(OOC - yes, sorry it was Kat that was hit. Sorry about that I updated it. )
(OOC 2 - everyone keep in mind that this entire canyon is not a large area. As a refresher on the dimensions - its about 60 feet across, West to East, and everyone is grouped into maybe a 20 foot area around the tower right now - no one is really away from any one else at this point. The canyon is around 100 feet longer to the South if you want to move that way. There is still a half buried building down there, and a guard tower. To the North of everyone about 50 feet is the remaining North Guard tower. The Lighthouse sits about 20 feet South-ish of both the Great Hall and the collapsed library, and the Wellhouse with the Creature was less than 20 feet to the West of the Light house)
(OOC 3 - Please trust that I review your character sheets, skills and inventory pretty much every time I do anything or you take a turn, if that was in question. I am well aware of your character's immunites, back stories, skills, etc but there is a lot so I will make mistakes. I apologize in advance! :-P )

Hadar sees them going for the arm and says, "HANG ON! No one is desecrating the dead. I'll drag him up. Besides, he may have accounted for that in the spell."
He then turns on the ramming Tunist, "NO TUNIST. STAY. SIT. You can't help them now."
Animal Handling = 14
The weary Ranger then grabs the body and drags it over to the desk, "Let's see what's in here before we go up, shall we?"
Tunist bounces from the door and spins around to face Hadar, her hackles up and head low in a growl. She drools and barks menacingly before letting high pitched wine begin lacing its way into her breaths between the growls. She turns back to the door, but does not continue to slam it, instead sniffing, scratching and barking at every hole in the old wood.
Twinly comes down the winding staircase from the top of the light house interior and stands with an appalled look on his face. It seems the current state of events and small area are really getting to him. He glances nervously towards the sound of Kat being eviscerated and moans softly.
Jimmer, stays his blade and stands, pulling Twinly by the arm, away from the stairs and out of his daze. Quinn meets Hagar's eyes -"Aye, you may be right there. I'll take the feet... this isn't going to be the easiest pallbearering I've ever done."
Hadar takes a moment to explore the desk, and really feels like he's studiously investigated every last inch of it. The bord is off simple, yet sturdy build, its wood finely worked yet worn to hairlike splinters and crumbled varnish. On its top, a two drawer set sits, one drawer on top of the other, six inches square by eight long. The main desk has a thin, long drawer nearly all the way across its front flashing and two inches tall.
In the long, drawer, Hadar finds a map which fills it almost completely, laid out flat on fresh, unrolled parchment. The colors are rich and deep and the pathways and openings shown are extensive. It looks like some sort of cave system mapped out, but much of it incomplete as if never explored. A feather with dried red ink lays on the parchment as if it's recently been worked on.
MAP to be posted soon!
On the top of the table, parallel with and laid against the wall, is a long tube of hard, thick leather, fixed with brass hooks at each end. A leather strap sits, neatly rolled, next to it. Both are dark, rich auburn and have simple, yet elegant flowers stamped into their surface.
The two small drawers contain inks of several different pigments, fine tip brushes and quills.
Beneath the pigments, Hadar finds a small, obsidian glass wand as wide as his pinky finger and the length of the drawer. The shaft is black streaked with deep red, smooth and expertly worked. Pulling the drawer from its case, Hadar sees that the terminus of the wand is a perfectly formed quartz crystal, some four inches in length.
The weak door shatters under Leann's assault, splinters flying across the room and rusty hinges releasing their crumbling prisoners. Tunist and the Guards jump at the implosion, all surprised and shocked, seeing out the doors for the first time. Kat's crumpled body and the Great Spider make their eyes go wide.
Leann Hadar at the small desk examining a set of paints and brushes, as well as a large map and a volcanic glass wand.
Leann did you want to make any further movements or item interactions?
Ashissa / Baku, the turn limit on Dominate Person has expired, your turn once Leann is finished.
Leann will rush into the tower as soon as the way is clear. "What do we have?" She calls out as soon as she is inside. "Best not tarry, that thing is not going to be slowed down by a door..." Seeing the map, she will try to see if it has any indications of a place to go from here.
The map is quite extensive, but there are points of termination in what appears to be a web of passages and caverns. There is no map key for scale, but these must stretch on at least for miles, wherever they are.
Damh the bard finds himself pushed along out of the way as Leann turns towards the door. Nearly getting bulled over, his only option is stepping back into the lighthouse as Leann does.
"The map! The entrance to the caves is too small for these beast to enter... I've only seen it, but never been inside" he glances at Kat. "The crevasse... it's at the South end of the canyon." he mutters. "Hurry!" he pivots to look back at the massive spider, only a few feet away, threatening to block them in to the Tower.
There is a chance for the spider to perform an attack of opportunity for anyone leaving the Lighthouse at this point.
As Ashissa flies into the dry air and clears the canyon walls, she can see the barren desert beyond. Huge bones of once great beasts lay half-buried in the dunes, and the sand stretches as far as the eye can see to the East. To the West, a massive mountain range looms, and she cannot see past it.
The split suns burn hot red and white, and the sky is a confusing dome like cracked glass on the psyche as it wavers on the edge of two planes of existence. The wind is strong and flying is difficult as the heat scorches down on her back.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tunist continues barking savagely and loudly at the door, growling and jumping, nipping at the air in the direction of the Spider.
Twinly and Jimmer glance at each other with worried looks as Ashissa flies away, a flurry of loose sand in her wake. They look to Leann and Hadar and Twinly shouts over the barking of the Mastiff:
“Are we going to try and lug this corpse up that tiny stair case, or make a run for the tunnels? Either way, we must act! This Beast means to corner and kill us!”
Jimmer nocks another arrow and steps forward towards the door, the string letting out a breezy twang as it cuts the air. A cool breeze contrasts the hot air around the group in the Lighthouse as the arrow zips by them toward its target, leaving a sparkling frosty mist in its slip stream.
Frost Arrow +1 Attack: Attack: 20 Damage: 4

