Spider Tempest reels from the two brutal attacks from his father's corpse and moves the beam of moonlight over his fathers corpse and thinks to himself "Be at peace father." then watches as the body is wreathed in ethereal flames.
Concentration: 2112
DC 13 Con or take: 20 radiant damage, half on success.
Perhaps annoyed by the damage Rawk did to it's Vessel, suddenly the shadows seem to harden around Rawk completely encasing her. You feel a deep cold around you, Rawk, and the shadow seems to harden around you like some ephemeral tar.
Make a Charisma saving throw vs DC 15. On a failure you are blinded, grappled and take 15 psychic damage. You may reattempt the saving throw at the end of your turn, though on a failure you will continue to take damage. On a success you avoid all of these consequences.
Vessel's Turn
The vessel is surrounded in the nimbus of light from Tempest's spell, and it is wreathed in flames. For a moment Tempest seems to see his father as he once was, whole and uncorrupted, then the corpse collapses to the ground the shadow burned out of it.
The Lingering Shadow's voice reverberates in your mind, this time with a definite echo of humour "Oh! I am defeated! Please spare me!" some strange sensation washes through you, which you realise might be something akin to laughter "Your futile efforts are an entertaining distraction, I look forward to adding you to my collection"
Glancing around, those near the pools edge would again notice faint ghostly figures under the surface, almost swimming. Tempest is sure he catches a glimpse of his father there, an approving smile on his face.

Erro rushes over to the passageway that they just entered through and peers down the corridor to see what he can see. Regardless, Erro will use his action to attempt to close the door and bar the way. Hopefully this wouldn’t impede an escape too much! With remaining action economy he will equip his longbow and use whatever movement is left to head back towards his friends.
Rawk chirps softly as the pain in her mind sets in and her already small frame seems to shrink as she reflexively curls in. She fights and shakes trying to break the grapple.

Ellis saw as the vessel was gone, only to look back to Rawk and was shocked at what he saw. "Rawk!" he yells as he runs up to her. Then he touches her, hoping that this will work through this shadow tar as he casts Cure Wounds on her. "Rawk, don't give up!! Fight this!" Ellis yells to her as he gives her a Bardic Inspiration. No, she can't die here!
Erro, as you move back towards the pool, you glance over to where the old buildings are. Through the gloom, you catch sight of a humanoid figure, transparent and almost silvery in this gloomy place. From this distance, you think it looks looks at you, then points towards the trees that surround the pool. In another blink of your eyes the figure is gone.
Ellis - repellent as these dark shadows feel, your spell works fine.
Erro blinks a few more times. “What?” He thinks to himself, “I know I saw something. That was secret, subtle, I shouldn’t blurt it out yet.”
When he sees the vision or apparition he suddenly stops his dashing back towards the group. Actions permitting, he will then try to put some pitch from a torch onto an arrow, light it, and then shoot the flaming arrow into a tree (we’ll say the one on the opposite end of the pond to make it look as if he is blindly shooting into the darkness.)
Attack: 6 Damage: 5
If he hits the tree he’ll look for a reaction from whatever it is that they are fighting.
(I skipped the bad guy’s turn. Erro will take the above action when it comes back to his turn) After he missed, Erro will go ahead and say, “There’s some black magic here. The trees! I think it is something about the trees!”
((That is so funny, the trees have an AC of 5. You could only have missed by rolling a 1!!!! I'll narrate the consequences when it comes round to your turn!!))
Spider Tempest will head in the direction of the trees and look for anything that catches his 8 eyes. If he spots anything shadowy he'll move the Moonbeam over to it. If he sees the heart he'll dash towards it and drop form to begin the ritual.
The trees all look ominous and menacing... you move the moonbeam over the nearest tree. How the ritual works; Once the seed has been planted (action) in the ground, any character adjacent to it can perform the ritual (obviously can only be performed 1 / round). The lingering shadow must make a charisma save vs a DC of 20. On three failures... well... the ritual is a success. Of course, it is free to try and find ways to disrupt the ritual or destroy / remove the seed.
You find a patch of ground near the trees and water, reverting back to your humanoid form. You dig into the ground, a revolting mess of fetid, decaying matter. You take the seed out and plant it, covering it over. As you do a faint glow starts to emanate from it, like a faint call. And then you feel it, a faint echo that answers as if calling from a long way away - Rutan's Heart, struggling to free itself of the shadow that surrounds it....

Lingering Shadow's Turn
As soon as you produce the seed, and move the Moonbeam over the tree, The shadow all around you begins to stir as if a great wind had suddenly blown in. IA great column of shadow seems to rise above the city, and you sense that the Lingering Shadow is calling it's servants to come to it's aid. The voice echoes inside your head
"How dare you bring that here! I had thought to simply kill you all, but perhaps I shall hand you to the Whisperer's first. They will make you yearn for the release of Fleshbleeder"
But you sense something has changed... before it was toying with you, unconcerned. Now it seems to see you as a threat.
The Moonbeam burns into the tree, doing 7 radiant damage. The tree seems particularly susceptible to this damage, as the Shadow is seared away.
A shaft of shadow stabs into the pool, and a moment later another zombie sits up, rising from the depths. It starts walking right towards Tempest, holding out it's hand. You see the stone knife, having fallen from the remains of Tempest's father dissolve into shadow and reappear in it's hand.
Other Things Turn
Erro and Tempest, you both think you see some shadow movement near the top of the ruined buildings and Erro would hear the distant sound of a door opening at the other end of the tunnel.
