Though everything inside the crystal are shades of transparent blue, Badger notes a lever, a steering wheel, and two pedals, all shaped out of clear crystal and embedded on a dashboard. The toad looks over at Badger with suspicion.
(We're out of initiative now).
It takes Badger only a few moments to learn the truth behind the controls. Steering wheel rotates the thing left or right. The lever makes it go up or down. And the pedals make it go forward and backwards. Sickle commands the hand to release the damaged ship, and you watch as Badger experiments with the controls. The ship it rather damaged having taken a punishing number of crossbow strikes, with cracks spiderwebbed all around its structure.
You also see a panel with ten buttons on it. Pushing each button seems to open a small window, 1 foot across, in any of the ten surfaces of the crystal. Pushing it again closes the window. A last button makes two whole sides of the crystal fold open, creating a doorway for entering and leaving.
"Badger, think you can have your familiar check out this crawlway?" Silas request as he points to it.
(wasn't the stairswayleard to a locoked doorway according o Badger's eye?)

The crystal ship is a rather large target at the end of Mal's aimed crossbow but she sees the crystal creature turn into a toad and she hesitates, Why am I not firing he did target his own group with a spell. I will wait to see what the group says about his actions and if they do nothing, I will.
With that she lowers the crossbow and enters the room. Keeping a watchful eye on the roof above to see if any more creatures appear.
Once Badger has the controls figured out, he will fly down the the lower ledge and open the door. This could be useful, he says to the others. It could allow us to explore in relative safety... The gnome looks like he was about to say something else, but then stops short. He looks at the size of the passageway they entered through, and then back at the ship, and then back at the passage. Urgh, anyway, who wants a ride to the other side? Before anyone climbs in, Badger will collect the toad and casually toss it into the shaft.
(Beyond the room with the cage and the bunch of stuff and the loads of locked doors, there was one significant large locked door... the one that appears to accept the skeleton keys)
"Badager. focus," Silas states, "Can you send your familiar down this crawlway first? I do not believe your ship can go through it,"

Badger calls up to Silas on the far ledge: Yes, yes, I will. But I have to get up there first. Let's get everyone across, and then we can inspect the crawlway...

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Assuming the ship can ferry us across, Sickle will join Badger. He's tenative, given the damage the ship has taken, and the unintended consequences of his recent use of the ring. However, once inside, he stares around at the inside. "How does it function, I wonder?"
Grenk just slowly shakes his head. "Just when I think I've seen it all, this place throws more at us. A flying device for a whole group. Bizarre but useful..." He would then allow to be transported across.
Badger casually tosses the toad into the pit. It plummets over a hundred feet before hitting the maelstrom below. The frog seems to explode and then disintegrate into nothing as it hits the storm. The ship does seem quite badly damaged, but Badger is able to operate it quite well to fly people up and down between the bannister. The ship should also be able to fit down the tunnel, though the stairway down is a bit too narrow. Thinking back, it may be possible to extract this machine from this place...the tunnels all were probably large enough.
Either way, the ship with spiderwebs of cracks all through it seems sturdy enough and soon enough everyone is on the upper balcony looking at this 3 foot wide by 2 foot high crawlway that leads away.
Mal glares at Badger, but then remembers that it was Sickle whom blasted the group with the cold....with his ring of frost that's wrapped around his finger. And...it's not the first time either. Grenk had already previously felt the sting of that ring.

(Yeah, don't blame Badger! Although he probably did at some point, I just couldn't remember)
Reaching into his beard, Badger pulls his little lizard out of its hidden place in another dimension, and whispers a few words to it before crouching down and laying it on the floor to scurry into the crawlway.

The small lizard crawls down the tunnel. Through its eyes, Badger sees the passage opens up into a twenty foot square room with a 20 foot high ceiling. A large bronze apparatus on a hinged arm fills most of the room, set at the center of the space. Slowly rotating within the arm is a 14-foot-diameter globe decorated by a topographic map of landforms and oceans. Concentric rings of brass constrain the device, all rotating and bearing their own lesser spheres. One of those spheres has sharp points and appears sunlike. Carvings of tall, headless humanoids decorate the walls of the room. There appear to be no other exits from this room.

Mal quickly leaves the ship, not trusting it at all, especially since she did her best to try and destroy it. She move move to a wall and place hr back against it eyeing both Badger and Sickle as she is quickly learning not to really trust any caster, especially ones that let inanimate objects take over their mind and ones that seem to be possessed of some dead god.
Badger conveys this knowledge, along with his opinion that there doesn't appear to be any danger, as well as his suggestion they take a closer look (and try to conceal his excitement... another contraption! this is a gnomes paradise!)

Sickle nods, "I can go first, but we all look a bit rough. Why don't we rest for a moment here? By the way, " he adds, looking where the grappling hook had latched onto the ledge, "nice throw."
After the rest (or now if the group chooses to press on), Sickle will Wild Shape into a gnome-sized rat, then move down the hall tentatively toward the room with the statues.

Silas saw a crawlway he figures he could crawl down. You also passed a stairway back in the other passage.