Creature CON Save DC 12 against halved speed from Frost Arrow - 23
Twinly pulls a clay bottle from his pouch and slides a oiled wick into it, squeezing a small metal tool in his hand several times before it finally sparks, quickly catching the wick aflame. He hefts the bottle and tosses it lightly into the sand, where it rolls about 17 feet out and sits for a second… before exploding. Shards of clay fly in a cloud and a thick smoke bursts from within, forming a cloud around the spider.
“This is our chance, what say you all?”
Smoke bomb - 20 foot Diameter. Since the bomb landed 17 feet out, that makes the inner passage of the Lighthouse slightly obscured, but the party is well aware of their surroundings at this point.
Damh squeezes against the wall to the side of the door frame and leans around to peek outside into the smoke, in the direction of the Spider. Wiggling his fingers whimsically at the creature, he makes another mediocre rhyme:
“Don’t you think it would be best, to find Mordecai and complete your Quest? These puny humans don’t mean much, surely you are wasting your venom’s touch.”
Suggestion – Spider Wisdom Save DC 15 or perform the action suggested.
The huge Spider rears up as the frost arrow catches it in the side of its abdomen and lets out a multi-tonal, gurgling roar. The smoke bomb explodes right then, and the beastly growl turns to a confused, heavy breathing as the arrow hisses a cold steam loudly through the smoke.
The Spider can be heard in the miasmic cloud, crunching around and trying to get its bearings. Momentarily, the party hears the sounds grow fainter, and it appears the Spider has left the area as Damh suggested.
Seconds later, a loud boom can be heard from the direction of the Great Hall. It sounds like a something heavy being slammed against a tin roof.
Hadar looks at Leann, "Why aren't you outside trying to help? You're the strongest of us now?"
He groans and drops what he has in hands, "I'm not lugging anything. She is." Now walking past Tunist and looking in the direction he's barking, "C'mon pup, let's kill that bastard or die trying."
Hadar then walks out onto the battlefield to confront the gross-out twins, he pulls out his longsword and declares, "How dare you corrupt the place with your detestable presence. Hear me monsters! You will be struck down and sent back to the dark where you belong. **** you and **** your entire bloodline. Come get some, foul beasts!" He then moves towards the nearest monster for the kill.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Because that thing is not something we can stand against one-on-one..." Leann said with a near growl in her voice. She scoops up the thing Hader had been holding, and does a quick scan of the desk for anything else of use.
Perception: 3
Seeing nothing she glances to the others. "Out or in?" She asks them with a raised eyebrow. Deciding she better explain a bit. "Do you think there is anything else in here we need to get or find, or do you think it better to get out of here and try to get to the tunnels?"
From Ashissa's vantage point, she sees the huge Spider exit a cloud of smoke and make its way to the half-collapsed Great Hall. It begins banging and ripping at the roof furiously, apparently seeking to gain entry.
Surveying the rest of the valley, she doesn't catch too much more detail than what she already knows from her time in the village. She does see the South entry to the canyon for the first time now, with its single guard tower and two mostly buried huts nearby. The rest of the canyon to the South of the Light house is vacant besides several lumps of sand, some with tent posts or flapping canvas protruding from them.
Is Baku skipping its turn this round? I seem to recall it rolls Perception @ advantage... LOL

