Jonathan kicks his leg and sends the mass of spiders away. The wounds look gross but it doesn't seem the spiders had much intent on feasting on him. After a moment, the spiders scatter and the mass soon turns to a few spiders here and there. It's unsettling where they may have all went, but at least they're not trying to engulf anyone in the party.
With the immediate threat of spiders out of sight, the cries from the town square draw your attention. You rush against the crowd toward the town square after Paren. He looks around the square trying to find something. As you reach him, you see a giant creature of earth and mud ripping off large slabs of marble from the Shrine of Shamara as if he is trying to get inside.
Finan cannot help but burst into laughter as he overhears Jonathan complain about the new situation, once again too bizarre to even begin to imagine. "We'll wake up soon, Jonathan. This has to be nothing more than just a bad dream."
It is becoming clear the stress is once again taking hold of Finan as he watches the giant pile of moving mud assailing the Shrine. "Alright, enough,"he shouts out at the creature, pulling power from the earth beneath him in a mixture of anger and frustration and flinging it at the monster, "You pile of sludge, I said enough!"
You watch as the giant elemental steps through the broken facade and into the shrine. Finan can feel his magic take hold as the creature uses two monstrous fists to smash the large statue that sat in the middle of the shrine.
As Jonathan advances toward the creature, he sees that it is solely focused on the shrine. It looks like the earthly mass rose from the town square itself before it made its way to the temple. He does his best to get the creatures attention, but it pays him little note.
Paren looks back as his friends catch up with him. "This things back again. I've got a score to settle with it." He runs forward until he is within 10 feet of the creature. The emblem in his shield begins to glow green and he slams the hilt of his rapier against it, calling out "fearg nadur!" (nature's wrath)
Target must succeed on a strength or dexterity saving throw (it's choice) with a DC 10, or be restrained. Can repeat at the end of each turn.
As Paren enters the shrine. he sees that the once immaculate shrine is in a state of disarray. The gorgeous statue that sat at the center is now in pieces across the marble floor. Large mounds of dirt and mud that have fallen off the elemental are similarly scattered about. The rear of the shrine has been seiged by the large creature and the rooms that were once behind a solid marble wall are now exposed.
Ahead, you see Falaine casting magic up at the creature. She then slices through it with a magical blade.
You watch as vines burst through the marble floor and wrap around the creature. The creature struggles against their strength and seems to be restrained.
Tanni runs as fast as she can after her companions. When she sees it being restrained by vines, she yells "Good work! Keep it still!" and rushes forth, slamming her warhammer at the creature. She then responds to Falaine, raising her voice so it can be heard over the chaos inside the shrine "Mostly, yes. Most of the plagued animals are dead!"
Attack: Attack: 24 Damage: 7 bludgeoning damage.
Edit: Forgot the advantage, so I'll make another roll to see if I crit:
12 , nope, so the first roll stands. Thanks for the reminder!
((We're going to work on Party initiative / creature initiative for the moment. Which leads us to the creatures activation.))
The large mass of earth and rock smashes against the rear wall cleaving the doors and their frame out of the way. You can tell the magic is dampening its efforts. It rumbles as it tries to break free of the vines.
STR Save: 12
The vines snap as it pulls itself free. You can all tell it is trying to get deeper into the back of the shrine.
((party's turn. The elemental is no longer restrained))
The soft exterior of the elemental seems to swallow Jonathan's rapier rather than be wounded. As Jonathan pulls the weapon out of the creature, he sees it caked in a muddy mess of earth and plant.
Paren does not see Falaine. He also does not see any of the boars.
As Finan reaches out to the gods he finds little response. The sense is odd as if his prayers never reached their targets.
Constitution Saving Throw: 23
