A white dragon that has made its home in the cavern below the castle, Blagothkus replies. Filthy creature; I have had to endure this... infestation... in order to maintain the appearance of cooperation with the Cultists of the Dragon who revere it. I shall be glad to see it dead or driven away. Assistance, master dragonborn? Perhaps, if you think it necessary. You are small folk, but this is no elder dragon. Though it is not a child either. Hmmm. What manner of assistance would you require?
(OOC Soar is pretty fried and could use a long rest if the group is to take on its first dragon. She also wouldn’t say no to a level up!)
Whag time of day is it by now?
”Oh wow! That does sound like a problem that needs to be solved. Is the dragon the only ally of the cult still on the castle? I wonder if the cult was in contact with the dragon — when it will realize something happened to the cult and Rezmir, or if it largely keeps to itself. We could take a breather and prepare ourselves for ridding yourself of this problem, plan a bit, especially if you can tell us more about the cavern. Maybe we do it in the middle of the night when it does not expect it. Perhaps you could ensure that it does not suspect anything is amiss until then, keep it from roaming up here to discover the absence of the cult. As for assistance, we are happy to take point in this fight once we are rejuvenated, but any combat support you or your big friends here could provide would be a big asset. No pun intended!”
Hmmppph. Ogres can deal with the other smallfolk. The vampire will likely leave once she understands she is without allies. You can kill her too if you wish, I care not. The cult was most certainly in contact with the beast, though I do not know the detail of their 'discussions'. He laughs at the thought. However, I would suggest not attacking at night, in case the vampire decides to involve herself. She's more intelligent, and less predictable, and I cannot say for sure what she would do in such a circumstance. As for the cavern, you can reach it through the tunnel from my courtyard (he waves vaguely in the direction you came from); I'm sure my ogres can guide you.
After speaking to you, he turns and begins a lengthy conversation with the two stone giants, who seem pleased about something.
It's early afternoon; a long rest would take you into night, but you can rest now and then wait until morning before you attack if you wish.
(OOC: Soar's nearly out of spell slots, and I think we'd all rather she bring some smiting to the table in a dragon fight! Nub's not too bad but at this point I've lost track of his spell slots because I can't edit the sheet. I think Jalt's pretty drained and maybe Nate? Nate also wants to copy spells I think. Maybe we can do it but it'll be hard. Maybe I'm speaking for just myself!)
"Oh! Vampire? Where does she reside? And I assume she comes out at night..."Soar's easy grin becomes a bit more level and determined.
Would we be able to rest in the guest rooms for 8 hours this afternoon into the evening, and then get to the tunnel from the guest rooms without getting near where the vampire lives/roams?
No, Jalt doesn't recall hearing the name. It does sound draconic, though.
Sandesyl? Normally in her tower, in the courtyard outside. She has a few... I'm not sure what to call them in your language... minions? Spawn? I would advise against a confrontation unless you are very thoroughly prepared, and I have no aid to offer you. She will no doubt leave on her own account, soon enough, so I don't really mind what you do. Yes, she will visit the courtyards at night - I've persuaded her to leave my ogres alone, but I imagine she would find you all very tempting indeed.
Jalt looks at the giant as he mentions the white dragon and then turns to the others. While the dragon may not be ancient, white dragon's are known to be vicious and I would not hesitate to think that it is loyal to Tiamat. A rest would be advantageous for the fight may go on for a while. As for the vampire, our fight here is not with that creature. If he says she will leave soon enough, let her.

You have really no idea where the castle is. I don't think you actually knew where Parnast was, so all you know is that you're somewhere north-ish of Parnast.
Not quite sure I got your question, rkmobius, but the vampire tower and guest rooms are off the upper courtyard, and the tunnel to the dragon's lair starts from the lower courtyard.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Soar asks if there is someplace out of the way that the party can rest on lower courtyard, closer to the tunnel leading to the dragon. Safe/comfortable rooms with lockable doors.
Then they could avoid the vampire on the upper level when she's prowling at night, and rest up for a dragon fight.
Alternatively, perhaps the vampire and her friends are weaker in the daytime and it might be worth fighting her now, even when we're a bit spent. How much does Soar know about vampires?

"Vu vu vampires, you say?" Nate can't help but stutter.
Nate would say to Jalt, Soar and Nub vs. talking directly to B. "So... can we get to these caverns via his courtyard to deal with this dragon and end this once and for all without having to mess with these vampires?" when Nate says 'end this' he is referring solely to his own personal vendetta towards the dragon cult. Killing this dragon would be the ultimate revenge.
Nate would make the same roll about vamps! He has no bonuses for any of the skills, so here's the d20. 17
Soar says she thinks that the tunnel to the dragon is on the main lower courtyard level where they fought Rezmir, and the vampire tower is on the upper courtyard level where they are now (and where the guest rooms are).
Vampires - evil, undead, powerful. That's about all Soar would know.
Nate, you would know from stories that your mother told you that Vampires in those tales had powerful magic and were very hard to kill.
Oh, the vampire won't trouble you if you're in one of the guest rooms, I'm sure. But I will ask Wiglof and Hulda to stay in the next room, he indicates the two stone giants who look up at the sound of their names, just in case you have trouble. But as I say, I would prefer that you do not start any trouble and endanger my friends. Or you could rest on the lower courtyard; the rooms now vacated by the Red Wizards and Rezmir would also do, no?
Soar nods. "Of course! You have been a most gracious host, especially for someone who wasn't expecting guests like us. I've only faced one dragon before. Jalt, remember the blue dragon over the keep in Greenest? It took a whole town to even drive it off. We've learned a lot since then, but this will be a real challenge. Anything we know about this white dragon, or white dragons in general, would be very helpful. Nub, do you have any spells you'd like to get from that old spellbook before we rest?"
Resting in Rezmir and the red wizards' rooms makes sense. Soar's happy to go to their rooms, start a long rest there, and plan how to take down a white dragon! She'd ask the giants and the ogres where exactly the entrance to the caves are, and if they would volunteer any fighting power or even a distraction for the fight. Or a ruse.
Jalt nods Yes, it seems such a long time ago, Soar. I nearly lost my life that night. He pauses. And I will gladly sacrifice it in battle against another evil dragon if it means getting us closer to putting an end to the Cult of Dragons.

"Glazhael?" Soar says, eyebrows rising.
Jalt steps forward Is there perhaps a chance we can get some assistance in making this happen expeditiously?

Nate smiles when B. requests that we dispose of the other cultists and allies. could this be the end to the revenge I seek?
Nate blurts out after Soar "YES. Who is Glazhael??"
