The warlock would meet eyes with Berrus watching over. She felt safe regardless. Her protector was never far. A soft smile would appear on her lips as she'd give a small wave with the wiggle of her fingers. Shae would let out a soft sigh before, hesitantly moving from her perch to prepare to follow the Captain and crew.
Before stepping away completely though, she'd double, triple, then quadruple check the rope and immediate area around the boulder anchoring the ship in place, making sure it was secure and not tampered with. She'd look over the boat thinking about Maxine and the Professor, and Fang close by. We're just foraging close by...But we should tell them right?
Brax and Falx seem eager to pitch into the collective effort to gather food, potentially because of Fang's attempt to hunt a shark. It doesn't seem like they have any other goals in mind other that to protect themselves and be able to hunt if the opportunity arises.

Seeing his favorite source of treats, apart from Fang, getting ready to depart from the beachfront camp to gather food and other supplies. Mushu flitters over to Shae and hangs out on her shoulder looking between Shae’s face and the pockets were treats usually come from.
Noticing Mushu isn’t in front of him prancing about waiting for any bits of shark, Fang looks up and sees him on Shae’s shoulder. “Fine, hang out with her then. Don’t go wandering off so far you can’t communicate with me.”
Shae, you find some berries that the grung had shown you to both be tasty and have a way to settle an upset stomach if cooked into a tea. You also pick several other plants, roots and bark to stock up on ingredients for medical poultices and wraps. Brax meanwhile found a small plant with a white flower on top, and several small tubers underneath, poking through the soil. Quickly digging up the tubers, he is able to get you half a dozen potatoes. Falx meanwhile is pushing you all onwards to find a source of clean water, but the best you find are a palm tree with a set of coconuts up on high. putting his dagger between his teeth, and using his belt, Flax clambers up to the coconuts to hack into one of them to test if they're ripe, before cutting four of them down for you all to take with you. Apart from that though, you don't find much else. The captain and Berrus are both wary of venturing deeper into the forest, and you were able to gather a decent amount of food, for at least a day. Remembering how Fang could make a special kind of nourishment out of some of the berries here, Shae makes sure to pick some more. By early afternoon, you all return, back to the group, some of whom are relaxing on deck, while Fang is busy giving a very fierce modification to his shield: He has removed the shark's jaws, and has bound and glued them to the top and bottom edges of the shield, making sure the teeth point away from him when wielding it.
Is there anything else you need or want to do, or are you ready to set sail?

Calming down a bit, the excitable scholar responds, “Ahem, yes, what can I do for you, Fang?”

“I’ve seen others in my village perform some sort of magic involving arrows or bolts. It never seemed to matter which. Then whenever danger approached, they would magically fly towards it.” Fang pauses for a moment looking at Glasses trying to determine if the wizard understands. “I’ve never been able to recreate it. I thought perhaps you would know how I could create that effect.” (Trying to come up with an interesting way for him to have this new magic cordon of arrows)
The Professor ponders Fang’s question and responds, “I can do a similar thing with arcane magic with my Catapult spell, but what you speak of is more of a warding spell, and it sounds like it may be divine in nature. Still, the fundamentals of transmutation are common for all facets of the Weave, so looking at my notes on the Catapult spell may be of some use to you.”
Turning to a page in his spellbook, the Professor hands it to Fang and nods encouragingly. It occurs to Fang that this may be showing a high degree of trust from the scholar, as the sum total of his magical research is contained within this book.

Shae would have joined the others on the deck of the ship upon their return. She'd busy herself with cataloguing and assist with storing the afternoons harvest. The warlock had gone through almost a whole pocket of treats for Mushu during the harvest. She had to restock during inventory in order to keep the familiar still enough to let her finish counting. She'd then take a moment to consult and review with Brax on the small white flowered plant and the tubers that revealed to be potatoes. Even if he didn't know much about what he found, she appreciated the little details of the type of location they were found in. The scholar wanted to fill in her botanical research. It had been some time since she actually took the time to contribute to any kind of studies. After watching the Professor study and overhearing Fang and his conversation, she was inspired, and reminded that she did have a purpose to why she came to the Chult.
"You're going to spoil your dinner." Shae would tickle Mushu's belly to playfully shoo him away from her freshly refilled pocket of treats. "Okay. One more. For now. Because you waited kind of patiently while I spoke to Brax about flowers." She'd chuckle at his protests before handing him a morsel. "I'd like to try to do more reviews on that flower if it is something new. And I'd like to make sure review the maps and travel routes. I should check to see if there are any updates to make." Again it had been some time since she's tried to lose herself in some work. Despite her insecurities, it was still something she could do, but most importantly enjoyed doing. She perhaps lost sight of that somewhere along the way. "You're welcomed to keep me company. Maybe I might even need your wise advice!" She'd make an exaggerated gasping expression before booping Mushu on the nose. Shae would chuckle softly before smiling. "Though I don't blame you if you want to go back to Fang."
Shae would take some time to stare out over the horizon once again. She had spent some time looking over and considering the weather earlier in the day prior to harvesting, so now she was looking to compare any patterns. The warlock was hoping to be able to get a sense of what kind of weather they could be expecting on their voyage. She'd also be willing to accompany any one on any last minute checks/consulting before setting sail. She'd be happy to participate in any discussions navigation and planning their route, contributing any observations she may have had about the weather.
Once all ready, Shae would set out to continue her studies alongside the others.
Fang looks at the book a bit confused at first then sees a bit that he recognizes and points at it. “Could you show me how it flies up by itself?” Thinking if he can figure that out, he will be able to replicate what he’s seen others in his tribe do.

Fang puts four arrows in the sand near the shoreline so that the waves almost touch them. Listenong carefully to Glasses instructions regarding the catapult spell, replicated what Glasses did hoping that it will have a similar effect to what he’s seen before in his village. “Well they don’t look any different. How do we know if it worked?” Fang wonders aloud, mainly to himself but loud enough for Glasses to hear it.
Shae, after a while, the captain approaches you: "Your maps have been invaluable. I was wondering if you could give me a hand in plotting our course back to port". WIth that, she pours over your map and the documented settlements drawn in on the map in the professor's gazetteer.
Fang and Professor, you spend some time working with the arrows, and Fang realises how to affect the arrows so they'd become projectiles on their own, but he's curious how to translate that to a warding effect that is able to remain in place, even if he wasn't present. You have the idea of showing him some of the patterns for the alarm spell, since it has a similar property of triggering upon an outside event. Armed with these two examples, Fang meditates on the two spells and tries to think of how to combine them, and tries to remember how the elders did it.
Getting up, you start to bury the different arrows, and then begin to write the enchantments for the catapult spell around them in the same geometric pattern that the sigils for alarm took up. Whenever you struggle to remember the gnomish terms you saw in the book, you instead write it in draconic, until the circle is an intricate mix of two languages and geometric patterns. Once you're done, you look at the circle. It looks impressive, but the elders had a faster, more efficient way. Still, if this worked, it was a beginning. How to test it though?
