Kasaaptu sits down next to the rod to examine it but then Badger nods to her, and walks up next to her, touching the rod as he begins to cast his spell.
With a blast of light, air and wind a shock travels through Badgers hand with sharp pain. Everyone else feels as if the entire world was suddenly ripped away from them. Everyone is sitting, but no longer in the jungle. A massive cavern, open to the sky surrounds everyone. Warrens run through the cave walls in every direction that stretch up for 100 feet. Gears can be seen turning in some, magical lights of different colors emanate from gems embedded in the walls. The main floor of the cavern is soft with moss, and a massive table stretches for nearly forty feet, benches lining its sides. Upon the table appears a feast. Copper cauldrons filled with sweet and spicy smelling soups, roasted meats of all sorts, bowls filled with buttery fried potatoes, carrots, turnips. A few casks of ale, and mugs plates and cutlery greet the group. The air is a wonderful temperature, cool, but not cold, just right, with a nice breeze blowing through the space. Hammocks are strung up around, but also inside many warrens are what look like massive king sized beds with soft sheets. Ladders lead up to many of these small private bedrooms. It is quiet and peaceful here. Hammu the dinosaur snuffs about. Sedrik, Boris, Gregory, Azaka, are all here in the space with you, but otherwise this place appears deserted and simply waiting for you. Badger...this place...this place would be the most ideal gnome home you could imagine, absent of the gnome people that would live here. The rod lays on the moss, your finger still touching it. A voice speaks into your mind, wry and raspy. "You're welcome," the voice says simply, with a certain amount of self-satisfaction.

Urgh... Badger stammers, looking around ... I regret to admit that I did not expect that!
The rod temporarily forgotten and abandoned on the moss, Badger rises and walks slowly around the cavern, taking in all he can see with wide-eyed wonder, pondering whether this is a trick of some kind or if they have all been transported to gnome heaven. He tentatively reaches for a leg of fowl, hoping against hope that he isn't taunted by an illusionary banquet.

The turkey leg seems very real. Grease drips off of it's hot, crispy skin, the food hot as if just cooked. The smell of it is amazing. It looks, smells, and feels very real.

Badger likes a good feed as much as the next bloke - probably more in fact. Gnomes love to sample the good things in life, and being a svirneblin doesn't make Badger any less inclined that way. Plus he was never anywhere near what you would call well-to-do, and isn't about to pass up a free banquet. So Badger tucks right in, tearing a chuck off a steaming loaf, ladling warm soup straight into his mouth, not bothering to wipe the drips off his beard, stuffing herb-sprinkled potatoes into his mouth and washing them down with a mug of spicy mead.
The voice in Badger's mind probably reassures him that this is legit. However any mental alarm bells would have been silenced by his overwhelming enthusiasm for this place. With that in mind, I'd like to use the Portent roll of 4 as a Wisdom check for danger (Perception or Insight, I guess): 5

Yroc shrugs off the surprise quickly, not wanting to be caught off-guard, even by a sudden change as this. It reminded him of the teleportation magic, and it left a sour taste in his mouth, despite the fact that nothing had hurt him then. Slowly he too steps up to the table, but looks around for any signs of life in the caves around them.
Sickle’s alarm bells go off in his head as they look at this. “Wait, my friend! Give me a few minutes and I can make sure that this food is safe for us.”
Badger pauses with chucks of stringy meat hanging out his mouth, dripping fat, and looks over at Sickle. Words of some kind can be heard as the meat jiggles in Badger's mouth.