As Hadar exits the smoke, he finds himself about 20 feet to the South of the Lighthouse. Peaking around the foggy air as it begins to wisp away on the soft breeze, he sets his eyes on the 3rd form of the creature, the Giant Spider. Having not seen the other iterations of this foul creature's form, he can't be too sure what he is dealing with here. He does recall hearing a gargling voice like animals being slaughtered screaming something about "Lolth and Mordecai" through the wall of the Tower, however.

To the South lumped sand over decimated tent scraps littering the area is the main attraction. At the Southeast end of the chasm are two mostly buried, wooden structures and the guard tower Hadar walked past upon arrival. Something seems different to his keen Ranger senses. Something has changed.

Leann is slightly baffled at how confusing the desk appears to her perception at the moment and has to really focus to see what Hadar had dug out of the desk.
Where Hadar had left them, she is able to recover the obsidian wand with quartz tip which Hadar had found, along with the set of inks and quills and the map. She doesn't have any luck finding anything else, but feels pretty confident that she did a really good job looking things over.
Damh, Twinly and Jimmer exchange looks before Damh speaks up. "This place is lost. We do not have time to sit here and study the magics that Erin used to light this Tower against the long nights of this land... Kat seemed to think that the tunnels were our salvation, or at least those were her last words. It seems the woman with the little pet (Damh has never met Ashissa due to the weather conditions upon her arrival) has abandoned us, and who knows what the Half-Orc is up to. I'm heading for the tunnels. At least there we can use the darkness to our advantage. The Demons will return in but a few hours here in the canyon."
Twinly and Jimmer nod in agreement, and Tunist barks once before zooming off into the smoke. The three men follow along more carefully, trying to keep their whits about them in the smoke. Damh turns back to Leann as he enters the veil of fog and motions for her to follow. "We'd best stick together, no?"
Tunist appears next to Hadar and gives him a throaty bark before taking off toward the South end of the canyon. The men arrive shortly thereafter. "We're off to find the caves. It may be our only chance at surviving this one." Jimmer states gruffly to Hadar. "It would be nice to have a brother Ranger to have my back if you'll join us."
With that, the three men run along after Tunist's dusty trail.
To the North, the massive Spider continues to pound on the roof of the Hall, running and hopping and pounding all over the building.
It catches sight of the figures exiting the smoke with one of its many eyes, and emits another gurgling roar of otherworldly evil, but seems to be focused on the task at hand.
One of its claws now holds the broken body of Mordecai, letting it swing in the air haphazardly as it seeks entry into the Hall.
I was wondering why Leann would have even been in its crosshairs, I thought she was a ways away from him at this point.

BACK to HADAR I believe.
