"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
The final blasts from the party kill the creature near Ham, and Sickle kills one of the fleeing creatures. Blasts of darkness from Sir Darak and streaks of flame from above drive the creatures away for good. The party does indeed find a grim situation left to them. Sedrik and Boris are sobbing over the body of Gregory. But it would seem as well that the creatures also managed to kill poor Hammu, your loyal beast. Kasaaptu is crestfallen as she looks at the dead body, torn to ribbons. Ten of the Raptor bodies also lay dead, or mostly dead amidst the jungle.
As Sir Darak makes his claim about Gregory's soul going to Tyr, the undead creature, mostly forgotten, mumbles, half-heartedly, "Probably not actually." She pauses for a moment before adding, "Thorry."
Ham watches sadly as the burial takes place, the gentle smell of roses filling the air.
Despite the healing, blood drips down Yroc's arms, tapping gently onto the leaves on the ground, his body fiercely torn up.
The group takes a while to rest after the deadly battle.
Sir Darak says his words after Gregory's body is laid to rest. Boris whispers something quietly, mentioning a girls name, before turning away. Sedrik is pale and quiet and nods to the grave solemnly before turning away.
After a time, and some effort spent readjusting their gear, and leaving the water barrel behind, the group eventually resumes their journey. Azaka looks sadly back at the grave, and the body of Hammu, before pressing onwards. The evening finds the group sitting about camp. The loss of Gregory sits heavily on much of the group, and Hammu's presence is also oddly discomforting. Conversation is quiet around the crackling fire before rain catchers are put out and people turn in for the night.
The next day you're forced to stop for an hour during some heavy rain, but continue pressing your way along the rising canyons above the river shortly after. At noon Azaka urges you all to a slight rise in the jungle where you can see a Triceratops grazing with two young ones in the jungle. The mother keeps herself between you and the calves, before urging them to move further away. The rest of the day passes with relative ease, the typical jungle sites now feeling second nature to your ears and eyes.
The following morning is welcomed with hard rain in camp. People gather the water and break camp, but Azaka keeps you at camp while the heavy rain continues. After traveling in the jungle for so long you've grown to respect this choice. The rain is impossible to see through, and impossible to hear through, and it would only take a few missteps to lose someone for good. That and the footing is treacherous enough to set you washed down an embankment or setting off a landslide and ending up in the canyon. The wind picks up, and soon a tropical storm is lashing the jungle. The cracks of branches falling and rushing wind and water fill your ears as fronds and leaves whip amongst the jungle floor.
It's not until noon that you're able to get moving, the jungle full of temporary streams and creeks as you walk. The heat returns, but everyone remains soaked. By the afternoon you catch site of the massive stone edifice known as Ataaz Muhahah stretching across the canyon hundreds of feet above the river. Vines hang from it like hair, thick and numerous. Monkey's skitter along the edges of the bridge and hang from the vines beneath. As you get closer though you realize that only some of the monkeys are real. Many more are carved of stone, and though time has damaged them, the skilled artistry that created them is still apparent. The monkeys that are alive shriek and chatter continuously, their sounds bouncing off the cavern walls.
A stone shrine stands at the midpoint of the bridge. It consists of an imposing statue of a Chultan warrior wearing a war mask, hunkered down like a panther ready to pounce. Like the monkey statues on the bridge, the carving is highly stylized. Bright gems flash in its eye sockets. A human skeleton lies crumpled near the statue's feet. Several of its bones are obviously broken, but it's impossible to tell whether these injuries happened while the person was alive or were caused by scavengers after death.
Part of the bridge on the far side has fallen away, leaving a 20 foot gap. The stone at either side looking crumbly and unsafe.
As you approach Azaka reminds you, "The statue in the middle will come to life and attack us if we do not pay homage to the shrine of Ubtao there. We need to cross the river here."
The sounds of the monkey's overlap strangely in the canyon suddenly emerging as what sounds like haughty gloating laughter echoing from below. The monkeys fall silent as the laughing slowly fades. After a few moments one of them shrieks and they all start up again.
Azaka, "Welcome to Ataaz Muhahah. We make literal names in Chult."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Badger asks Azaka: Urgh, what manner of liturgy must we offer in homage to Ubtao? He compares what Azaka tells him and what he can see of the statue and surroundings with what he has experienced elsewhere. Religion: 19
Also: Badger has had the spell scroll for 8 days now, so has probably had sufficient spare time to invest 2 hours in studying and copying the spell to his spellbook. He may or may not have had the material components necessary, but presumably so for a relatively simple 1st-level spell (and can pay the 50 gp to replace them next time we find civilisation). Happy to accept DM ruling here.
Also: In the two-and-a-half days since leaving Mezro, Badger would have been talking to Ham some more, utilising his divination spells to facilitate communication. The curious gnome asks myriad questions, but his main areas of inquiry are: 1) We've been calling him 'Ham' but what is his real name, or relevant interpretation? 2) Is Ham a native of this place (presumably so as he looks similar to the local dinosaurs) and are there others of his race in Chult? 3) How did he come to meet his friend Artus?
Also: According to Badger's journal, this is Day 8 since they used the magic rod.
Azaka, "Simply bowing to the statue is sufficient, though sometimes people leave food, or small gifts." Badger sees a couple copper coins and some rotted flowers in amongst the weeds at the base of the statue. Based on what he knows of religion, this seems to make sense. Gifts are not always necessary, just a show of respect, especially in what would have been a busy crossing.
Badger has had time to copy the spell. Azaka has helped him find what he needs in the jungle before camping.
Badger takes the opportunity to talk to Ham as they go. The magic seems to place Ham's words into your mind, and you realize he must be making noise, just...beyond what you can hear.
Ham, "Oh, this is a most gracious gift, to be able to freely communicate with someone. My previous traveling companion, Artus, referred to me as Dragonbait. I believe he was making an attempt at humor. I do not mind, it is quite a humorous name and I would be glad for you to use it. Ham is also suitable. My real name can not be pronounced by your tongues but means 'Traveler amongst the shining stars'. I am not native to this land, no. My race is not from this world and I've not met another of my species while on Faerun. I come from another world. Artus and I met in Port Nyanzaru. He was on a quest to find his true love, who is apparently trapped on another plane along with the city that was once Mezro. The ruins there are a sham it seems. Artus was quite old though, even though his body did not show it. The terrible ring protected him from the ravages of time. I do not know how long he had been trying to find how to recall the true city of Mezro, but it was beyond a normal life time for a creature such as you. To be honest, I do not think he would have succeeded, if the old Mezro even exists out there somewhere, but he was a true friend, honorable, and good. I am most saddened by his loss. You and your friends seem an odd group. A few I get unsettling impressions from. That one (he points to Kasaaptu) has a dark heart, though not evil, her species certainly leans in a darker direction. And that one (he glances towards Sir Darak), something dark has reign over his soul. But by and large, your companions seem kind and pure of intent, and I am glad to be travelling with you."
The arcane rod in Badger's pack murmers occasionally through out the days. Not irritatingly so, just, once in a while, typically mentioning dangers that it's worried about. "Only two more days...two more and we can again be safe from this place. Horrible, horrible place this is, so much danger...so much, watch out for that thorn there. Is that a poisonous frog?? Woah, if you slip and break an ankle, you're pretty much done for... Ack, I'm sure that species of lizard breaths fire!" (Badger looks at the lizard, pretty sure that it does not breath fire, it's a small gecko.)
Sickle is devastated at the lost of Gregory and the faithful Hammu. He kneels beside the animal, placing a hand on the hide with head bowed. He druidcrafts a handful of flowers and lays them atop the shallow grave dug for Gregory.
As they arrive at Ataaz Muhahah, and prepare to cross the bridge, his mind flashes back to the fight with the raptors. “Let us proceed with caution, and watch out for those monkeys. They could be troublesome.”
While we are at the base of the bridge, if we are like 5 minutes from the peak, Sickle will cast Speak With Animals as a ritual. If it will take longer, he will hold on to it until they get near the monkeys. He will attempt to use the spell to listen to the animals and what they are thinking of them. He will also address them to ask 1) what dangers lie on the bridge, and 2) whether they have seen anything of note in the last day.
Before they cross the bridge, SIlas will cast Enhance Ability choosing Owl's Wisdom so they have advantage on Wisdom checks, to the person leading them across the bridge.

