Rawk nods in agreement and will do her best not to downright fly. She'll carefully use her wings as additional hands to stabilize her descent while she tries to keep pace with the group.
You slowly work your way down the hill. The Pass Without Trace Spell seems to pull the shadows around you, concealing your passage in a cloud of darkness that mimics the strange shapes you have glanced moving around - using your enemies own weapon against them.
Though Ellis has a nasty slip at one point, Erro and Rawk are easily able to catch him, and after a tense 10 minutes you arrive at the back of a once once fine house, dry stone walls crumbling and windows at the rear open and gaping. You are in the remains of what would once have been a small garden, now lifeless and dead. Concealed by the building you feel a little safer, though can hear the odd sound of shambling feet from the direction of the road on the other side. The row of houses offers you protection if you wished to keep on moving along the rear of them. If you continue to opt to move sneakily, I will need stealth checks again from everybody.
Spider Tempest will crawl out in front of the group and use one of its legs to point at himself then a second leg to point to the back of the next closest building. He will then mimic moving then jump in the air. After he lands he'll point to Erro then jump then Ellis then jump then Rawk.
If he sees the group nod he will move out between the two houses and check to see if the coast is clear then move to the back of the second house. Once at the corner he will jump and await Erro to follow. If Erro successfully makes it he'll peek around and jump when the coast is clear to notify Ellis and so on.
(Hoping the houses are somewhat close by each other. If they are far apart he would try to mimic them all staying together and moving as one while he would scout between houses.)
Erro will puzzle for a moment to figure out what Tempest was saying, as he had, up to now, made an effort to try to not look directly at him too much, yuck, Insight: 25.
Assuming he and the others piece it together he does what he is been instructed to do. Stealth: 15
Ellis watches Tempest, getting what they should be doing as he nods. So he will wait to follow when he needs to do so, making sure to be as quiet and sneaky as possible.
(assuming Erro explains the meaning to the group.)
Rawk will nod and follow along with the plan and quickly build up speed then quietly dart across the open area between structures in the appropriate order.
Erro is proud of the way he is able to translate spider for the rest of the group! You start making your way along the back of the houses. Each has a narrow lane that separates them, often filled with rubble from collapsed walls. As you cautiously make your way, you catch glimpses of zombie patrols in the street. You see one of the strange Serpentine Shadows slip around the back of one of the houses, not seemingly doing much (what could an amorphous shadow be doing?) but as you crouch behind a broken wall it pays you no heed and rapidly flows away.
When you are about halfway along the road towards the Grove from where you were, you hear the distinct sounds of humanoid voices. Though they are not talking exceptionally loudly, such is the quiet of this place they make you start is surprise. They seem to be walking back from the grove down the street, and Erro recognises the accents as from his home. There is some (nervous laughter) and soon you can hear clearly what they are saying as they pass near the house you are by.
Slaver 1: "Well, I guess Marpeth is buying the round tonight!"
Slaver 2 (laughing - presumably 'Marpeth'): "Hah, told you mine would come through! Have you ever seen such blubbing!"
Slaver 3: "We've not had one that bad in ages. Did you see the way he started chocking on his own snot?"
General laughter, then
Slaver 1: "Why are you so quiet Lorden? The harvest is being prepared, we'll soon be out of here and enjoying our gold!"
Slaver 4 (quieter, presumably Lorden): "Stop being so loud all of you. Hate this place."
Slaver 1: "Awww, does Lorden need his mummy to hold his hands?"
There is general laughter from the other three
Slaver 4 / Lorden: "Yeah, laugh it up. Don't think for a minute these things wouldn't do the same to us if they didn't need us. Remember Yolad a few harvests ago?"
Slaver 2 (slightly nervously): "What happened?"
Slaver 4 / Lorden: "Went to sleep in the house, when we woke up he was gone. Not a trace of him. He'd left his stuff, his loot. Like he just decided to go for a walk in this miserable place and never came back."
Slaver 1: "Quit your sniveling. Yolad was an idiot, anything could have happened. While the Snake people need our merchandise we'll be safe enough..."
(please feel free to mentally insert more colourful language into this dialogue, that would not be allowed in this chat!)
You catch a glimpse of 4 humans, roughly dressed, well armed and capable looking. Each of them covered in tattoos marking out (as Erro would know) which slaver group they belong to. The first slaver seems to be the leader, dressed in finer clothes. They aren't paying much attention as they walk past the house you are in.
Erro’s blood begins to boil at the sight of the men as he reflects upon the destruction wrought to his homeland and this once-beautiful country by the likes of them. To rid the world of four of them would have been a life well-spent, but Erro holds his blade and his tongue for now, knowing that the chance to deal a deeper blow may come sooner.
Talking quietly enough to hopefully not be overheard, “Slavers... and bad ones too. I won’t be upset if we exact vengeance now, but it seems we should make use of this. Should we ignore them? Tail them to see what they are up to? Or should we use them to create some sort of distraction? If only we could turn these zombies against them.”
Would Erro recognize any names or know anything relevant about their particular faction?
"We should stick to our mission. If we are successful, we should be able to regain our strength enough to begin attacking the slavers. Perhaps we could use them as cover though. If they are undisturbed by the creatures here we may be able to sneak in behind them." Rawk replies.
Erro doesn't notice anything particularly familiar about these individually. Tempest would also remember that it was individuals with these types of tattoos that kidnapped his parents...
If you decide to move on, need one more set of stealth / perception checks please!
Spider Tempest fights the urge to retaliate and decides to forgo revenge... for the moment and motion the group towards the grove as he skitters between the buildings, leaping to signal the next person.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ellis listened to the men, so upset and mad at the slavers for doing this to innocent people. He listened to the others, agreeing with Rawk as he tried to calm down before he would follow everyone else while staying as quiet as possible.

Erro will agree to the plan, still not used to seeing people turn into spiders.
