"Any direction is better than sitting here with this dead guy. And I agree it seems their company was not all that great. We can obviously do better than they did, right?" Mal says as she heads in the direction Badger points.
Sickle ponders what he read, considering the ring, and the staff, and the nature of curses..the writer was right. Some things were worth the power that came with protection, at least in this place. That Ras Nsi was a servant of Acererak seemed like new information. He talked as they began to move. "That Yuan-Ti warlord we killed was a servant of Acererak. All that he wrought upon Chult...somehow it was Acererak's design? We have certainly made it farther than their company did, though we should not let our guard down." As they moved out, he handed the inkwell to Badger. "This seems magical, and undoubtedly you will find it more useful than most of us. That staff on the other hand...we should spend time later ascertaining it's nature. And maybe we should try to find the Starfallen the wizard mentioned."
The group, led by Grenk, chats quietly as they march up the curving floor. It's an odd sensation, and an odd sight seeing your allies walking up a perpetually curving landscape. The hallway appears featureless and boring for the entire round trip, when you arrive, once again, in the middle of the same intersection, having done a full 360 circle you figure. Except....there's no body. The goat body appears to be missing now. But you'd swear you've done a complete 360 and are in the same spot you left.

Grenk stops and holds up a hand. "We crossed something. It was magic keepin us goin around and now full circle we musta crossed into somethin. Badger, we keep pressing on or we walk backwards outta this place?"
"This is a maze, I suspect we can not expect normal ideas to apply as many tricks can be deployed," Silas states as he looks around, "It may be possible we think we have gone in circle but actually have gone to another level. Maybe if we retrace our path, we may find the body once more if you want to test my theory. Is the man's staff still with you Badger?"

The staff is almost twice Badger's height, and strapped to his pack it sticks out far above his head like a flagpole. It has been hitting against his legs on the way around the loop. But Badger checks to make sure it's still there, just in case he forgot about it.
"I am getting tired of this place rapidly. It is messing with our minds as well as just simply trying to kill us. Maybe we should have stayed down below and found the end and hopefully be done with this place. I am not sure how much longer we can hold out against this place." Mal says worryingly.
Grenk, not receiving anything that resembles a direction from his group, shrugs to himself and follows his and Silas' instincts. The group trudges after him, turning and walking back around the loop. Sure enough, once you've felt like you've done a complete loop, you see a goat body up ahead and the intersection.

Badger squints at Mal. The pressure is setting in, he says to himself. I imagine it's these surface-dwellers not accustomed to long periods underground.
The riddle of the loop-path intrigues Badger. It seems like a fairly benign puzzle, and one he would like to investigate, but for now he is satisfied it is simply nothing more than some kind of temporal anomaly with a potentially related co-spacial and quasi-gravitational component. Maybe there will be time for it later, after the world is saved. In fact, he might enjoy spending more time here in the future, pottering around, poking his head into nooks and crannies, narrowly avoiding horrible painful death...
So, he says to the others, shall we continue... east?

"So this is a spiral pathway," Silas states as he examines the goat body to see if anything changed since they've last seen it, "Even through no one could tell, we were going deeper down. Here is the question, do you want to go keep going down this way or the other way? We will be moving down but choice seems how do you want to do it,"

"Our goal is to end this As, Asserack, or whatever. The longer we wait, the more souls that get absorbed and the more powerful he becomes. Think of the distance this thing spans... Must be consuming hundreds of souls every hour. Do we really have the enough time to move about every single room?" Grenk questions.
Badger clucks his tongue at Grenk's foolish impatience. You don't understand the way great minds think, he says. And this place was made by one of the greatest and most devious. His objective is not to create a puzzle to be solved. It is to create a puzzle that all are doomed to fail. Consider where we were downstairs... Badger starts using hand gestures as if teaching a school child how to spell their name... Our only way forward was to potentially cut ourselves off from ever returning. If I was Acererak, I would ensure that anyone that did so would find they lacked something they had no hope of going back for. We must be smarter than that. It is better we search thoroughly and leave no stone unturned, no secret unsolved. Only then can we hope to destroy the Soul Monger.
Badger goes silent for a moment as he privately laments having destroyed the architect of this place so soon. How much they could have learned... but then again, Badger had been sure that the creature would not have relinquished its knowledge to them. No, Badger would have to out-think both minds - become the master of this place as if it were his own. Solve every riddle that...
Badger gasped. The ring is a path to another tomb! he almost yells. That must be what we saw back there... another tomb, accessed via this ring-path! Perhaps that is the true location of the Soul Monger!

"Acererak wants us dead as everyone who may have entered. He has set up this place to do that. This man spoke of how the maze grinded them to death. One by one they fell to the dangers of this maze. He doesn't have to kill us but rather he just need to survive until we succumb to the maze's dangers as he grows stronger with tim,e" Silas states as he points to the dead man.
"You are scared of leaving behind the answer to something we may find beyond? Who is to say there even is an answer to the problem? Why would give solution to problems he set up? Just set up a puzzle without a solution and he just watches us search the tiniest corners of the maze and finding the many dangers of this maze we could have avoided or have forgotten your voice in your head?"

Exactly!says Badger, agreeing with Silas. There may be no solution! Hence we should concern ourselves not with solving the puzzle laid out for us, but by out-thinking the creator. Look at the picture beyond the puzzle! That is why searching every room systematically will enable us to discover the thought process at work in its creation, to elucidate the mysteries behind them all, and formulate an intellectual means to conquer them.
With that, Badger politely ushers Silas forward, inviting him to take the lead in investigating the passage to the east and the room that lays beyond.

"The way I see it there are two arguments going on here, one is to finish up exploring each level of this dungeon hoping to find clues to help defeat this Ass person. The 2nd is to damn the dungeon and just go back down to the end and be done with it. I am a simple person and this jungle and now dungeon have been trying to kill me for quite sometime now."
