As you wearily start to make your way through the jungle, you fortunately don't run into any more adventures, and the trek becomes monotonous almost - though the occasional sound of something large moving nearby keeps you alert. Once, you see the head of some great long-necked creature rise above the tree tops, and you can feel the ground shake at the fall of titanic feet.
As you push on with Rawk distracted, Tempest finds it harder to concentrate. There is a growing sense of unnaturalness that you sensed the night before hovering at the edge of perception. You realise at one point you are probably lost, but fortunately Erro's tracking is able to get you back on course. The middle of the day approaches and the heat and the humidity of the jungle continues to build again. You are all not sure if it is a trick of the mind, perhaps with last nights events still strong in memory, but you could swear that the shadows under the trees seem deeper, more prevalent. Rawk would know that the closer you get, the deeper the shadows become, whatever time of day it is...
((so, I'll play that you didn't get lost, so didn't extend the journey, but essentially haven't made much progress.))
So, we need Nature (or survival check I suppose) for navigation for the afternoon, and again if there are other things you want to do let me know.
Ellis feels very nervous as they go on, seeing the shadows under the trees so deep and prevalent, shivering at the thought of what happened last night. "Come on, let's keep going. We can get through this." he would say out loud with a smile, trying to be brave in the face of all this and encourage the others.
Ellis will give a Bardic Inspiration to whoever does the Nature or Survival check.
To Erro, Ellis said it like he meant it. “That’s right, we can do it!” Erro says with the swing of his machete, cutting away a tangle of vines revealing A: The way to go, or B: a gulch featuring a precipitous drop, utterly impassable.
With Erro guiding you, the party makes excellent progress through the afternoon. As Rawk points out game trails and other things that could prove hazardous you avoid having any more unpleasant encounters. A few times you run into some of the great beasts, once a large creature with spines on its back and a tail like a great spiked club. It looks at you incuriously, waving it's tail in a gentle warning to keep away. Another time you see a small group of large, two legged creatures eating leaves in a clearing. The have great, exaggerated head crests whose function is revealed as the let out great bellowing cries that reverberate around the forest.
But these encounters are uncommon and as you make progress the forest seems to become more muted, with fewer animals of any description. The trees ans flora in general become more scraggly and perhaps even sick looking to Tempest and Erro's eyes. More than that, the forest seems to become more and more shaded, the light from the sun strangely muted. It is impossible to ignore the fact of the shadows seeming to be deeper and darker, and occasionally your attention is caught by movement, as if the shadows twitch and shift restlessly, independent of the thing that casts them.
As evening begins to close in, the effect becomes even more marked and the strange muteness of the forest even more noticeable. You have made excellent progress in the afternoon, and Rawk would know that Dom-Sorn is probably only a few hours trek away - but would also know from what he has been told that the shadows only become deeper as you approach.
(Well, I know I hate the idea of going to Dom-Sorn at night. It won’t be great to deal with the shadow this close to Don-Sorn... but it would be better than trying while IN Dom-Sorn!) Erro will ask the above quandary while gathering as much potential firewood as he possibly can.
Rawk nods in agreement with Erro's suggestion and say, "We should make camp and try to make a perimeter of small campfires. It will increase our visibility to others but will hopefully protect us from whatever that was last night." She'll also begin gathering wood with Erro.
Ellis had heard Erro and Rawk, agreeing with them. "Yes, we need to make sure that there is as much light and fire as possible. Also, there should always be two people on watch together, so we can watch out for each other if anything happens." he said back as he would try to help with getting firewood and making the campfires.
You construct a camp, surrounded by fires. It is hardly well concealed, but perhaps can keep the shadows at bay (I'll increase the chance of a random encounter occurring).
Ellis had heard Erro, nodding back and thinking. "Since we already had an encounter with those shadows, Rawk and I should be paired up with you and Tempest since we'll know immediately if either of you get lured in by the shadows and either of you can stop us if we get targeted again. Rawk, do you want to do the first watch with Erro?" he then said back before asking Rawk.
“I agree you and I should be paired with Erro and Tempest and have no problem taking watch with Erro but it might be better to split up the casters and hand to hand fighters. If trouble does arise the mixed duo would be better able to handle the immediate threat.” Rawk replies with her slight methodical head bob.
“I suppose that does make sense! In that case, to get the best mix and to make sure we have experience on both sides is for Ellis to take watch with me, and Rawk take watch with Tempest.” He looks down at his sword, unsure of its protection in this scenario. “From what you say, I don’t know what good weapons will be against this creature.”
Ellis had heard Rawk and Erro, thinking as he nodded back. "Alright then, I'll take watch with Erro." he said back to them, looking around. He hoped that those shadows wouldn't come after him again tonight.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erro and Ellis settle for the first watch, surrounded by flickering fires that don't seem to quite manage to dispel the shadows. As night deepens the forest in plunged into darkness that seems to cling to the trees around. As you watch the flickering flames, you see the shadows shift around them almost as if they are pushing back against the light. And the light does seem strangely muffled, which might be a partial blessing if it hides the fires from prying eyes.
The hours of the night roll on, and the strange muteness of the jungle is even more pronounced. There are cries and bellows, but far less frequent. The unnatural feel of the place presses upon you, and it is hard not to see every shadow as some shape leaning towards you hungrily.
But the first part of the night passes uneventfully, and you wake Tempest and Rawk for the second watch...

Tempest wakes up quickly and scans the area while using Produce Flame to light any fires that have gone out and will keep one in his hand at all times.
The night grows deeper and darker, Tempest and Rawk keeping the fires burning to ward of the shadows the creep closer. The hours pass uneventfully at first, though the unnatural feel of this place weighs heavily. Then, both Rawk and Tempest have their attention caught. At the very limit of visibility, they catch the more purposeful flow of shadows, creeping at the outskirts of the light. Tempest hears, in a cold and crowing voice in his head, "Found you...."

Erro shall go ahead with the first watch. He'll be dutiful about making sure the fires are stoked and he'll keep an eye out.
