting some coin from the crates, although as he mentioned he's not really interested in it at this point in time. (so we each get the amount in the OOC chat?)
"Guys, I am worried about Nub... I hope that turtle shell thing he was talking about is strong."Nate starts to pace.
Nate, it doesn't work and you can't think why not. You are saying the word exactly as Nub said it.
Treasure
For the sake of clarity and to avoid confusion later, please all post here what you have taken from the treasure crates to put into your general equipment list, and also please post here if you are still carrying the treasure chest or equivalent.

For DM:
Nub looks at the house then back at the circle, mutters to himself "If it just an hour or so I'll be OK."
He decides not to approach the house or forrest for the moment and instead casts rope trick within 5 ft of the teleportation circle, on the opposite side to the house with the 'window' of his extra-dimensional space facing the house (so he can see anything come through the circle as well as anything that comes from the house): Nub-->Circle------>house.
Nub will be actively keeping watch out the 'window' and popping his head out and looking around every 5 to 10 minutes (randomising the time a bit): perception 10.
If nothing happens by the time the spell is finished, he will go to the circle and try saying "Draezir" again (so just over an hour), and if that doesn't work he will wait and try again 10 minutes later.
For Everyone else: When they were sorting out the treasure, Nub discarded his two trusty Iron Pots (freeing up 20 lbs), his 4 lbs of flour, his 1 lbs of salt and his robes (4 lbs - Tortles don't usually wear clothes, he bought the robe just to fit in with warm-bloods). He now has 93.1 lbs free before reaching carrying capacity (so can carry another 4655 coins) and will happily carry things/coins for others.
He does still have 250gp (Soar took 50gp), 300sp, 10 semi-precious stones each worth 50 gold (unless Soar grabbed) and 1 Greater Healing potion (if nobody else took it) of shared wealth from this post, which will take up 11 to 11.5 lbs of the weight - though we could dump the silver for gold coins.
Jalt, you rack your brains trying to understand what's happening, and come to the following thought: the magic of the circle is not being powered by a mage casting a spell directly, so it's possible it needs time to draw magic in from the surrounding area in order to work again. A 'recharge time', if you will. It's just a hypothesis, but you don't get the sense that the circle has somehow failed or blocked you.
For the sake of clarity and to avoid confusion later, please all post here what you have taken from the treasure crates to put into your general equipment list, and also please post here if you are still carrying the treasure chest or equivalent.
[Back to when we were splitting up the treasure: after getting rid of much of his pack, Nub takes his quarter of the treasure (including from this earlier find) and offers to carry up to the rest of his carrying capacity (minus a lb) for anyone who is close to carrying capacity.
If the total value was 7K from the two chests (DM, please correct me if it is less or more than that) and this earlier find was 830 gp worth plus the potion (300 gp, 300 sp, 10 semi-precious stones each worth 50 gold), then a quarter of that is 1957.5 gp, which Nub rounds down to 1800 gp, so he can carry an extra 157 gp for anyone who needs it. He puts this 1800 gp into his pouch, with any overflow going into his mostly empty backpack (though I understand that the medieval coins D&D money is based on are very thin).
Gems and platinum (and I assume jewellery and other treasure - otherwise they would be melted down for scrap) weigh less than gp, so to avoid complicating the calculations and allow others to take the lighter treasure, I'm using gp to calculate what Nub can carry. Also, let me know who wants the potion.
Nub's carrying capacity is 150 lbs, and before picking up his 1/4 of the treasure he has 55.9 lb (93.7 after his treasure is added). He leaves 1 lb spare, so he can carry 55.3 x 50 = 2765 gp for people who need it. He wont spend any treasure/gold entrusted to him, but DM intrusions mean he might lose it other ways (he is trying to carry it in a backpack) and he cant make any assurances it will make it safely back to civilisation.
If the rest of you are taking gems, platinum and treasure and have items you can dump, we might get away with taking everything of value (so we'd just lose ep, sp, cp and low value items).
If nobody needs Nub to carry gold for them, he'll take the extra 157 gp and pick up some of his possessions he was parting with.]
Let's keep the story moving as we sort out the treasure. Please keep coins, actually established as gold pieces or platinum pieces etc., separate from other treasure in the form of jewellery etc. The treasure should be listed in your equipment sheet under 'Other Possessions' with an estimated value and weight - please note that any valuation I have given you for general treasure is only an estimate. If you need my help, please send me a DM.
Nate, there's no response and no reaction as you repeat the code word.
OOC: We also need to split up any supposed 'shared' treasure, as it will only be more confusing later. So at the end of this, the only treasure you have is the treasure on your character sheet! :)
You try again, and again, and again, and again, and again...
And finally, an hour after Nub used the teleportation circle, the three of you stand in the centre and Soar speaks the password and... there's a rush of noise, from no source you can discern.
You stand on the side of a mountain, surrounded by trees and two portal stones, in the cold air of high altitude. Nub is nowhere to be seen, and there are no other people around.
Nub, you see them pop into existence on the teleportation circle through the tiny window of your rope trick.
Nub's head pops out of his extra-dimensional space and he says "thank goodness you figured out it was an hour recharge. Also, thank goodness it was an hour and not 18 hours, as that was the other option."

Nate would grab a handful of the lesser jewels/jewelry that non one took yet, what he thinks is 100gp worth and shove it in one of his robe pockets.
He's not carrying any of the crates moving forward, at this point he thinks we should perhaps leave it here for now.

Okay great, so please record that as 'Approximately 100 gp worth of jewellery' in Nate's equipment list.
For Nub:
You set up your rope trick hiding place, climb in, and start watching. So far you see no-one.

Does he get a sense that a magical item could power it?

He doesn't really know, and he has no idea how he might do that.

Nate starts to pace faster with each moment that Nub is alone in the other dimension (hell, it might be another dimension, we don't know!)
"Jalt! How do we make this thing work!"
Nate then walks back in into the circle "Draezir Draezir Draezir!"
(Yep, for now, Nate has only taken the handful of jewelry that I have noted in his inventory.)
Nate, there's no response and no reaction as you repeat the code word.

"So we have to wait until it's ready to move us again? I hope Nub's okay!! Can we try again in a little while, and if we do, maybe we all go at once?"
Soar will wait maybe 10 minutes and try again, with everyone else on the circle. Then repeat every ten minutes after that.
