Rawk will wield her sword and shield and fly ahead of the catamaran to the east and slightly north. (I want to be 60 feet east and 5 feet north of the top of the ship and 15 feet above the water.) She'll hold an attack should the creature com into her range.
Ellis was shocked to hear Elia and Kellar before spotting the creature come swimming toward them, hearing Kellar. He knew that he didn't have anything that could help from this far away, that it would have to be closer. So he prepared a spell for if the creature gets closer, waiting until that moment.
Action: Holding Faerie Fire for as soon as the creature gets within 60 feet of him (15 DEX Save or outlined in violet light and all attacks have advantage)
Kellar guides the ship forward as Ellis begins casting a spell looking out into the darkness. Water sprays up as you carve through the waves created from the wind. Rawk lifts into the air and flies eastwards ahead of the ship. Darion using the light from the flash points out to the creature's location and releases a barrage of arcane darts that impact and cause another roar of anger from the large beast. The plesiosaur surges towards the vessel and Ellis releases his spell. A large cube of light flashes into being to the northeast of the vessel and you can see the large shape of the creature swimming through the water. Elia releases her held spell and summons a second Plesiosaur beside the first commanding it to attack the other. "Do not attack the second one!" she yells above the sounds of the waves and storm.
Dex: 20 (Attacks will not have advantage but as long as the Plesiosaur is in the red square (Ellis' spell area) attacks will not be at disadvantage since the spell creates an area of dim light.)
Ellis and Erro! Rawk- make a DC 13 perception check to see if you hear Elia's shout. If not a second random Plesiosaur just popped up from the water.)
Ellis was very surprised when he saw Elia summon a second creature, hearing her as he nodded. Then he sees that his spell sort of worked, able to see the creature at least for now before he casts Vicious Mockery on it.
Action: Vicious Mockery on the enemy (15 WIS Save or take 6 psychic damage and disadvantage on the next attack)
Erro, now able to see his target, draws two arrows and releases them into the air. They arch over the water and impact piercing into the the large beast's side. It roars angrily and it's head thrashes about as Ellis's voice magically enters its mind and causes it pain. It looks up to see Rawk diving from above slashing its neck with her sword. The first blow cuts deep and blood pours from the wound. Rawk swings again striking the same area and the head along with 2 feet of neck fall into the waves with a splash. The large bloated body turns on its side as blood pours from the various wounds. Kellar shouts, "Man the oars. There's bound to be plenty of meat on that thing to eat." and begins tying up the sail to maneuver more precisely in the wind. Rain begins to fall heavily as you take a few minutes to carve out meat to serve as sustenance on the remainder of your trek.
I need two people to make a (choice of one) nature/survival/medicine check. Or one person to make the check at advantage.
Ellis was really thankful that they were able to defeat the creature without much issue. Then he hears Rawk as he smiles and nods. "Thank you. Yeah, I knew that there isn't much else I can do attacking wise. So that was what I could think of to help the rest of you after all." Ellis says back to her, glad to have helped.
(Apologies, been a long day/ weekend. Will post more later this evening.)
Darion, along with the help of Rawk is able to quickly and precisely direct her axe and dagger to carve out plenty of tender hunks of meat from the large amphibious creature. You also manage to obtain the severed head and couple feet of neck before it sinks below the waves. Elia creates small string of vines and weaves a small triangular rack and begins to hang the meats over it.
"Elia, do you command that creature? If so how long can you command it? Do you think it could pull our vessel?" she asks as an idea pops in her mind. If she can control it for a long time, Rawk will try to use ropes to tether the front of the boat to the creature and have Elia use it to speed them towards their goal, that is if Kellar and the others think it's a good idea.
Need a survival or sleight of hand check from someone! Also, need a D10 roll from someone.
Kellar and Elia looks at Rawk with a shared sense of surprise and admiration for such creativity. "I can maintain this for one hour then I will need to finish my rest." as she says this you watch as Darion, still exhausted, half collapses into his spot on the canoe and begins to sleep talk once again. Erro and Ellis help Elia finish placing the meat and Kellar looks over the front of the Catamaran platform and each canoe. "It may strain the ship a bit but I'm willing to try if you are." he says pulling out some rope.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erro scratches his long, whispy raven beard and ponders the notion. “Hmm... well, what’s the worst that could happen?” he unironically says for the second time on their journey, and he grabs the ropes.
With well trained hand and rapidity you watch as Erro weaves the rope through the slats of the platform and ties a simple but effective square knot to secure each end. Despite the rain and darkness Erro works swiftly. Using another rope he deftly crafts a loose harness after taking a close look at the creature and ties it around the beast's neck. It slides down and seems to lock into place once it reaches the appropriate spot. Erro then ties the two ropes together and nods to Elia and Kellar. Elia bids the creature forward and you feel a gentle pull that turns into a strong tethered pull as the plesiosaur comes up to speed. Kellar looks out over the water and to the horizon judging their speed. "This should help make up time lost due to the storm. If the storm passes soon we should still be on pace to arrive tomorrow evening." he says helming the rudder. The storm continues to pour down rain soaking you completely but you are able to position yourselves just enough to find a level of comfort as the large plesiosaur functions as your own personal tug boat. The hour comes to an end and you watch as Elia bids the creature closer to the catamaran and collects the rope just as the large body flickers and vanishes in a flash of arcane light. Erro quickly pulls on the knots and they come loose. Erro rolls them up and stores the rope back in a small compartment on the right canoe. You all settle back down and find sleep while Kellar attempts to steer you through the storm.
You all awaken feeling a bit tired but no worse for wear. (Darion your exhaustion has passed.) You aren't sure when the rain stopped but judging by the distant dark clouds to the southeast you guess it was a while ago. The remnants of the cool rain storm causes a light fog cloud to gather on the lake and you see Kellar looks a bit worse for wear. You see the blisters on hands and assume it was a rough night of battling the storm. Elia walks over and expends a spell healing the blisters. Kellar nods in thanks and says, "Get some food and grab your oars. We still have a long distance ahead of us."
Need: 2 perception checks & either 1 sailing check and an athletics check from Rawk or Erro if Elia is using gust, or 2 sailing checks.
(I'm fine with either option. I'll roll both a sailing and athletics and pm them to you xtra.)
Rawk will grab her oar after cutting off a few bites of the plesiosaur meat and swallowing them whole. "Yes, thank you, and good work Ellis on the light, Elia on the creature and Erro on those ropes. I've never seen your hands work so fast and smooth. It was wonderful teamwork all around."
She'll turn to Darion and ask, "How are you feeling? You looked quite tired last night when we fought this thing."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Darion looks quite refreshed after his sleep, eating the breakfast with it's strange tasting meat.
"I'm good thank you Rawk, just a bit knackered with all of this sailing! Strangely I didn't find being attacked by a water-monster as disturbing as being attacked by those creatures ashore. We seem to make quite an effective fighting force together, which encourages me. Sorry I didn't say last night, but good moves everyone!"
When he's eaten, Darion and Robyn will be on their usual look out duty.