Kasaaptu will look about , grab some of the vegetables and some fruit if their is some and put it in her bag
She will see if she perceives something more askew then being in a place so delightful considering the state of the fellow that was previously holding the rod. She will pick the rod up so it doesnt go missing.
16 perception
Arcana 15 to see if she had any knowledge of this type of thing
She will say " if this came from the mind of Badger, it might be a good thing I didn't not activate this item..My mother used to tell me if something looks too good to be true, then likely it isnt true"
Sickles spell resolves, and there is a complete absence of poison or disease, except for the minor bits that are still clinging to your clothes from the jungle. This place seems absolutely purified.
Kasaaptu is reminded of something, her arcane knowledge triggering a memory about a type of magical item that can create a safe sanctuary, an intradimensional space away from the rest of reality. She remembered that within these micro-worlds almost anything could be possible, limited only by the power of the item. In this case, this would need to be a pretty powerful rod to be able to create something like this. If her memory serves correct, time is limited in these places, but could have all sorts of special reality bending attributes.
Badger sits back, his stomach full, his appetite completely sated by the delicious food. Looking around, the soup has no heat source yet continues to bubble. The roasts continue to look like they were just pulled out of the oven. There must be enough food and drink here to keep the group for almost a month.
For all Yroc's looking, it would seem that there is no signs of anyone living here. No footprints in the soft moss, no finger prints on cutlery. Everything seems pristine and untouched by hand or foot, even though it's all clearly made.

Sickle is surprised to find his spell return void, but rises, confirming his results, and partakes with the othere. When he is done, he will seek out a private space, squeezing though doorways built for gnomes to find a warm, soft bed to rest his weary body for the first time in many days.
Sir Darak Darkhall: At first untrusting of his strange new surroundings, Darak's suspicions subside as he searches the cavern with Yroc while Sickle casts his spell. Giving a nod of approval to his Retainers, the Knight sits and enjoys a meal with the men.
When the meal is finished, Darak sets Sedrik and Boris to training before taking Gregory aside to talk. He says, "We've not had much time to speak alone, old friend. I have questions..."
Gathering his thoughts, he continues, "This Power that my family's blade has granted me is... unnatural. The dark magics feel second nature, as though a part of me. Truly, it disturbs me how normal it feels.
"My father bestowed Onyx onto me before I departed, but why not tell me of the sword's true nature? Perhaps he did not know? I'd heard the rumors and legends about the blade as a child, but never thought them true. Did my father ever say anything to you? Or perhaps you read something in the family histories that could be useful?"

Gregory looks uncomfortable at the personal nature of the conversation. He begins haltingly, “Your father, he is a complicated man. He’s always lived with dark shadows, but he has always also held his own council. But he is not ill-meaning. If he’s withheld anything from you, it’s not to me to tell you.” He pauses and looks around, seemingly taking in the surroundings. “But...that blade cuts both ways. The fortune it grants your family, well, all things come at a cost. You’re old enough to know this. And this cost is borne by everyone in your family, including you.”

The party enjoys the comfort of a bed, no bugs, no noise, no snakes or dark eyes from the wilds. No oppressive heat. This place feels like your own private paradise and after a solid rest the group breaks fast with more delicious food. Around the table there are smiles and laughing for the first time in a long time. Kasaaptu has found a natural hot spring and people have taken turns washing the grime from their skin. Furthermore, wounds have healed naturally while you’ve been here, the scars dissolving, the flesh mending. After breakfast everyone is left looking around at each other. An unspoken question sits in everyone’s head but seems to be going unsaid.
Badger will again attempt to Identify the rod. This time he won't drop it if they get teleported out of here, but keep hold until his spell is complete.
Rod of Security - this item apparently can create any paradise its activator could imagine in an extraplanar dimension, and teleport up to 199 people there. It provides food, rest, healing (1 hit dice per hour), and you don't age while there. People can remain there for up to 200 days, divided by the number of people that are there. It can be ended with an action by whoever has the rod, and everyone appears back where they started. Time passes normally while in this place. You can't use it for ten days after you return from using it. It would seem this rod also has some...personality...but the identify spell doesn't reveal much detail to you about that.
(Please decide who will be the caretaker of the rod.)
(Ah, beat me to it. Was gonna send the familiar)
Badger looks curiously at the rod, then squats down in the wet loamy soil and starts to chant while touching it.
