Paren gives out another loud curse as the vines snap. He swings out with his blade as he rushes in. He yells out "eiri as" and his blade begins to glow with the green energy that his shield had before.

"Will weapons even wound this thing?"Finan cries out, not convinced that jabbing at the moving earth and mud will actually cause it to slow down, but then he did not have much else at his disposal to deal with it himself. The only thing he can think of is throwing more arcane-laced words at it. "Stop it, you lumbering brute!"
And hitting harder does seem to have impact as Tanni slams through the soft outer shell of the elemental and into the hard stone core causing the giant elemental to stutter in its step. While the mass of soft mud closes over the wound, Tanni is certain it caused a large amount of damage to the earthen mass.
Falaine slices through the mass with a magical strike scattering mud and stone across the marble floor.
((Con save: 24))
The elemental pays little regard to the wounds caused by those at its feet and steps forward through the crumbled wall. It smashes through the next barrier exposing the room where you know Krusk resides. As the marble falls, you strain to see into the room and spot the bones of a large halforc laid over the desk. The wood of the desk is covered in some sort of black substance that seems to be moving. The elemental swings wildly at the walls not ending its destruction at the revelation. It's head turns side to side as it examines the space.
((party initiative. You all may make attacks of opportunity against he creature if you were in melee of it before it moved away.))

Opportunity attack: 13 Damage: 10 Divine smite (if this one hits): 13
Paren looks through the now broken wall. "Oh come on! First this guy's here and now he's dead too! What is happening in this town!" He then looks back to the elemental and just keeps swinging.
Attack: 21 Damage: 8
(OOC: Opportunity attack is a nat20 so the damage will be doubled. Not sure if that also doubles the divine smite, I don't think it does though.)
((Critting allows you to roll all damage dice twice so the smite would also be included. If you use the combat dice roller in the forums, it does all of this for you by rolling the additional dice if the attack is a crit. For your roll, we'll just double the dice so it would be 14+10 for 24 damage. Hope that makes sense.))
Paren stabs into the elemental with devastating accuracy. His rapier slams against the stone within the elemental making the strike not able to pierce as far as expected. Still the damage holds and the divine energy that flows through the rapier blasts fragments of stone and earth from the wound.
Feeling confident, Paren strikes again but the earthen armor of the creature proves too strong to leave lasting damage.

"Stop ignoring me, you brainless pile of sludge!" Tanni strikes at the giant as it moves away from her. "We need to stop it before the whole shrine collapses on us!" She then takes a couple of steps to gather speed and swings her warhammer once again, trying to reach the solid stone core.
Tanni's strike misses the elemental as it moves away from her but her follow-up attack strikes true. The elemental is definitely looking worse than it did when the group first saw it. Portions of the creature were cast across the marble floor with mud and gunk covering the once holy place.
Finally seeing the weapons doing some damage, Finan decides to simply get stuck in as well. His words were doing barely anything to stop the creature, so perhaps a few well-placed jabs of his rapier would do the trick. His eyes have registered the dead half-orc and the black sludge, but there is little he can do about it this moment, even realizing it could well be the archeologist that was splayed out on the table.
Mechanics:

OOC: Don't worry guys, I'm making up for all the crits you're rolling!
Falaine slices and smashes into the elemental causing more dirt and mud to be cast about the room. It's easy for her to tell that the creature is struggling to keep itself together.
Finan stabs at the mass of earth and rock and finds the weight of his weapon slightly off from all the mud and grime. This distracts him in his thrust and he finds the rapier stabbing at nothing but mud.

Jonathan's AoO from it walking past. 24 vs. AC. Hit:11 piercing damage.
"Don't think you're getting any further." Jonathan rushes back up to the elemental, attempting to pierce deeper into it and hopefully break something inside. (Reckless attack, etc. etc.)
Rapier vs. Elemental: 24 vs. AC. Hit:7 piercing damage.
As Jonathan pierces the stone and earth he can feel his weapon drive deep into the core of the elemental. Suddenly, the mud and dirt seem to melt away from the form and splatter across the marble floor. Rocks and pieces of plants are embedded into the mud. Those that have been in the grove would recognize the plant growths to be from that area. The elemental seems to have been killed as the piles of dirt doesn't move.
((COMBAT IS OVER. Well done killing the elemental!))

Finan yelps in surprise as the thing collapses, then immediately covers it with a deep, manly cough. "I suppose that was the elemental, then?" he says, then casts a wary glance upwards. "Either there is another one up there, or the temple is on the verge of collapse. I think it's best we get out of here. Jonathan, can you get the body?"
He points at the body of the half-orc, then realizes the black sludge might still be on the table with it.

... Yep. Definitely making up for all your crits. Keep at it, guys!
Jonathan grimaces somewhat, thinking he'll have to clean that off when they're back at the inn.
