Daner, seeing that Ellis continues to try and ring the bell, will try and grapple him to keep him away from it. “Wait just a little longer before you ring that thing. It will sound so much better outside.”
Ellis is restrained until he can counter with a higher Athletics or Acrobatics check. I also like the idea of you trying to persuade him to fulfill his obligations as per the Suggestion, if not in the most plain way. You could try a Persuasion check vs a CHA saving throw from Ellis!
As the canoes cross the threshold of the overhang, sure enough Liss’ard sends a sizable rock tumbling down towards Darion’s canoe. However, just as it is about to make contact it is mystically forced out of the way by Tempest’s cantrip, and it splashes angrily into the water, agitating the surface with deep ripples and a large splash.
Liss’ard hisses as loudly and as frustratedly as he can, baffled at what just happened.
Darion looks up at Liss'ard, glaring at him. Exhausted and fed up he uses Minor Illusion to create a large hand making the rudest, most vulgar insult he can muster right in front of Liss'ards face. He looks over at Daner "Shoot him again!" he hisses encouragingly!
Liss’ard stares blankly at the gesture whose meaning is lost to his reptilian mind. He attempts to slap it away as if it is some sort of attack.
Liss’ard’s eyes dart back and forth from his feet to the boat below, and his knees bend as if he is sizing up taking a leap. You can hear him mutter curses at you as he wonders just how much he hates you.
“Grrrrrr just ring the bell!!!!!”
He spends his turn throwing small stones at the canoes and shoveling as much gravel as he can into the water to make the most commotion possible.
Ellis nearly slips out of Daner's grip, but he relents as Daner persuades him that the bell ringing might be a little nicer once the shore is reached. Ellis relaxes slightly, though he is still fidgety as he wants to scratch the internal itch of ringing that bell.
The canoes continue to proceed deeper into the underground river, drifting away from the disappointed Liss'ard and, you hope, all of the Yuan-ti temple. Liss'ard hurls a wad of stinking, damp clothes as one last insult, which lands squarely on top of Tempest. It is the shirt-rope that you used to harass Liss'ard earlier. The fellow prisoners paddle the canoes gentle, eyeing the murky water nervously. Before you pass out of view of Liss'ard he takes the time to level one last threat, "Thisssss isn't the lassst you've sssseen of me, squishy ones!!" His voice trails off in the darkness.
Every once in a while a prisoner swears that they feel something large jostle the boat from beneath, but then they comment that perhaps it is just their state of exhaustion. Ellis is placated for the remainder of the journey and it is mercifully uneventful. About an hour later you finally reach the end of the underground river, which continues on into a flooded underground passage, but you see there is a pebble-strewn bank leading up to a natural passageway. The air is cooler and fresher here.

Darion, caught between fatigue and fear, keeps glancing over the side of the boat, aware that the Yuan-ti had hinted at unpleasant things in the water. He is relieved when they see the bank, but calls out "don't let your guard down, everyone keep a keen eye out!". If needed, perception check: 12
The first canoe is able to land upon the beach, unperturbed, and then the second. The sound of the boat crunching the pebbles seems so loud in the quiet cave.
Tempest will look around the cave and cast Produce Flame to light up the area around him and Shape Water to freeze both bells in ice and create a frozen dock for the two canoes. "Should we rest here for a bit or continue forward?" He asks.
(Apologies for the delay. Been on the road for about 20 of the last 48 hours. Glad to be back home.)
Perception: 11 Daner keeps a close eye on the water as he helps guide the canoe in to shore. “Be ready for anything guys. We don’t know what this bell is going to do but Ellis Ira about to ring it.”
(OCC: Would Ellis continue to try to ring the bell on his turn since Suggestion is still up?)
(Yes, I think he would.)
Ellis will use his action to try to clear the ice so he can ring the bell for Liss'ard.
Daner, seeing that Ellis continues to try and ring the bell, will try and grapple him to keep him away from it. “Wait just a little longer before you ring that thing. It will sound so much better outside.”
