The group turns tails and runs like little school children walks back down the passage out of the plant filled room, using Badger's disk to climb over some slime. They reach the T junction, but open the secret door to the right, heading into the back-room style halls of the dungeons keepers. They use another disk to climb over another patch and find themselves back in the round stairway. The unopened door to their right stands silent. They ignore it and head on up. After climbing nearly 150 stairs, they reach the next level, where a hallway runs down to end at a secret door. The continue past it, climbing to the next level. The strange armored guardian stands watch over a tunnel below, next to a lever. A small crawlway against one wall is likewise ignored for now as the group climbs more stairs. You reach the top of the stairs. It's quiet here. The hall to the left leads to the office you blew up. The hall straight that way leads to the workshop and tool room, where a secret door leads up. A hallway to the right leads through two secret doors, past the divining pool, and out onto the 2nd level down of the main central stairway.
Mal, who as usual, is leading, can arguable decide which way she wants to go.

Mal pushes the first secret door open, seeing the pool, still half empty. She pushes open the next one, and looks out onto the 2nd floor down's balcony. Stairs descend to the 3rd floor immediately to the left. On the right wall, halfway down, is a strange nine foot wide stone door with three oval holes carved into it at head height. On the far balcony is a hallway leading directly away. When it curves to the left wall, a hallway heads left as well, just before the stairs that lead up to the top floor. Down below you see one more floor of balcony, and then the 4th floor down which is the bottom of the staircase, with four gargoyles statues positioned around a ten foot hole in the floor, which, though it descends into darkness, you know falls through to the vegetation filled gear room you just left a short time ago.

Mal looks about, "Well if we want to clear each level of this dungeon before we go down to the next. Then we should carefully walk along the walkway and check out the tunnel that leads off to the east." With that said Mal will start to lead the group and go and look down the passageway to the east to see what she sees.
Well, who can say what's east and west around here, you're underground after all (yes, fine, it's east, but I have an issue with cardinal directions in dungeon descriptions. I'll get over it. NOT.) .... as you walk past the stone door on the right (SOUTH) wall with the holes in it, three humanoid heads stick out of the three holes, each covered in putrid flesh and gnashing on an iron bit, bolted to a bridle.
The group wanders past the disturbing site, as the three zombies gnash on their metal bit. You turn left on the balcony, before taking a right (EAST) down the first passage. You pause long enough to take a look first. About thirty five feet down this passage, it reaches as 4 way intersection. Another 25 feet beyond that, it seems to open up into a room.

You head down the tunnel. At the four-way intersection, the corridors to left (north) and right (south) curve upward and out of sight, but with no rails or steps to allow them to be climbed. The corpse of a half-human, half-goat creature in robes sprawls ten feet to the north. It grips a staff tipped with a bronze goat's head.

Grenk looks at the creature. There is no such race of creatures that he's ever met or heard of, but....maybe a goat, and a nice lady..you know...or... well, mad wizard. So many options.
Badger finds he can easily walk along the curving passage that curves all the way up, gravity seems to keep him always pointing at the rounded floor.

This reminds Badger of walking on the walls and ceiling in the yuan-ti lair. He'd like to keep walking, but it would be prudent to wait for his friends, and assess the risks first. He watches as Sickle digs into the bag.

"In all my training,I ain't ever seen a creature like this. Not fey or fiend or any. Either he's a new race, hes a cross breed or its magic... he'll wouldnt be surprised if that goat staff is one of them tricky gods and turns folk into that." Grenk says.
Sickle looks at the rotting corpse. Yup, definitely dead. These crossbow bolts stuck in it, plus some blade hits and broken bones. Definitely murdered.
He searches through the bag. Inside his bag is an ink pot, a book that, when flipped open appears full of arcane writing...probably a spell book, a few changes of clothes, some rotted rations, a waterskin, half full, and a book that looks to be written in common. It looks like a journal. When Sickle touches the ink pot, he feels a magical tingle come from it.

Kirin - Level 15 High Elf Wizard (Evocation) - Zorg's Lost Souls - Overchannel Steel Wind Strike for the Win against Demogorgon Silas - Level 11 Human Cleric (War Domain) - Tomb of Annihilation Done
Deep in the cliff face of the lost city of Omu, in what is likely the very resting place of the Soul Monger, the place that people all over Faerun are seeking and hoping to destroy, the valiant adventurers stand in a hallway. It's an intersection....but really...is starting to feel like a crossroads in their lives. Left up, right up, straight into that room, back this way. What does it all mean? Sickle stands, his hand absently rubbing the cold ring on his finger, his eyes glazed, lost in thought...visions of the world wrapped in ice dancing in his mind. Grenk stands there, staring at the small folk reading some book, hoping to solve yet some other mystery, when the thing he really wants to know is...where's the next undead. He can feel their rotten cold breath in here. Heck, back down in the main stairway there's a freaky door with three holes in it and undead sticking their faces out of it. He should probably just nip back there and take care of those nasties while the gnome is reading. Silas meanwhile stands there, finally not sweating for once in the past two months....feeling cool, but still a bit prickly, though he can't figure out quite why he's feeling so testy....perhaps it's Badger's growing ego that has him bothered. Mal stands there, cool as a cucumber, leaning against a wall picking at something in her teeth.
Meanwhile, Badger reads. The journal belongs to one "Devlin Bashir", a Calishite wizard and a member of the Company of the Yellow Banner. Entries before that final one there, talk about the exploits of the Company in Chult. They made landfall in Kitchener's Inlet aftering arriving by ship. They followed the river Olung to Lake Luo before cutting south west into the jungle. Their description could easily be that of your own, with harrowing encounters, their search for puzzle cubes, their brushes with the Yuan-ti, and their discovery of the true tomb entrance. Unfortunately there is no mention of any experiences inside the tomb except the final entry. There is one entry here that speaks about his staff. "What have I become, a true goat like monster thanks to this thing. Seward was able to remove the evil curse, but....as soon as I try to make use of it, it again transforms me. We've decided for the time being that using the staff is worth the curse...when we're done here Seward can undo this evil upon me."
Badger breaks the silence as he slams the book shut, and stows it away for later. "Well, obviously they weren't very competent," he scoffs. But in his mind, as he looks at the mangled body on the floor, he sees images of Sir Darak splayed and disembowelled, of Boris pierced with spikes, and of Sickle's horribly dismembered and burnt corpse - oh wait, that's the future, better not mention that one.
Apparently the staff is inert unless used, but Badger partially wraps it in cloth anyway, and straps it to his pack for later identification, and to determine if the advantage is worth the curse.
Then, turning to the others, he says: "Well this path likely circles back around to that other side, but let's see where it goes. Urgh, Grenk! You go first!"

Either that creature acquired a staff in his own likeness, thinks Badger, or the staff changed the creature to match its own.
Don't touch the staff, the gnome warns the others. He walks slowly and carefully forward, just close enough to cast Detect Magic.
