So, while you attempt to press the two buttons at the same time, that's actually impossible and you push the rectangle the tiniest fraction of a fraction of a second first. The area around you, with the tower base and the hedge maze nearby, disappears.
It is replaced by a large circular room that you think must lie somewhere within the tower. Painted renditions of dracoliches line the walls of the chamber, and a stone altar in the center of the area features the skeletal limbs and claws of a dragon. A half-dozen cultists look up in surprise at your appearance; two wear expensive-looking robes with designs of dragons all over; the other four wear leather armour and have daggers on their belts.
Aiwin just mutters some words in elvish as he casts Hunter's Mark on one of the robed cultists. He reached back grabbing three arrows as he releases them at the cultist mutter more elvish runes to be etched onto one of the arrows. After taking his shots he then looks around noticing the lack of area to move and just stays put.
OOC: Bonus Action: Hunter's Mark on Robed Cultist 2 Attack 1: 30 to hit for 8 damage Hunter's Mark: 5 damage Attack 2: 19 to hit for 7 damage Hunter's Mark: 4 damage Attack 3 (Dread Ambusher): 16 to hit for 8 damage Hunter's Mark: 1 damage Arcane Shot: Bursting Arrow (if at least one hits) Immediately after the arrow hits a creature, the target and all other creatures within 10 ft. of it take 3 force damage each. End Turn
Aiwin goes in hard on one of the robed cultists, all three arrows hitting, sticking in shoulder, chest and thigh. The final explosion hits the two nearby armoured cultists too.
Robed Cultist 2 is very obviously badly hurt.
The two robed cultists are surprised and take no action.
Varan and Bazavur are up.
Apparently 'Surprised' isn't a condition in D&D 2024, so the tooltip no longer works. Sigh.
For critical hits you roll all damage dice twice, is that right? I don't think you get automatic criticals against surprised creatures; they're not incapacitated.
Varan, with a grin, clicks his tongue at Awin, “Show off.” Drawing his bow, he takes aim at one of the armored cultists in the back and fires. He stays where he is at and gets ready to see what the retaliation is going to be.
Action: Fires an arrow at Armored Cultist 1, Attack: 16(first roll, and was the higher with advantage from 2014 assassinate), Damage: 9 piercing+5 sneak attack or (13 piercing + 9 sneak attack, if going with 2014 rule set because of assassinate) Movement: None, as he will act as a shield for Tobin. Bonus Action: Takes the dodge action.
((2014 Assassinate: Starting at 3rd level, you are at your deadliest when you get the drop on your enemies. You have advantage on attack rolls against any creature that hasn’t taken a turn in the combat yet. In addition, any hit you score against a creature that is surprised is a critical hit.))
Bazavur charges into the room, (to the square northwest of robed cultist 2) quickly turns to face them and unleashed his lightning breath towards to three cultists.
(I’m hoping I can catch all three in a five foot line. If I can only get two. He would prioritize whichever armored figure looked more injured. Dc 14 dex save for half damage. 16 on failure)
Varan rejoins the group in the circle.
Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
Aiwin just shrugs and steps into the circle.

Yes, we're sticking with 2014 rules for everything, for the moment at least.
An arrow strikes the cultist, digging in deep; it looks very, very painful as blood starts to stain his armour.

Bazavur is up.
Bazavur charges into the room, (to the square northwest of robed cultist 2) quickly turns to face them and unleashed his lightning breath towards to three cultists.