As you cross the bridge, Sickle listens to the monkeys. They chitter and chatter about the bridge god smashing them. They seem to be arguing about which one of you will get cast from the bridge first. You're all surprised as Sickle begins chatting to the monkeys. The monkeys seem equally surprised and quiet down. One responds to him, "Danger beyond bridge? Jungle! Watch out, a stupid giant butterfly lives there that ruins fun and is mean to monkeys." Anything of note in the last day, "Just you! Though more than three, and less than ten days ago some giant white skinned creatures crossed the bridge. They seemed like no fun and mean. They just ignored the bridge guardian like he was nothing!"
You all move up onto the bridge. Its huge stone structure solid beneath your feet as it stretches across the canyon. Eventually you near the statue at the center of the bridge. Bowing and paying homage, you carefully move past. The stone statue does not move. Soon enough you're near the far side where the twenty foot gap is.

During Gregory's burial rites, Yroc casts a blank, but scrutinizing look at Sir Darak before kneeling down beside the man, dragging two fingers through the dirt and using the dirt to draw two lines across Gregory's face. Other than that he says nothing, simply turning away and waiting for Azaka to be available, hoping to enquire if the slain animals might be edible. With food supplies being an issue, there now was plenty of meat lying around, after all.
---
At the gap in the bridge, Yroc offers, "I can make it across, now. Either last or first, what you think is best. With a rope I might be able to prevent anyone from falling a great distance." As the words leave his lips he avoids any eye contact, knowing his last experience with great heights was probably imprinted on all their minds, not just his.
Azaka shrugs in reply to the meat question from Yroc, "If we wanted to eat right now we could scavenge, but unless anyone here has a bunch of salt, or we want to take the time to build a smoker, the meat will spoil by this evening, so it's not worth the time to cut it."

Sickle will smile at the gap. His experience here in the jungle had expanded his mind, and the lessons of his mother’s clan had been spinning through his mind the past few days. Now he knew this is what the Ancients had been drawing him to. He will gather rope, hopefully spotting a place to tie it off on either side. Once he has a plan for how to make the crossing easier for the others, he will wild shape into a Giant Frog, let out an obligatory, deep, “RIbbit”, and jump across the chasm. (Standing leap 20 feet)
Badger casts Misty Step to cross the gap, then assists Sickle with tying off the rope. He then stands on the far edge, watching and waiting to cast Feather Fall on anyone that "does a Yroc".

"I will assist your Sir Darak with that," Silas said as he goes to help cut some tree down.
